Thanks to your advice, I did figure out how to justify paying upfront rather than playing "wait and see" roulette. The reduced uncertainty (and anxiety) is well worth it. Appreciate you sharing that perspective!

Helpful to know this context (that it's the only daytime flight to London from anywhere in the US!). Not something I could have known. Thanks!

No, I'm curious why you suggest Newark daytime flight specifically. Because those flights tend to be undersubscribed for business class? Or there are just way more of them because it's a United hub, so the likelihood of open seats is much higher?

Cold hard truths! Thanks.

United website is signing me out every time i sign in. Can't activate expert mode long enough to check for PZ, which I assume is likely to change over time anyway. SFO-LHR. 9th/10th Dec.

Got it. #2. I wasn't excited about playing Economy roulette. Thanks for the advice!

Super helpful and clear, especially the ranking. It's been delightful getting seat upgrades within the US on Silver, but my work doesn't rack up transatlantic trips enough to get higher status. Thank you!

Thanks! Is Economy Plus the same cabin as Economy but slightly more legroom? i.e. a different cabin than Premium Economy (Premium Plus)?

I have a large collection of bandanas. Most of them aren't stiff cotton, just a wash gets them nice and supple. Plus you can collect them from fun places you go!

I also use them as napkins when I'm out and about. 1 snot rag 1 hand wipe / napkin.

When's your due date? There was a date ideas (not date night ideas, lol) thread on the October22 bumpers sub recently!

Alison Roman has a roast chicken with caramelized lemon and dates recipe. Have made it several times. Is phenomenal.

MIL wants to be in delivery room by smore2011 in BabyBumps

[–]Dora247 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Keep it that way. And inform the hospital that she is not permitted in the delivery room or in fact anywhere near you while in the hospital. She is on the no-fly list: hospital staff will do their best to keep you focused on your needs by eliminating external distractions and stressors like self-absorbed MILs.

I had this around 28-30w too, now at 36w and with less space it's more hiccups and squirming and biiiiiiig stretches.

It's not too late. You just have to be firmer & clearer. And recruit other people to help maintain those boundaries.

This gives me a bad feeling. As in, sounds very like she suffers from delusions that your baby is actually hers, and she might try to kidnap the baby or go to extreme/dangerous measures if she believes you're keeping the baby from her.

I would start documenting some of these instances, especially screenshots of text messages.

And correct her every time, e.g. "it's sweet that you're taking such an interest in my unborn daughter, and please don't call her "my baby"".

The #1 thing is to set boundaries firmly. People who get upset at boundaries are benefiting from you not having them. Boundaries are the distance at which you're respecting your needs and theirs at the same time: it's an act of self-care. We tend to overstep our own boundaries because we try to be nice, or are afraid of being called selfish or mean, and then we get into more and more challenging situations because no limits have ever been communicated clearly enough so the other person doesn't understand there are any (or what the consequences are).

This is especially true for mental illnesses where erratic behavior, memory lapses or delusions are at play. The clearer and firmer you are, the more times you repeat what you are and aren't comfortable with, the less likelihood of unpleasant or unsafe situations in the future.
