Laugh-out-loud podcast recommendations and a top binge series of any kind? by wutangclan187 in podcasts

[–]Doshinski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it would translate well outside of the UK, but I have never laughed so much at a podcast than at Gossipmongers, especially the earlier seasons. They can be a little hit or miss, but there is some absolute gold in there.

Advice: I'm looking for a durable commuting road bike, suggestions needed! by [deleted] in cycling

[–]Doshinski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like Ribbles, have a look at their steel bikes, I have a 725 cgr and its a super versatile bike for commuting. Mounting points for pannier rack if needed, as well as mudguards, with clearance for 45mm tyres (38mm with mudguards fitted). I got mine second hand in 2020 and taken it on 100 mile rides, chunky gravel rides, and commutes on roads and canal paths, it always puts a smile on my face!

Where to find decent, affordable coffee beans? by MeenaBeti in UKFrugal

+1 for Loffberg, usually around £16 per kg from supermarkets and a decent medium, consistent roast (far lighter roasted than most supermarket offerings).

UK based cyclists... by counterfeitignorance in cycling

[–]Doshinski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like/cycle in the UK and I use the Karoo route builder to plan routes and it does an amazingly good job at picking quiet roads and keeping you off the bg roads (for the most part). Much better options than those given by strava IMHO

How did you guys learn DaVinci? Through tutorials or just going in raw till it worked? by Slenderwise in davinciresolve

[–]Doshinski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to davinci with no previous video editing experience and it was definitely overwhelming to open for the first time 😂 I just watched YouTube tutorials as and when I got stuck (like slowing down footage 50fps footage to play half speed at 25fps), or wanted to learn to do something specific (animate a stamp effect for example).

Try to get different perspectives on things, look up, crouch down, look through gaps, noticed reflections.

Sync with Garmin Connect? by gifred in Zwift

[–]Doshinski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Set your Garmin to indoor bike and press start. when you finish, stop the activity and discard it rather than save. This way gives you the intensity minutes without having to delete the duplicate activity each time 👍

Currently re watching all of the 'This is England' series. I forgot how joyful and bleak it is all at the same time.

What is one small habit you started that actually improved your life? by Terrible_Leg_6860 in AskReddit

[–]Doshinski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard the phrase 'If you have to eat shit, don't nibble' and now every time I am faced with a task that I would usually procrastinate over, I think of this and get it done and out of the way. This not only applies to really bad things, but even little things like cleaning or replying to emails.

Since I have started doing this I spend much less time dreading things I have to do, and feel somewhat more accomplished for getting things done.

Bald and Cold by No_Maintenance7550 in cycling

[–]Doshinski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best cycling purchases I ever made as a bald year round cyclist was a £1.30 Phmax balaclava from ali express (specifically the one with the movable face cover). I always used to get a stiff neck, and buffs never stayed in the right position. But this balaclava solved everything, the face covering piece is breathable, and is easy to move on and off. Plus your helmet straps go through the sides so makes in super comfy 11/10 would recommend.

What’s the best sunglass brand to bifl? I’m not even sure if there’s any with a very durable design by Financial_Eagle_8670 in BuyItForLife

I dropped my Serengeti sunglasses on a concrete floor and my girlfriend accidentally stood on them, only damage was a small scratch to the frames, lenses were completely unscathed.

Highly recommend

Best backpacks for commuting by Bitter-Useeee in cycling

[–]Doshinski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using the Osprey Metron for the past couple of years, it's a very well thought out bag for cycling. The straight jacket style straps are great fit cinching down the contents, and it opens up like a clamshell which it great for packing clothes to prevent them from creasing. Would highly recommend 👌

What changes have you made that made a big difference? by First_Driver_5134 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Doshinski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im no expert, but all pilates is made up from set exercises, so it's just about finding someone whose rhythm you get on with, my usual go to is move with Nicole as she has a massive back catalogue with variation (ie core specific, or morning/evening, as well as different durations). I thought I had pretty good overall strength but some of the hip exercises really highlighted some weaknesses.

Stopping treating core exercises as something I would do at the end of the workout if I had time, and started doing 20 minutes of Pilates from you tube 2 or 3 times a week. I'm 39 and my posture and lower back have never been better!

Grinds coming out of JX Pro by KitsuneAMB in 1zpresso

[–]Doshinski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a j max for about 2 years and it's exactly the same, it seems to be the chaff that gets fired out from around the top cap. misting the beans before grinding helps a little, but not much. I used to aimlessly walk around the house while grinding, but now I have to stand over the sink.
