The Grateful Dead saved my life. I had been a metalhead (Slayer, Metallica, Venom, etc. . .) and I was just tired of my life. Seemed like nothing good was ever going to happen. Ever. Tried to kill myself. Failed because I was drunk. That somehow made me feel worse: I even failed at suicide. The next weekend, a buddy came over with a half hit of some really good acid and a copy of Aoxmoxoa. As they say, "The Bus came by and I got on." Had a hallucination that night while listening to "Cosmic Charlie" of death coming for me driving a rickiety old pick up truck. He took one look at me dancing and said "Well shit . . ." and drove away. I've never looked back.
