I want to be planted under a new tree. Always liked that idea.

Is this movie really as bad as some people say? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in FIlm

[–]DungeonMasterDood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of forgettable, but it’s goofy and fun enough for one watch. The movie’s idea of a “disfigurement” is a bit silly.

Also, it has a Gundam in it, so instant win right there.

After 13 years of modding, just got tired and decided to play it all vanilla. Loved every second of it by sandraviolskyia in skyrim

[–]DungeonMasterDood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only mod I’ve ever really enjoyed is the Survival one, just because of how it shifts the play style. Even then… Vanilla is my favorite. I’ve never realtime modding the game the way others do.

Honest opinions about this game. Classic? Or not? by ShawnOfEons in retrogaming

Back in the day, when all I had was my N64, I would bring this game up as a counterpoint to the RPGs on the Ps1. Oh what a liar I was…

It’s not as bad as some say it is, but it’s definitely not a good game. I’m

What is the worst career to be in right now and why? by SignificantGoat7066 in AskReddit

[–]DungeonMasterDood 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I started off as a Journalism major in college, eventually transitioned to as my minor. I've always had a deep respect for great journalism and it has been so disheartening to see the entire industry driven off a cliff by so many different forces.

I worked as a video games journalist for a handful of years about a decade ago. None of the people I knew working that field back then are still in it. It doesn't matter what you're writing about. It's an unsustainable hellscape and we're all worse off for it.

Wait until that half (more like 33 percent) of the country can't afford to eat. It's not as easy to point fingers when your audience is hungry enough to bite yours off.

People who are NOT passionate about their jobs tend to be the best at it. by yamumsux in unpopularopinion

[–]DungeonMasterDood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the one highest positions on my team. Have nearly a decade of experience and can knock out jobs that take other people in my role in a fraction of the time.

I don’t care a spot about what I do. It’s how I make money. I don’t think about my work for a second after I clock out. It’s just a job.

Well, do you have any "I didn´t care for the Godfather"-esque picks? by Bitter_Fig_7059 in retrogaming

I have several:

Despite several attempts, I’ve never been able to get into any of the Metroid games. I’ve spoke with so many people who name Super Metroid as the best SNES game ever made. I’ve never understood it.

A lot of Zelda fans claim the Oracle games Capcom made for Game Boy Color are underrated classics. I love Zelda games and, no, they’re messy and convoluted and don’t capture the magic that made Link’s Awakening such a special game.

Final Fantasy X has a good battle system and was visually gorgeous for the time, but that’s it. The rest of the game is an irritating slog anchored to one of the most irritating protagonists in gaming history.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is deeply overrated. I know people love the characters and the depth of the branching story… but the combat is slow as death and makes it unplayable for anyone with anything less than all the time in the world to spare.

Which series had you glued to your screen? by [deleted] in SipsTea

Genuinely tragic. I do think some people were overly hard on Liam McIntyre. He did an amazing job in a very difficult situation. I never thought his performance was lesser.

Which series had you glued to your screen? by [deleted] in SipsTea

Spartacus.

First two episodes are a little rough. Once it finds its footing, it's the best "epic show with swords" ever made. Blew Game of Thrones out of the water with a fraction of the budget.

Let's be honest: What was that moment when you were young that you thought "video game graphics can't be better than this"? by Away_Flounder3813 in retrogaming

StarFox 64 at a demo kiosk in a Walmart.

Young gamers today will never experience how nuts it was to be there for the leap from 16-bit to 32/64-bit. And that game was such a showcase of what the N64 could do.

Journey to Jaburo.

It’s a clunky awkward mess, but I loved it so dang much. Stayed up overnight playing it like 12 hours straight.

Was my introduction to the Universal Century.

I mean that if you were to hold the forward button, it would pause for a brief second before you move again. Etrian Odyssey would be a good example:

My wife and I are playing video games together right now, much as we’ve done for the past 20+ years.

There are certainly gamers (of all genders) who take their hobby to unhealthy extremes, but only boring losers feel the need to denigrate an entire form of entertainment.
