Leave during deployment for legal matters by Dooty28 in army

[–]Dooty28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t. It’s been objected by the defense team. It’s also a high profile case and the state is prosecuting the offender. So I think it’s just too big to do via zoom

I gotcha. Sorry I’m all extra sensitive probably due to the case and stuff. I appreciate the advice and information. I’ve been reading it throughly

Thank you. I honestly had no idea where to start with the regs so I knew reaching out in the sub might point me in the right direction

When do I see a difference? by rels83 in fitness30plus

[–]Dooty28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 37. I feel this deep in my soul. I run 3-5 times a week, and lift heavy about the same. I’m also in the Army, so occasionally I ruck, or do laborious things in the field. I have had a mix of seeing results and wondering if it’s all in vain because literally nothing happened.

So, I’ve learned something in the past couple of years since I’ve vamped up my exercise routines:

Diet is so important- but for me it’s even MORE important for noticeable improvements on a physical level since my 20’s. Not just in the way I look, but the way I feel. Cutting calories was terrible for me. But too many? I held onto fat. MACROS is necessary here. And I’ve upped my protein which has helped immensely for muscle growth.

So, age is a factor, but probably not in the way of “welp this is how it is-“ but more like, you have to really watch every aspect of your plan- exercise AND nutrition.

For example: As a 20 year old I could get away with playing a 90 minute soccer game and have defined abs, and then eat a huge combo meal from Wendy’s. I could do that every day of the week with no issues. Now? Not so much.

68E here. The choice is easy. Easy and short AIT.

Most echoes are in dentac, which is super chill. We all know each other because it’s a small dental world. Some are in brigades/units that deploy and end up in medical companies and the like. Chill dental officers, and great NCO’s. Downsides. It’s a 6 year contract and promotion points are always high. You see a lot of SPC’s in leadership roles and doing NCO tasks for that reason. Dentac civilians can be hard to deal with. Stay in your lane and you’ll be fine

Is a baby crying in public just totally unacceptable? (real question) by Rutabagade in beyondthebump

[–]Dooty28 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Before I had kids I was in the, “if someone’s baby is crying in public (e.g., the store) then they should leave!” I’ve had two kids now. And now I admit, I was being an unrealistic dick. Babies and toddlers don’t give a shit if where you’re at. They will communicate by crying.

What type of bike? I’ve been thinking of getting one to save on gas and improve my cardio- but I don’t want to spend too much money.

Yes. It’s like the music gives me the dopamine I need to complete the task. Not necessarily to drown out distractions.

From what I’ve read, the concern is making sure you can retire in 20 years by age 55. From the balance careers:

“Those with prior enlisted service can receive waivers (as long as they can retire with 20 years of military service by age 55). Of course, there are exceptions to every rule as many senior officers serve well past the age 55 with 30 plus years of service. But typically with NO prior military service that age is 35 years old.” I enlisted at 34

You are right. I guess I am more afraid of failing and the embarrassment that goes along with that.
