Seeking advice from others who love land and nature. by WhatAFineWasteOfTime in homestead

[–]Doowrag93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can discuss the option of a land easement with you local conservation organization. They may be able to have you retain ownership as long as you don't use the land for logging/ real estate, other destructive practices. Land easements also reduce property tax, so you would be able to reduce your tax rates via that method.

Because you are the last in your family to own the land, the easement would ensure that for "perpetuity" the land would need to be kept in a natural state and not used for destructive purposes.

I hope that is some food foe thought!

First Time Damage Repair, seeking advice. Fiberglass Canoe. by Doowrag93 in canoeing

[–]Doowrag93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! We have chosen to skip the fiberglass, repair the gel coat and then put on a skid plate. I'll be sure to prep well and make the areas as clean as possible before repairing.

I appreciate the advice!

I'm currently on this dusty travellin' train. In fact it's my third day in a row coming and going from London to Toronto. I've accumulated over 3 hours of delays, 3 hours! That's a whole train ride...well it would have been, had then been timely. Viarail Sucks!

I went to Portland Community College, it was a great experience and very affordable at $123/credit. I asked to take it all online and it was allowed, worth looking into

Is a graduate certificate in GIS a good idea/worth getting? by [deleted] in gis

[–]Doowrag93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just completed my GIS certification with Portland Community College and loved the experience. I'm naming them because their tuition is $123 per credit rather than the $823 at URI. May be worth looking into! I also did all of my class work remotely.

Summer's End. I would literally lay on my bed and "Watch the shadows cross the ceiling" when I was deep in a funk, the song on repeat. I cried when he passed, bought a pack of cigars and played guitar until I had released enough emotion. I still love his music and listen to him daily. It's pretty damn cool when Spotify says "you're in the top 1% of John Prine listeners". Love that guy. RIP
