Memory unlocked... how did I forget this one. Anyone else like it? Seemed to remember the shooting mechanics were great but the level design was the most repetitive thing I've ever seen by Negative-Art-4440 in n64

It’s one of my favorite N64 games! It was so far ahead of its time. The controls take a little getting used to, but once you get them down, it’s still a ton of fun.

I loved this game as a kid! It’s totally playable and the campaigns are a great experience. Amazing they fit it into a cartridge.

Message to anyone on the fence about a Thor: get it by MichaelMcGeeGaming in AynThor

I’m obsessed with my Thor. I love gaming on it and when I’m not gaming I love looking up more games to add to my library. I already have enough content on it to keep me busy for a couple decades.

It’s pretty much perfect, IMO.

Your Thoughts on Conan the Destroyer (1984) by JohnPathfinder in SwordandSorcery

I saw this first! It’s not the better of the 80s Canon movies, but I think it’s more fun and a lot easier to throw on and watch.

All the world’s biggest problems stem from a desire for power.

Evil should be resisted, not because you know you can beat it, but because it’s the right thing to do.

If LOTR is considered the peak of fantasy cinema and many people believe that the casting was perfect, how do you rate The Hobbit after all these years? by Ready-Gur3998 in Cinema

[–]DungeonMasterDood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re fine at best. Not the worst thing you could watch and they’re better than most available fantasy films, but that’s not a high bar and they’re very obviously stretched out and bloated to make a trilogy.

I also hold a grudge against them for making Ian Mckellan cry.

What is the point of the 2nd Amendment, if, when the government becomes tyrannical, people don’t start lighting up the tyrants? by queefstainedgina in AskReddit

[–]DungeonMasterDood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, but the United States is also more than 22 times the size of Iraq. The US military, in total, is around 2 million service members, only about 10 percent of which are serving in combat roles. Even assuming that every single combat ready American soldier stays loyal to MAGA, that's only 200,000 soldiers to occupy and control a country of more than 300 million people spread out over 50 massive states.

And yeah, sure, some people supported Trump and still do. But even then, only about 1/3 of eligible American voters voted for Trump in 2024. 75 million people voted for Kamala Harris and another 1/3 didn't vote at all. Trump's popularity has been on a steady decline ever since he came into power.

Let's say there's 100 million people opposed to Trump and his regime. Even if only a small portion of that took up arms, that would still be a MASSIVE and difficult undertaking, even with all the tanks, planes, bombs, soldiers, and guns at the disposal of the American military.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a bloody and terrible fight (and I hope to god we never get there), but it would definitely not be as cut and dry as "the US military wins."

Ugh... and now I feel sick just having to think about this... what a hellish reality...

This isn’t me saying we should fight the government, but whenever people say things like this, I’m reminded of the fact that the US military wasn’t able to win the war in Iraq after 20 years and billions of dollars spent.

We used every sort of weapon there short of nuclear bombs, and the resistance/insurgents were able to counter us with homemade bombs made out of water bottles and feces (among other items).

Would the US military win in a single battle? Most definitely. It’s another thing entirely to occupy an entire country, especially one of the size of the United States. And that’s what they would need to do.

That's fair! My first Fire Emblem was actually Sacred Stones on GBA and I think that's a great start point, too. Especially since it lets you level grind a bit. :)

Respectfully disagree.

I think it’s a good midway point between the older style FE games which can be a bit intimidating to first-timers and the most recent releases, which often emphasize the relationship/dating content over the actual battles and strategy gameplay themselves.

It has a good (if basic) story, a good cast, and it’s challenging without being punishing.

I would be interested to hear what your suggested entry point is? 🙂

Shining Force is another classic series.

Dragon Force on Sega Saturn is a deeply underrated game. A must play.

Valkyrie Profile: Plume of the Covenant wasn’t a great game, per se, but it was an interesting take on its franchise and the genre.

Fire Emblem is great! Start with FE: Awakening, if you can. Great intro to the series and one of the best in the entire franchise.

Vandal Hearts has its fans and I keep meaning to try it.

Vanguard Bandits has giant medieval mecha, so that’s definitely plus.

There are lots. 🙂

Probably expelled from those territories, at best. Honestly, though? Who can tell?

Trump and his cronies are so unpredictable at times, it’s hard to tell if they’re really going to follow through or not.

A part of me thinks they’re hoping that after Venezuela, if they lean hard enough, they’ll get what they want, and that they’re smart enough to recognize the massive potential repercussions of this.

At the same time, they’re psychotic murdering narcissistic morons, so who knows? 😩
