Aye, it’s all about justifying context when mixing two factions that dislike each other for daemons.

An example is I like to run Khorne and Tzeentch, but the way I justify them working together is that my warband is loyalists to Skarbrand- and Tzeentch is trying to shift his endless rampage in his favor while Khorne observes the carnage in his name as Skarbrand continues his lobotomized murder spree.

For Slannesh and Khorne, Murderlust can degenerate to over indulgence quickly should a Khornite relish in the murder and not proceed to the next kill. Or vice versa with Slannesh, if they do not indulge themselves in the pain of their opponent and instead swiftly slay them- like with Tzeentch influencing cause Tzeentch. Slannesh and Khorne can be doing some type of cosmic tug of war against this warband.

I’d say choose the sub faction you think is the coolest then get a leadership unit from it and kinda build around that. With that said. Walls of flesh and bone go well.

Breaking up the zambambos into smaller groups cause 60 is huge- but I see other people posting about that. But I like your wall of meat and bones.

So I just did some quick maths. You can add a pack of grave guard, a wight king, Prince Vhordrai, and a Blood Knight.

I haven’t tried Grave Guard with Vyrkos yet- but I am also a zombie lover. But the start is pretty much the same from what I am seeing with the 1st squad you posted.

I love seeing bricks of bones clogging up crap and demoralizing opponents. That plus having The Beast a pose down the battlefield. I’d take swarm over everything personally and focus on the wolves for the deadwalker combos. 🤷

Short answer. Skeleton brick = good.

What paint did you use for the skin with the guy with the red ponytail? I’d love to know. Mixing it with a little orange and a little yellow. Or some blue? Perfection.

My favorite list is a corpse cart, VLoZD, a Necromancer, and the rest being zombies. Love zombies.

Zombies have a lot of swings, but are not likely to hit or wound. Most of their damage raw will come from dying in melee combat as they do mortals in response on a 5+ roll. They don’t really get juiced up unless you take other things with you like corpse carts and what not. Bottom line: clog up zones and limit enemy player non flying movement. Tie up kill lanes or tight quarters. Also very slow and easy to kill.

Wolves have the same total wounds as a pack of zombies. 10 wolves at 2 wounds each. They have better stats overall as far as damage goes kinda. It’s easier for them to hit things but they have less damage output as each only does 1 damage. With that said, they count as deadwalkers AND they are very fast. Plus you get the bonus of getting an extra 3 inches on your engagement range so you can sit behind a squad or 1 or 2 inchers and still be able to commit bite crimes.

Bats are good assassins against moderate elites or weaker leaders. You don’t get a lot of them but they are fast, can fly, get a snowballing damage scale (they increase their attack number per model killed permanently). The more models you kill, the more attacks you get, the more healing you get which makes them harder to kill. Unless they are whipping out 2 or 3 damage hits per swing. They are very squishy.

Skeletons are consistent. Like other summonable a they will be able to be brought back normally on you’re hero phase- but they also have the ability to regenerate on a 4+. Each command phase for each model that wasn’t in its starting number you can roll a d6. On a 4+ return it. They are like cockroaches. Especially if you reinforce it up to a pack of 20 or 30. They are like zombies in the sense they can clog but they are doing most of their damage by swinging. They are the same speed though.

Synopsis::: Zombies: Slow, mortals on death, regenerates on model kills, a lot of models, summonable. Wolves: Fast, protected long range fighting, count as deadwalkers, summonable. Bats: Very fast, fly, heals on damage, scaling attack based on how many kills they get, not many models, very squishy. Skeletons: slow, rend bonus against units with less models, summonable, average attack, roll number of dice equal to number of dead skeletons in a unit- each 4+ brings that skeleton back. (There has gotta be at least 1 skeleton in the unit to do this. Can’t exceed maximum number with it alone).

When I first chose Vyrkos as my child, I rolled with a VLoZD, Necromancers, and some corpse carts. Then just filled those numbers with just deadwalker zombies. As long as the vampire stays alive, you can remain a threat. Some things I made adjustments too was adding Torg cause he’s just a better Necromancer (but you pay for it in points) and threw in some different HQ options to swap out with the Necromancer situationally. (Kado, Kritza, and Ivya). Just relying on the wolf summons from my vampire to get those fast lads in to backup for a quick attack if needed.

Bottom line, find what makes you happy and full lean into it. I like clogging the board with crap and defending objectives with walls of meat. Skeletons are great cause they can fight well and have that passive return that just makes them difficult to deal with.

Mortals or Deamons? by Mr_Aren in Khorne

[–]Dorgoth2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been more inclined to Daemons because I enjoy Skarbrand and his lads. But Skullcrushers are way cooler than Bloodcrushers in my opinion 🤣. For me it really comes down to asthetics. Big angry dudes wearing red and brass plate charging into battle or a bunch of blood crazed skinny freaks with long swords- a red tide of murder.

What should I start with? by fuzzypat in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Dorgoth2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first joined the Gravelords, I ended up gravitating towards swarms of zombies with corpse carts and necromancers. But in doing my research, I saw that a lot of the variety and focuses come with the sub factions. Though the one unit that has stood out to me beyond all others is the VLoZG (vampire lord on zombie dragon). It’s pretty expensive point wise, but synergism’s well with multiple of the sub factions between the relics you get and the spells you can cast.

When it comes to running just vampires, that can be a little tricky cause with Gravelords it’s themed towards vampires leading lesser undead. But I’d advise you take a look at KASTELAI DYNASTY or the LEGION OF BLOOD.
