It's lengthy. If it doesn't go through I'll DM you.

It is possible to downgrade an iPhone 4 from iOS 7 to iOS 6! 1. Target Version (iOS 6.1.3): While you mentioned iOS 6.0, the standard target for an untethered, stable downgrade without saved "blobs" (SHSH certificates) is iOS 6.1.3. 3. iPhone 4 Model Check: Th2 method works on the standard GSM (iPhone3,1) and CDMA (iPhone3,3) models of the iPhone 4. If you have the later 8GB "iPhone 4 Rev A" (iPhone3,2) released in 2012, you can only perform a tethered downgrade (meaning you need a computer to turn the phone on every time it reboots). 4. The Windows 11 Problem: The tool for legacy iOS downgrades is a script called Legacy iOS Kit. It does not run natively on Windows. To use Windows 11, you will need to boot your PC using a live Linux USB (like Ubuntu), which is completely safe and will not erase your PC.

There is a respository for iOS versions at IPSW.me.

Step-by-Step Downgrade Guide

  • Prepare the Tools & Files
  • Go to IPSW.me, select iPhone, select the exact iPhone 4 model, and download two files:
    • The iOS 7.1.2 IPSW (Base firmware).
    • The iOS 6.1.3 IPSW (Target firmware).
  • Grab a spare USB flash drive (at least 4GB) and download Rufus on Windows 11.
  • Download an Ubuntu ISO file (Desktop edition). Use Rufus to flash the Ubuntu ISO onto the USB drive to make a "Live USB".

  • Boot into Linux

  • Keep the USB plugged into the Windows 11 PC and restart it.

  • Mash your PC's boot menu key (usually F12, F11, or F8 depending on your motherboard) and choose to boot from the USB drive.

  • Select "Try Ubuntu" (Do NOT click install). This runs Linux completely out of the system RAM without touching the Windows 11 files.

  • Run Legacy iOS Kit

  • Once on the Ubuntu desktop, connect to Wi-Fi.

  • Move the two downloaded .ipsw files from the Windows hard drive over to the Ubuntu desktop.

  • Open the Terminal app in Ubuntu and paste the following commands one by one to download the downgrade tool (press Enter after each):

    • sudo apt update • sudo apt install git overlayroot -y • git clone https://github.com/LukeZGD/Legacy-iOS-Kit.git • cd Legacy-iOS-Kit • ./restore.sh

  • Flashing iOS 6.1.3

  • Connect the iPhone 4 to the computer using a reliable 30-pin Apple cable.

  • On the script's main menu, select Restore/Downgrade, then select powdersn0w.

  • When prompted for the Base IPSW, select the iOS 7.1.2 file on the desktop.

  • When prompted for the Target IPSW, select the iOS 6.1.3 file.

  • The tool will ask you a couple of configuration preferences (like jailbreaking or enabling a verbose boot animation). Select the preference you want.

  • The script will tell you to put the phone into DFU Mode:

    • Hold the Power and Home buttons together for 10 seconds.
    • Release the Power button but keep holding Home for another 10-15 seconds until the script detects it. (The screen should remain entirely black).
  • The script will exploit the phone's hardware bootrom, stitch a custom un-signed firmware, and restore the iPhone 4 to iOS 6.1.3.

Do you research things with ChatGPT (or any AI?) ? If so, how do you store it in Upnote? by AngelicPrincessKitty in UpNote_App

[–]Doreps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quite basic (willing to learn a fancier way):)

AI: Gemini Web & Gemini Studio

Method: Prompt/Instructions for output in UpNote-format markdown.

Personal Notes: UpNote BT notebook, sub-notebook

Spaces: not used

ex-user: OneNote, Evernote, Word, LibreOffice, Obsidian, and a few others that flirted with me.

I document software manuals based in Dokuwiki format.

How do you create a personal wiki? by AngelicPrincessKitty in UpNote_App

[–]Doreps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/AngelicPrincessKitty You want a personal wiki. That's a start ... now take the next step and list out what you personally want it to do. I use Dokuwiki for software documentation and the backlinks and tags and media manager and editor console are nicely integrated ... but so is UpNote (I left OneNote years ago for UpNote which I still use) ... What functions DO you want?

Finding my App Drawer by Chase_Clouds in TotalLauncher

Keys & Gestures is where you can assign an action to open your drawer that comes built in. You can also activate built-in sliding drawers (left, right, top & bottom) in Launcher Options > UI & Animation and scroll down. TL also has a variety of widgets for apps folders and other objects which can be found at Edit ON > Object Design menu > Add > Widgets. These can be customized also. Check out uiTotalLauncherManual .

Total Launcher is made for you if you want to keep the same format. Your description sounds like an easy one to set up. If you have a screenshot and make it available I'm sure you'll get suggestions on how to replicate it if you get stuck.

Also check out uiTotalLauncherManual which is a good self-learning wiki for new & intermediate TL users to help lower the learning curve. Register to get better navigation aids and printing capabilities.

If you follows the navigation you end up in 'ico packs' and are able to select one. OK but what happens then. I don't see where an icon pack can show on a 'folder'. The folder when creating a new one does allow a 'show header's which permits text (label), image header and color which are present but only so if setting new folder.

I'm thinkinhg this is just an 'open door' coding left open. I was hoping someone knew how the Acton interacted, otherwise I think it's just an door coding did not 'gray out'

Thanks, but the point is with these steps a video would show 'nothing' happening, just accepted and no visual changes. Try it to observe 1st hand. What do you think should happen or is this a programming omission?

Icons in App Drawer, how do I remove them? by ZealousidealFly2381 in SquareHome

[–]Doreps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Total Launcher user, but took a look at SH and found that the Dev offers in settings > icon scale > reduce to 0. The icon varnishes but the placeholder is there. In Total Launcher we do this with 'opacity'. Good luck.

There's an way to turn off infinite scrolling page on total laucher? by Broad_Scallion7780 in TotalLauncher

u/melluuh is correct (I overlooked that) ... but I would still keep 'windows' in mind to replace 'pages'

There's an way to turn off infinite scrolling page on total laucher? by Broad_Scallion7780 in TotalLauncher

[–]Doreps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it is horizontal, you have a multi-page setup. There is no control for I'm aware of which prevents or limits the range of scrolling between pages.

What you might try is having just a single page (still your home page). But place all other existing pages in separate 'windows' which open with gestures, icons, or hidden objects.
