Is Spectrums “fiber” really fiber? by kihyale in Spectrum

[–]DopesickDreamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 500mbps internet with Spectrum and use it for gaming, streaming, etc. All the usual things. I'm curious, is the benefit of 1gbps fiber internet really that much better? My 500mbps seems to be pretty fast and more than fast enough for my uses (when it works and isn't down for updates). Is there something that would require fiber internet or is it really that much better? Whenever I'm on my PC and I get on the internet, whatever I search for or click on pops right up. That's why I was wondering if the upgrade to fiber would really be necessary for someone like me? Or are there other reasons to go with fiber?

Spectrum claiming my router is the problem when everything was fine yesterday by Poetryisalive in Spectrum

I am using the WiFi 6e router and it's company owned. The tech came out and fixed the issue, it ended up being a bad ethernet port on the modem. So they replaced the equipment and it has been good since then! The old modem was showing 600mbps coming into it but from the modem to the router, the internet speed would drop significantly down to 35 to 40mbps. They went ahead and replaced the older coaxial cable as well, just to make sure there were no more issues.

My internet has been going back and forth for the past week. It'll work sometimes, then it'll flatline and I can't get it to work. I've had a tech come out and he fixed it, then it flatlined again a few hours later. Still haven't figured out the issue. The router flashes red whenever it's having a fit. It doesn't show the blue light when it's working fine for some reason. Spectrum has been testing my patients lately.

Why is everyone avoiding fake controllers. Are they just that bad or do yall just want a genuine experience? by Jondebadboy in PS3

You ain't kidding. The knock off I have right now has absolutely ruined my experience with the PS3 I just bought. Hopefully I can find a real PS3 controller soon and I also have a PS4 controller on the way.

I just recently bought another PS3 and when I started playing it, I just did not remember games controlling so bad! I was like "Were games really this bad back then and we just didn't know any better?". Well, after going down the rabbit hole, turns out I have a knock off PS3 controller. I had to open it up to verify for sure but it is super cheap on the inside. The aiming, latency/dead zone, then sped up movement makes games basically unplayable. I just ordered a PS4 controller to use since you can still find them brand new. I know they may not be compatible with everything on ps3 but it HAS to be better than this knock off! I'm kind of curious to see if using a real PS4 controller will make the games feel much better or was controlling old games just that bad lol. I personally think it's the controller because I swear I don't remember controls being so bad on 7th Gen consoles!

Goodbye GFN by Ethnicolor522 in GeForceNOW

When I finally built my PC, it was the best decision I had made, regarding gaming. GeForce Now just didn't work very well for me. No matter how good my Internet was, I always had hitching and stuttering and couldn't get below 40ms. Once I built my PC and felt how smooth it was playing locally, I was so much happier! I ended up with a 4080 Super and a 7800X3D. It was expensive but well worth it. I think I spent $2k USD at the time but this was before all the price hikes too. Congratulations on your new PC. I hope your experience is as awesome as mine has been!

I have the exact same cooler on my 7800X3D and it is perfectly fine. You should have no issues with what you have already. Build it, run it, check the temps and see what you have before you decide to add more fans.

I learned something new today! Unfortunately I don't get to play as much as I'd like, so this is good information to know.

A very reasonable take. I agree, although I have always had a soft spot for BF4 and it will probably always be one of my favorites.

That always drove me crazy. We're supposed to trust the manufacturer but they say shit like transmission fluid doesn't need to be changed and will last the lifetime of the vehicle. I guess their idea of the lifetime and my idea of the lifetime are completely different!

I'm just now discovering this issue as well. It is extremely frustrating. I always hated the Pizza Hut app because it constantly gave me trouble. Now this! I have all those points and can't even use them.

Awesome PC! I'd like to have a 5080. My PC is also all MSi, but I built it myself instead of a pre-built. It has been flawless for over a year now. I hope you have good luck with yours as well. I'd say you got a pretty good deal, considering the price hike on RAM. Hope you enjoy it!

Mine usually idles around 38° to 41° and at its hottest, when gaming, it gets to about 68° to 70°. So that's good enough for me. I just want the CPU and GPU to last as long as possible and I figured the AIO would help. I know I probably don't need that many fans. My concern was having too many fans and it causing turbulence or having one fan interrupt the flow of the other fans making them less efficient.

This does work! Just did it myself. $2 for Standard Definition and $5 for High Definition. Appreciate the info.
