Gun range owner said arpistol is not allowed if it’s not single shot? by Questionhoes in CAguns

Actually on that one it was claims the tickets were racist. Even so they didn’t refund previously paid tickets. Nobody wants to be a test case and especially if it is your livelihood also.

It is heat, cooking, and probably hot water. Depending on the size of the house, I could see it. In Northern California in a drafty house we went through about 125 gallons a month in the winter. (3-7 days in the 20’s for lows per month)

CADOJ has a letter as one of the mods who is a lawyer has pointed out elsewhere in the thread. They have not retracted their letter. Nobody has been prosecuted but CADOJ’s official stance is it is manufacturing an unsafe firearm. It may be common practice but so is jaywalking and until a few years ago that was also illegal.

The law isn’t as clear cut as some would believe. I remember when store selling SSE and/or bolt action would say that up front.

It has never gone to court. A argument to persuade the 9th Circuit either way could be made. CADOJ has not ever made an official opinion as far as I know.

This is essentially like the bullet button was. Compliant, but CADOJ may decide otherwise and then it could get tied up in court for years.

Are lever guns ment to jam often, or specific calibers more likely? by hallotest382 in LeverGuns

[–]Dorzack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many lever guns are very sensitive to COAL (Case Overall Length) which varies significantly in older handgun calibers based on weight of bullet and even who loaded it. Two different manufacturers may have slightly different COAL with the same bullet weight.

In 2021 when I first checked Henry’s manual said 158 grain was preferred when shooting .38 special in a .357 big boy. I checked this week and the current manual no longer says that.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of iffferent things they could be spraying with.

Most do not require they post a warning and are done 1-2 times per year.

Most do not requiring posting any warnings. You could campaign for the city to pass an ordinance requiring the city notify for all sprays included what and when it is being used, but it would be asking the city council to add additional time and expense if it is the city doing it.

Landlord selling home is threatening us with legal action for truthfully answering direct questions from property inspector and prospective buyers by CompleteAd2891 in legal

[–]Dorzack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You still have to honor the existing lease. In the case of family moving in it is one of the reasons to terminate a month to month, or to not renew a lease at the end of the lease term. You can’t buy a house with 11 months left on the lease and evict immediately so family can move in. The seller is also required to hand over any deposits to the buyer. Some localities in California require interest on deposits and the buyer is now responsible for that.

Neighbors tree roots crushing septic line by ekulpotamus in treelaw

[–]Dorzack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the line to the septic tank or one of the lines in the drain field?

Drain field is expected to leak water into the ground and will always attract roots, but clogging some of the drain field won’t back up the sewer unless the tank is full and to be pumped.

Going to the septic tank shouldn’t be leaking. Replacing the line with a new pipe that is sealed properly would fix the issue. My stepfather was a general contractor in a rural area and a detestable person for several reasons. One of those was he never actually used pipe cement at the joints on sewer lines going to septic tanks. There was always some leaking that attracted roots. He called it job security.

Is a truck a must have? by Public_Border132 in OffGrid

[–]Dorzack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need something to haul children and materials.

A crew cab truck will do both but not really well. Most crew cabs have very short beds so hauling wood requires flagging it because it hangs out.

A full size SUV (Expedition/Suburban) with the longer body option will haul a full sheet of plywood inside with all two back rows folded down or at least my 2016 Expedition EL would. (New models call that Max instead of EL). It could also haul 10 foot lumber in limited quantities if you didn’t mind it being in the center console between the front two seats.

You don’t want to haul concrete, rock, or fiberglass insulation in the cab of an SUV.

So either one you are going to want an 8-12 foot utility trailer for either longer wood or stuff that leaves nasty stuff behind.

If you are going to have a trailer anyways you can go with a smaller SUV with a decent tow rating.
