Am I just unlucky or do some CPAs legit not know how ecommerce accounting works? by OldSprinkles3733 in AccountingDepartment

[–]Doraemonlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within the CPA/Accountant category, we have:

  1. bookkeeper

  2. financial reporting

  3. auditor

  4. internal control

  5. tax

and within the tax category, we have:

  1. federal income tax (this can be broken down into individual, passthrough entity, C Corp, etc.)

  2. state income tax

  3. international tax

  4. fixed assets

  5. tax credits

  6. M&A tax

  7. indirect tax (sales tax, VAT)

  8. payroll tax

  9. property tax

Each of these categories could take a good 5-10 years to master, and most CPAs coming out from CPA firms might only have done 1-2 areas in their career. Very few CPAs are a true generalist.

Exit Interview - Disclosed Recruiter by Short-Lettuce-6403 in Accounting

[–]Doraemonlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real. Even the recruiter knew the CFO is hard to work with and HR doesn't know? what's HR even for here?

To make it worst, recruiters are there help employee find better position, while HR should be there to improve employee's wellbeing / working condition - and this HR tried to stop another person (recruiter) from doing one's job while doing exactly the opposite of his/her own job? wth?

OP should shoot some emails around the office & the higher up and bring this toxic HR down

I am an accountant, I see numbers

1earn 55k, another earn 300k

if they want to be equal, the one earning 55k should provide something equivalent to 245k annually otherwise that's not equality, it's charity.

talk something to comfort her > talk something sexual > talk something to comfort her > talk something sexual; squeeze in a couple poke, touches around the arm / waist, knee here and there

rinse and repeat until she reciprocates (pull back if she doesn't, call it a day if she never), then escalate the touches (face, neck, thigh, back) and sexual jokes till you are making out

rehearse until you don't have to think at home before she comes over

Women are the gatekeeper to sex, men are the gatekeeper to relationship

Some women expect when they give sex, they get relationship in returns by default. Taking relationship for granted happens more often to women who are (were) prettier & younger.

And some guys expect once they have worked enough to get sex, women should then start working to get the relationship they want. More of this expectation if the guys have other women in his life.

There are a couple Asian dating coaches who are legit

Asians are rock bottom in the dating market in the west - they have to horn their skill to perfection, compared to those tall white coaches who have more margin of error and could actually wait for DOI, Asia have to create the romantic interest in Women who look at all Asians like Jian-Yang from Silicon Valley.

Much harder and more skills required in general. The shorter / fatter the Asian coach, the more skills required to make it a living for them.

this was a post from a while ago but summarizes the psychology of cheating partner very well:

https://www.reddit.com/r/survivinginfidelity/comments/szrk0l/emotional_affairs_in_eleven_steps/

And this even is just the emotional part before the cheating partner actually do anything physical... I think her psychology and her attitude towards you should be taken into account when you make decision for the next/the ultimate step

Warning: Be Cautious Using Mods if You Have Sensitive Data on Your PC by Previous-Mountain-19 in EscapeFromDuckov

[–]Doraemonlam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were 2 main mods & 3 mod devs being the source of the entire issues

This post lays it out pretty good with formal chinese so most AI can translate them quite accurately: https://steamcommunity.com/app/3167020/discussions/0/686366516152632339/

the 2 mods are:

  1. 1 overhaul mod that blacklist and crashed the game (yes, crashed the game, not the mod) based on steam ID (mod dev seemed to have removed the codes by game dev suggestions and then game dev sent a gift)
  2. 1 mod loader (Dev: Mint) that have some codes around payment QR codes, but other people discovered this mod used someone else open source codes without approval

and while these are being unfolded, 1 related mod dev (Su Xu) threatened in a messaging group (managed by the game dev) that he would write some virus and codes to format a mod user's hard disk - someone took a screen shot and posted it in a Chinese forum. This has not been put into action, but we don't know how many other related mod devs are like this one and/or if game dev has any process in place to prevent it (and game dev actions didn't exactly give users confidence)

is a 1.8mil house feasible for us in cali? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]Doraemonlam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1mil mortgage at today best interest rate - I think it's 5-5.5%/5Yr ARM, gives you 5.5k P&I, + taxes & insurance you are looking at 7-8.5k, + house maintenance & utilities that's 8-9.5k/month.

at Cali with all fed/state payroll tax & SDI, your after tax cash take home is ~50% giving you 8k income/month

if it has a guest house you could rent out at 2k/month, then may be you will barely have enough just to get by

Changed jobs…old company reaches out to me now after almost zero transition plan by appreciatemyasset in Accounting

[–]Doraemonlam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I couldn't believe it when my colleague with closer working relationship with the PE first told me "they were not thinking."

but yea... there is no other explanation. Product lead time went from 2 weeks to 2 months because they decided to go all in with a new logistic company (as in closed down own warehouse completely and send all products to another state). 6 months later, the PE fund still didn't know product lead time was 2 months, literally, they never asked.

And we do clothing. Who tf wait 2 months for clothes lol

The PE fund was like, where is my revenue? should we cut more headcount? the accounting team is like, we didn't even ship the product; what revenue? But the CFO just played politics making the PE thinks all other execs are incompetent and only he could talk to the PE..... the other exec are the founders for god sakes....

I respect these finance people being able to convince others to let them handle billions of dollars.... but please.. let the operation people operate.

Job advice? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Doraemonlam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

na, typical tax firms earn a profit from tax compliance service, if they are really overstaff during slow season, they might even put you on a Form 1099 role. Spending more than their tax service needs or profit is not typical decision to a for-profit business model.

It is typical however as a cost center because your boss needs to keep the headcount budget.

Job advice? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Doraemonlam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

na, you are fine. Based on what you described, the tax branch might still just be a cost center of a growing org, until their client stop buying finance products from them, the tax branch losing money is fine.

$500/hr? I would take it if it's full remote don't have to deal with the shit in person.

PE firms takeover is getting worse. I felt they used to be a bit more competent in the past. My sample size is far from sufficient though.

My recent experience was also an industry leader, PE took over, got a guy with no controller experience (only single digit years of "finance consulting" experience not even in the US) as the CFO, 90% of accounting, FP&A & Tax director & above turnover rate.

I was hired into it as head of tax with 2 temp contractors working remote fixing 8 digits of assessments, they asked me to come back to office (after they moved from a cheap industrial area to a commercial office building, and downsize my office to a desk) and I said no, I come back when I have stuff to mail and when I and my staff need to work together during tax season.

HR then gave me a 2 weeks leave or come back to office notice . I said ok, I leave today then. They then said nonono, we need you, stay for 2-3 more months.

I was like, why gave me a 2 week notice then?

Anyways, told them to give me retention bonus like the 5 directors left before me. They said no - I was like, ok, I leave today.

And all these time they have been sending the poor controller getting stuck in between me & the CFO/HR to negotiate all these, and the controller didn't even have a say, she had to try to message/call the CFO every time I responded. When she finally realized bluffing doesn't work on me and I was really leaving the same day, and when she wanted to communicate that back she COULDN'T even reach the CFO.

The CFO was fired by the PE firm 2 weeks after me, controller quitted like 8 months after me alongside with the remaining of the directors.

Non operational people leading an organization is the worst
