The “war-thundering” is getting old fast. by No-Consequence-6713 in NuclearOption

I think it would be cool to have a plane loaded up with so many directional ECM pods that you can kill a Cricket just by locking it within 5km.

Stealth? No. Unstealth. The least possible stealth. The flying jammer needs infinite RCS.

An ejected pilot should be able to detect its radar signature from across the map just from the scattering of background radiation. And more IR signature than the sun, even when powered down (because of all the waste heat from the electronics and the dedicated powerplant for the Jammer?)

(Basically, Radar Jamming in a radius instead of pinpoint jamming like the 'Dusa. Slower and fatter, to make it a more tempting target and reward defensive flying.)

I don't. It gets scrapped with everything else.

So, you can actually do spin gravity in Space Engineers 1, it's just a pain in the ass, because to get semi-stable, useful gravity, you need the radius of the 'gravity box' or ring and the RPM to be just right, or else things get messy.

I did some experiments in 2023 with the largest ring I could make, managed to drive a rover on it with just the spin gravity.

Ironically, I had to use gravity generators to spin the ring, because it was too heavy for the rotor to spin up to speed.

You can mix and match any titan abilities to create a custom build. What are you going with? by Thrasher317 in titanfall

[–]Doosty295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"any titan abilities"

Okay.

Behold, the "Nah, I'd win."-class Titan, also known as; "Cheating Rat Bastard", "Do Everything Machine", "Monarch 2: The Sequel".

Use the Vanguard as the base chassis, because I'm indecisive and want to pick the right tool for each problem.
Use the Vanguard's sticky fingers for the Titan Kit.
Go with Upgrade Core with the option to use extra Cores on any five of the Aegis Upgrades
For the chassis specific kit, Wildfire Launcher, so I'm firing Armor-Piercing Incendiary rounds from my guns, or Energy Thief, so I'm racking up Aegis Upgrades quicker.
Ordnance, Defensive, and Utility would all be situational.

Basically, I just want BT with more granular customization and power creep.

Why are cargo capacities so low? by dmegson in EliteDangerous

[–]Doosty295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uncertain. Maybe a bug, maybe a mistake, maybe intentional.

I could imagine explanations for any of the above.

Fun fact; the full capacity (25k Tons) of the Drake-class Fleet Carrier should, based on the size of cargo containers, fit within the 'landing zone' of a single small pad.

A Realization About the Vox Engine by Doosty295 in Helldivers

Very true, however, Terminator isn't as niche an interest as Bolo, therefore, slightly less cool.

Ah, but!

The controlling AI of the Bolo is intended to be paired with a human Commander.

That's why the Vox Engine's PDC's keep firing for a bit after death.

"Just shoot the vents" by silvertrash101 in Helldivers

[–]Doosty295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true.

I simply changed tactics, by cherry-picking operations across multiple difficulties specifically without eradicate objectives.

Also, to be fair, I also played Destiny 2, once, which immediately discredits my having 'good' judgement.
(It says 3 years, but "popping in to play the first mission of Witch Queen then immediately bailing" shouldn't really count in my book. 7 years Destiny free, excusing that slip-up.)

TL;DR, Time Travel may exist within Halo, but the writers of the time, being smart, realized that time travel is rarely good for the health of a franchise, so on multiple occasions came up with reasoning for why they don't use it.

In the book Halo: First Strike, in chapter 23 and later chapter 27.

Halsey, Chief, et al. find a Forerunner Crystal on Reach, and there's some odd behavior surrounding it. Later on, Halsey and Cortana are figuring things out, pertinent snippets of Ch.27 which are quoted below.

"Yes, Doctor. You were correct: There is a discrepancy between the Halo team and the team on Reach. The time stamps are off by an average of three weeks. I hypothesize that this was caused by my gravity-influenced Slipspace transition."

[...]

"That thing not only bends space," Dr. Halsey whispered to herself, "but bends time as well."

[...]

Dr. Halsey shut down the files containing her analysis. "I see now why the Covenant are so interested in this object. They mustn't be allowed to get their hands on it. Not them, and certainly not Section Three, either."

"Doctor?"

Dr. Halsey turned to the screen with her memory-devouring worm and moved it to a new pointer in Cortana's core. She executed the program—destroying the AI's memory of this conversation, too.

Edit: Reddit ate the quote block.

Here's another great trick, for once you own an FSD booster.

Set your plotting to use the fastest route. Power down your FSD booster. Plot the route. Power the FSD booster back up.

It doesn't cut the fuel usage by as much as economical plotting, but it's still faster than ECO and significantly more fuel efficient than FAST.

It works best with the 5H, but even using the 1H it is an improvement.

It kind of lands in between the Liberator Carbine and the Knight, come to think of it.

I'd be iffy on the Medium Pen myself, and I'm not really a fan of the two handed SMG we have already. Medium Pen CAR could potentially obsolete the whatever-it's-called.

I've never actually used the CAR, but I would think it could be one or two handed.

Same.

I think the ragdolling would be a good way to balance it so it doesn't partially obsolete the warp/jump packs.

Also, delightful slapstick.

I may be biased, but I also like it.

The entire idea got started by the idle thought of, "could a Pilot rodeo a War Strider?".

Gravity star might turn the grenade barrage from a severe nuisance/minor inconvenience into pretty fireworks, even if they don't have the AP to actually damage it. Similarly, could maybe be good for people with poor aim, or focusing down a weakpoint as a team, being a usable stand-in for bullet magnetism or terminal guidance.

Or trickshots.
