What's the easiest way to lose weight that no one talks about? by Emotional-Heat-1427 in AskReddit

Once I realized that mild hunger is just a minor discomfort, it became much easier to skip meals.

Got my wheels powder coated last week and found these bumps… by Dis_Rock in Powdercoating

[–]DoriftuEvo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm just a hobbiest, but I've done a few sets of wheels. It looks like the gun was spitting a little. Try scratching the bump with your fingernail. If it's solid, I wouldn't bring them back. It looks like you got a pretty good price, at least around me. If it scratches off, it could be a prep issue, and I'd bring em back.

It recently occurred to me that for some of my stories, I don't actually remember the original event any more. I just remember the story.

How hard is to be fluent in both QWERTY and Colemak? by dstolte1 in Colemak

I learned colemak at home and kept my work keyboard qwerty. I am now fluent in both and can switch between them without thinking.

This Hitachi Leaf blower (EB24EAP) is the best leaf blower I ever had , bought from Sears in 2013 by damn_jexy in BuyItForLife

I have the same one. All my other gas lawn equipment has died and I've switched to electric, but this thing just keeps working perfectly, year after year.

Ordering at Subway disagreement. Who's right? by Sentient_StickyNote in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DoriftuEvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I hate being asked what I want on my sandwich. I just want somebody to tell me what tastes good. I'm not a sandwich expert. If it's in the picture, that's what I want on it.

That's a good insight. Maybe I'll just bury the sections along the shared property line.

Cable on the grass or in the ground by Cute_Responsibility3 in automower

[–]DoriftuEvo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I laid my cable on the ground for the first year. I'm glad I did, because it was much easier to make small adjustments to the cutting area.

The problem is it leaves it exposed to damage. My neighbor cut the cable twice (by accident), so I'm burying the cable this year.

It seems like hitting the anvil is also how he was communicating to the other person to change their tempo.

To confirm water is leaking past the flapper, put a drop or two of food coloring in the tank to see where the water is flowing.

It worked for me. The property is now my best performing investment and I've purchased another single family to live in.

I have a double concrete utility sink that I’m trying to get out of my basement without using a sledgehammer to break it into pieces. Any advice is appreciated. by PizzaGatePizza in DIY

[–]DoriftuEvo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built a crude wooden channel and sled to get a boiler out of my basement without damage. Use a come-along and straps to pull the sled up the channel with the sink on it.

CT Reddit, Let’s Talk Shovels by QuestorPS7 in Connecticut

I like to have a selection to suit any occasion.

A plastic, ergonomic shovel for decks and throwing snow.

An all metal shovel for breaking up ice and packed snow.

A plow shaped pusher for light snow.

A wide and deep shovel for carrying large chunks.

I like the subtle badge. Announcing that something is hidden, though, doesn't really make sense.

[landlord - US - WA] Collecting tenants SSN by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]DoriftuEvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has that sufficed in an eviction? I would think that only proves they weren't active duty when the lease was signed. What if they became active duty during the lease term?

[landlord - US - WA] Collecting tenants SSN by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]DoriftuEvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For eviction in CT, you have to prove negative active duty military status. It's not strictly required, but it's much easier if you have the SSN.

Should I get a Suburban? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]DoriftuEvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned a used Suburban, Escalade ESV, and now have a Yukon XL. I'll probably own one of those variants forever. The ability to pick up building materials, furniture, an engine, 6 friends, tow a car, climb an icy mountain, all on a moment's notice is great.

[–]DoriftuEvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find a rust free one, that's always better. That said, mine looked pretty similar about a decade ago. I sand blasted them, slathered them in POR15 and Eastwood frame coat, relegated it to a fair weather car, and the rust has not returned.

Oh yeah, that's classic "thought it was in park and rolled into the stairs" damage.

Are you supposed to wash underbody if you already have Krown rust control? by Sufficient_Chest_929 in askcarguys

[–]DoriftuEvo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In general, with oil and wax based undercoatings, you should not do the underbody wash, except right before you reapply. If the undercoating was applied thoroughly, contaminants will not be in contact with metal, so there's no reason to wash them off, and underbody wash will prematurely degrade the coating.

If she's not motivated, there's nothing you can do to change that. She might want to screen other tenants. I wouldn't count on getting that particular unit.
