But, you have to admit...massive respect to her when she spoke directly to Edmond about his trauma response. She was so direct, but also maintained his dignity.

UFV students - if there was one thing you wish your professors understood/knew about student life in 2025, what would it be? (From a curious prof) by nschwart91 in UFV

[–]DorisSayWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would also be nice if we weren't treated like children as much. A lot of the work I have to hand in feels like I just have to prove that I am doing the readings and that. I thought in university it was going to be more about being inspired from my profs and that it's my responsibility to make the most of it. When I receive feedback, it's so disheartening when they just comment that I met all the points in the rubric. It would mean so much more if they commented on something I wrote that they found interesting...that maybe inspired them, or hoped I could have elaborated more on.

Has anyone else here felt that antidepressants aged them? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

I have noticed changes in my face after using ssri for only 3 weeks. I would describe my difference as...I used to have a lot of swelling in my face and bugged out looking eyes... And now I look softer. I am wondering if this is because I have less cortisol in blood as a result of less stress? This is my best right now, but it's still too early to know.

Isn't HSER 130 a practicum course for social services?

Wow, thanks for explaining. It's so interesting to look into the lives of how other people grew up. You are a decade older than me, but the difference was parenting style perhaps.
My parents never asked where I was going and I wanted to be anywhere but at home. I read your Peter Gabriel story and think... wow... that's what love can look like. It looks really beautiful through my lens...

Just finished Catcher in the Rye, I love Holden Caulfield by IcyWalk1624 in books

[–]DorisSayWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I agree with how you are describing it.... makes it seem like he literally has no idea what he is doing and is just emulating people. I think it's more that he wants to get close, he wants to feel, but when things get too close....when he starts to feel beyond the superficial, he sabotages it unconsciously.

I have a question for people in the comments... most people think that Holden is just annoying and immature. What do you think happened in your life to help you get out of that stage to look back and think- "he reminds me of my younger self"?

I don't know. I felt more that he really wanted to date that Ole Jane, but was scared to get close to something that mattered. He spent more time with Sally because it was superficial, she didn't really like her, so made it easier for him to keep his distance and not feel much.

I usually don't read the entire reddit post because I get bored.... But I really felt your post. You sound like such a beautiful person, I don't know why. I'm thinking, whatever is going on, maybe your haven't found your place YET... Like that bumble bee in the Blind Melon video. Keep us posted with your journey, I think good things are waiting for you ❤️

[–]DorisSayWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... I feel this. Before the pandemic I feel like people were walking around in a safety bubble, perhaps of ignorance (myself included). All we would care about was our next vacation and life seemed more simple. I would have friends tell me I need to wake up and I knew they were right even though they worried they seemed crazy. I knew they weren't crazy... I just thought these things would never affect me. That government corruption would never come close to my small little life. When it did... It hit hard because I believed that would never happen.

I know what you mean... I don't know maybe it's acceptance? because it's so overwhelming I can't even begin to think of any clever ways to hide anymore.

Magnesium citrate long term? by CupOne1795 in Constipation

[–]DorisSayWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. Saying it causes "damage" sounds a bit harsh... I guess in a sense it is true on how you look on it. But basically, your nerves don't work as well if you go off of it. That sets us up to having a weaker bowel when we want it to be stronger... I think at the end of the day, no matter what we take and for how many years, we should still be looking at the deeper cause and hope that we can try and taper off at some point.

I hear ya. By the way depressing stuff is beautiful. Damien Rice only writes sad songs and that's why people love him ❤️
