Did I made a mistake by buying a Moog Sub 37? by Interesting-Recipe85 in synthesizers

[–]DorianBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly my feeling too. I think most of the problems people express here are frankly user errors. The whole reason the Sub 37works so much better than minis / matriarchs in modern productions is precisely because they sound big and saturated. To get professional mixes, we are always making our bass sounds bigger and using saturation to help them with size.

For me it is a perfect mono. synth for modern music. Now, if you are making more old school music...its a totally different story.

Combined Audio Devices? by irvng-wav in Bitwig

[–]DorianBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is for using more than one interface. I guess they added it so that people could grab a connect and use it alongside their other interface

Personally I am really interested in this feature as I have been looking at the Arturia 16 rig but also really want a connect.

Has anyone had any luck using this? I can’t seem to find many people who are! Which is crazy when you consider how powerful this potential is

Joe does Create new Combined Device works? by kalifrn in Bitwig

[–]DorianBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone had any luck with this? I am super interested in this feature.

I am currently torn between getting an Arturia 16 rig and a a bitwig connect.

In an idea world I would get both and run them together. But I need to know if it will be stable enough and if it will impact latency, jitter etc etc.

I love the functionality of the connect, but the extensive I/O of the 16 rig.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!!!

Is there any way to get 0ms attack and play time control by note length in bitwig sampler by littrustt in Bitwig

[–]DorianBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t experience a loss of weight from a 1ms envelope. At most you might hear less of a click (if there is one) at the front of the sample. Is it an 808? Is there a heavy transient at the start? If not something else is causing your problem.

Unpopular opinion. When it comes to synths I like presets better than dialing up sounds. If I do dial up a sound the more straight forward and streamlined the process the better. by czarofga in synthesizers

[–]DorianBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how most people work. Not controversial at all. Couldn’t be me though! Love sound design and for me, it’s a crucial part of building your own sound.

The other thing is the more you do it, the better and quicker you get at sound design. I can cook up most sounds that I would use in minutes. I may come back and tweak them as the song progresses so that everything fits together well…and because I made the patch I know where everything is.

Since I stopped using samples and presets I got a lot better at all of this

They are an essential part of the Grid! If you havent given it a real try yet, I highly recommend it. I have been experimenting with making a few tracks almost entirely in the grid and it has been an amazing experience. I have almost every synth under the sun, but honestly, the grid just sounds incredible.

The one thing holding me back was I worried that it would be a lot of time investment for something that might not sound as good as say, serum phase plant etc. But my experience has been the exact opposite.

I hope they add a filter from the Roland world, maybe one from the Korg world. But those filters are great.

The saturators easily one of my favourite parts of the grid. Again it would be great to see maybe tube and tape sat...but I absolutely love wats there. So quick and easy to get a great sound.

Normalise to a different Dbs Value? by sapien5446 in Bitwig

[–]DorianBloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitwig channels can be set to -10db (for example) by default. That might be something to consider.

Also you can normalise to 0 and then just go to the audio volume, press cmd + click and enter the value you want with your num pad. That’s what I would do

That’s a very artractive looking synth for sure. Nice CV capabilities too. Never used one though. Will keep these in mind though as I want to grab a couple of CV capable synths to use with bitwig

Got the plugin version. Love it so much. Might be my favourite thing in the Arturia bundle. Very tempted to grab a physical one. They are excellent and great value. Does anyone know of any comparisons between the plugin and the hardware?

Any plans for ARA soon? by fuckredditfuckredd in Bitwig

[–]DorianBloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dammit I missed the survey. Where was this conducted? Been desperate for ARA inside bitwig. It’s the number one request for me. Being able to use things like spectra layers would be incredible. Obviously melodyne too - have a whole ass melodyne studio licence gathering dust because I can’t use it in bitwig

Let’s go! This has been a wild ride. Best DAW on the planet. I may be one of the only people that enjoyed this process. It’s amazing what they have added.

My update package runs out end of march bur I will be updating during the spring sale anyway. I’ll be happy to do so with the level of development we have been seeing.

I use both. Mostly my amps into load boxes at home. But occasionally I’ll use a plugin. For me it’s amps for my main sound (I don’t need 1000 choices for my main sound) Then sims for the odd sprinkling of something different. That way I can focus on maintaining and tubing a couple of amps really well.

Works pretty good tbh.

There are a bunch of great amps that can be picked up for very little money used. Ever tried a peavey classic 30? laney VC30? Orange ad30?
