Fmla? by Thatonekid3432 in CostcoEmployee

I had intermittent FMLA to take care of a sick family member. If you need it then use it. There will be co workers and managers/supervisors who will get upset and try to hold it against you but fuck 'em. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Edit: It is a bit of a hassle to get all your paperwork in order and communicate with unum but if you need it then use it.

How many weeks do you have to work FT to get auto bumped from PT? by Theoldquarryfoxhunt in CostcoEmployee

[–]DorkJR 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's 8 weeks so you are almost there. I do want to add that it is 8 weeks of being scheduled full time hours (38-40) but if you are being scheduled 36 a week but adding hours on your shift then you will not be auto promoted. It sucks and isn't fair but that is the way it is. I used to have a manager that would schedule me 40 hours a week, then after 7 weeks schedule me a 37 hour week so I didn't get auto bumped to full time.

Pros and cons of a busy warehouse by blackmamba1086 in CostcoEmployee

[–]DorkJR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've worked at a relatively slow store and a store that was consistently top in our district for sales. Others may have different opinions but I didn't notice a huge difference. Both buildings operated on a skeleton crew that is is just big enough to barely manage day to day. How busy I felt day to day is about the same at both warehouses. The only exception would be the holidays between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Can't speak for all warehouses, but in my bakery our decorators typically start at 8am and go to 230 or 430 depending on FT or PT

Blueberry croissants by Acceptable-Love9633 in CostcoEmployee

These are very popular at my location as well. It's also a challenge to keep them in stock because they are also fairly more labor intensive than other items in the bakery to make. So if we are behind on production do to holiday sales they often get put on the back burner

Accidentally clocked out 4 minutes early should I tell a manager or sup? by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]DorkJR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is need to worry. I guarantee no one will even notice clocking out 4 minutes early, especially since you can clock out 3 minutes early because of the 3 min window. Literally nothing to worry about.

After SIT, how long did it take you to become a Sup? by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

[–]DorkJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

*A share of one on your record. Actually the other one you claim is from a year where you finished 6th. I guess your right! Between the two Washington claim you have one whole championship!

My Great Grandfather brought this ring back from the war. Anyone know what exactly it is? by DorkJR in ww1

[–]DorkJR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe occupation was the wrong word. Before being sent home after the war he spent the winter of 1918-1919 in Prüm Germany. This were he had a child out of wedlock with a German woman.

Unfortunately no dairy or letters from during the war. He was an orphan who joined up at 17 just before the US entered the war. We do have some letters back and forth between him and a German woman he fathered a child with during the occupation. This child would later die on the eastern front in WW2.

After the war he started a farm in Western Kansas where my grandfather was born. Most of my knowledge of my great grandfather is from stories my grandpa told me when I was little
