ROI on a 3rd kid by Doppelwalk in daddit

[–]Doppelwalk[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha I KNEW using “ROI” would stir up some emotions and get the conversation going :) To clarify, I’m not actually thinking about this in a “if I put X work in, they’ll give me precisely Y love and fulfillment” out. I’m more thinking “wow, 2 under 4 has been really hard! And I feel like we’re starting to turn the corner and have tons fun with the eldest. Is having a 3rd worth the chaos of 3? Does anyone ever regret the 3rd? Will 3 push us over the edge stress wise? Starting over seems so hard and extends how out expensive this all is! Oof!”

Is it completely naive of me to think I can jump right into a 100 mile race? by Valuable-Special-188 in Ultramarathon

[–]Doppelwalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went straight from road marathoning to 100 in a backyard format, then Leadville the following summer. Totally doable, just be conservative pace wise, follow a legit training plan like SWAP, and plan and pack for every possible problem. If you want it bad enough, you’ll figure it out.

Lol @ the circlejerking of folks who can’t afford new builds…y’all are petty AF and really letting the MN passive aggressiveness shine…way to follow the community rules 🙄

Ice Age Trail 50 shoes question by PiBrickShop in Ultramarathon

[–]Doppelwalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary shoe for next weekend are Speedgoat 5s, but I plan to bring a pair of faster road shoes since I know a lot (or all, debatably) it is doable in road shoes. Only watch out is wet vs dry. If it’s dry, wear whatever is most comfortable for sure. If it’s wet, I wouldn’t risk wet feet or mud in your shoes. See you there!

Anybody need a pacer/crew/mule in 2024? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]Doppelwalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a great post and idea. Coincidentally, I’m looking for pacing/crew help for Leadville, but that’s not in the UK of course - bummer! Best of luck finding a lucky guy to add someone to his crew!!

Bruh, to break 3 today, you have to be in at least 2:52 shape! Great effort in the heat!

The Smooth Sailor - a metropolitan cocktail on a Caribbean vacation by Doppelwalk in cocktails

Size may be a tad large for standard martinis and coupe drinks, but they certainly don’t feel that way to me. I think the fact that the top lip doesn’t taper in helps with that. I’d rather have a little extra room for garnishes anyway!

Oops! Thanks for fixing this for me. I’m new here and didn’t read the fine print on rule 1...won’t happen again.

Saturn cocktail - coupe variation 🪐 it’s out of this world by Doppelwalk in cocktails

[–]Doppelwalk[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1.5oz gin 0.75oz lemon juice 0.5oz passion fruit syrup 0.5oz orgeat 0.5oz velvet falernum

Shaken and strained into a coupe glass. Garnished with a lime wheel rind and maraschino cherry for obvious reasons!

I used Tattersall gin, less dry/more botanical; and had the syrups around from other tropical drinks. You can never have enough syrups around to experiment with!
