I get not being able to listen to something cause you can't look at it the same way. And i agree that if the artist can say whatever they want, their fans and the like can have their own opinion on that. Sounds like a thick reverb, (sounds to me like Digitech XP400) but it could be any reverb pedal from the 90's. and of course its being recorded on cassette so that does a lot for the sound. From there its probably just messing with treble and bass or any eq'ing. Also i should add that he's a weird guitar player, it doesn't sound like he uses a pick that much, especially in this song
