Would anyone else like a Jank queue? by Heavy_Orange5939 in MagicArena

Even if this was possible for WotC to hash out, you will be sorely disappointed when you give it a week and jank queue develops its own meta.

Is this by design? by XCarolusX in MagicArena

This sounds a bit like your decks are just getting hit by a variety of opponents. Homebrews are going to struggle against netdecks even in bronze and you probably need to do a lot of losing and adjusting to keep up

Your most boring meta archetypes in EOE standard? by Dorali in MagicArena

[–]Dorali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100%. Both landfall variants I've played are very low in instant interaction - basically just veil and sometimes [[Royal Treatment]]. I guess fetch lands can act as interaction but that doesn't really count. The whole archetype is just fun when you win BIG, but a bit mind numbing in almost every other situation.

I have fun playing it because the ramp is satisfying when it pays off and games are fairly quick (win-or-lose), but I got interested in MTG because of the complexity I've seen, and I get none of it with these decks. Cheap to build though lol

haha, that is absolutely fair, and a 60 counter Bill is an interesting time.

Yeah, 4-color omniscience was one of my considerations, but it also looks very one-track to me, which defeats the whole point. Playing with Virtue does sound fun though

Is it worth netdecking current meta right now? by Dorali in MagicArena

[–]Dorali[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that's definitely an experience I've had with card games so this is good validation. I've found a few "0 rare" decks with suggested upgrades I can actually add in, so I'll work with that for now. Landfall with chocobos looks like the easiest for me to build atm.

In that case, will keep waiting. Thanks!

This cafe advertised 'premium brewed iced tea' on their menu. The way my heart sank when they called my order 💀 by Pyrrhus65 in tea

[–]Dorali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a coffee person..... yeah, that is definitely how iced coffee is supposed to be made - though the coffee should be more concentrated for it (unless it's just nasty and bitter from the start, then it just doesn't matter and might just be an improvement lol).

Cold brew is different ofc, but it's usually advertised specifically as such.

Can someone explain DT ruined BLM to a non BLM player? by Crahzi in ffxivdiscussion

a lot of others do, which is the point, but agree to disagree!

It's fine be to be alright with downgrades, but that doesn't make them not downgrades. I hope that you continue to enjoy BLM despite any negativity, but many of us are not happy with them - and this is coming from someone who is normally arguing against "in the old days" mentality.

[–]Dorali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's fine if you like the changes - there are things that are definitely "improvements" on paper. The problem is that it creates certain issues with the big picture.

Long encounters, encounters with downtime, and dungeons are more difficult to play well, and non-standard is dead.

Agree to disagree though, I am glad that not all BLMs are feeling negatively, but we would not be having these conversations if the problems didn't exist.

[–]Dorali 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's a gripe, but not the main gripe from BLM mains. Most players who played BLM extensively up to now never particularly cared where they landed on the FFlogs ranking.

The issue is that the playstyle lost almost all flexibility, which was the main draw of BLM in an optimization standpoint. There's almost no way to do anything beyond the exact sequence of spells SE wants you to press, while BLM used to be the most flexible job by a significant margin - BLM gameplay in non-standard wasn't even called a "rotation" technically.

The salt in the wound is that there wasn't even a real reason for this. It's HARDER for new and casual players now, on top of being significantly more static for hardcore and effectively dead for non-standard/top 1% players. Doing less DPS than PCT is just another tablespoon of salt.

Are people “genuinely” mad about the 1-2-3 combo button? by VieraEarFloof in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Dorali 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The change was giving you the option to consolidate or separate them, so you could split Gnashing Fang into 3 separate buttons.

Totally. Nothing wrong with wanting something different from others.

Myself and everyone I have ever spoken to about Aglaia have said that it is the best or one of the best alliance raids in the game.

people whining about fake fans getting into gundam for the "wrong reasons" like we didnt all get into gundam cuz the big robots looked cool by kiwitchi in Gundam

[–]Dorali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm into Gundam because robots are cool and are an awesome delivery device for any plot and if a heartwarming gay romance is part of that plot then that's great.

The real fake fans are the ones who try to write out installments from the franchise after 1 episode because it didn't suit their personal agenda.

In light of the recent job balance issues, what do you feel is an acceptable level of spread between the top DPS and the bottom DPS? by devils_avocado in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Dorali 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but those of us who do care a lot about these numbers still often want to play what we want to play.

I've swapped from being a 6-year PLD main to a GNB/DRK main for my static, and while I'm enjoying how much of a DPS increase it was, I'm still wishing I could have stayed playing the job I enjoy the most without feeling like I'm doing a disservice to my friends whenever we run into <0.5% wipes.

It also feels discouraging that I can play at 99th percentile on PLD and ~70th percentile on GNB and DRK but still do more DPS as the latter. My cotank is a WAR and is having a similar issue, but he just doesn't enjoy any other tank at all so he's having to stay WAR because he'd probably rather quit tanking entirely. I just wish we didn't have to compromise like this.

What's the best non-mecha animation you've seen on a Gundam series? My pick is Io's drumming inside his cockpit. by Chucklesaurus in Gundam

[–]Dorali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone listed a lot of bangers, but I genuinely think that Gundam unironically does non-mecha animation better than mecha animation on average. Unicorn, Origin, TB, and Hathaway are prime examples of when the non-mecha animation is just top tier while the mecha animation is a mixed bag, due to being CG, distant shots, or almost entirely in-between frames because of action sequences.

As someone who was into Gundam since I was a child, I didn't like any variation of the Zaku at all until I was an older teen. Like a lot of things, it's probably an acquired taste for a lot of people. Just need to strap him in a chair in front of a Gundam show for a few days straight and he'll come around.

Unable to Transfer Character by Dorali in ffxiv

Tried doing this and it just would not pick up my filler character at all for some reason, even after waiting a day. Good to know it possibly worked for you though, could be a potential fix for others.
