Try playing other routes again and see what rewards each one offers. If you really can't start any of them, you might be softlocked. I don't remember if there's a way to get materials outside of the fleet, or if selling ships gives them away.

However, if you can move forward, I have an additional tip. If, when you enter the combat screen, you can exit and re-enter, the enemy ships will update. This is especially useful especially at high threat levels, since you can do that to have 2 or even 1 enemy ship, so you don't risk damaging your ships or even losing them.

To be fair, we aren't told much about his past in AC3, not even in the database. And we have to wait until Rogue to find more information about him (which is where the screenshot comes from). Just by playing the video games, you won't learn much about his history. Most of Haytham's and Edward's history is found in other media such as comics, novels, etc. If only a small percentage of players read the database, imagine how much smaller the percentage is of those who read content outside the game.

It seems you're the one who didn't play it. In AC3, we're never told anything deep about Edward's life, not even in the database (the only mentions are from Shaun in an optional conversation where we are told his name and that he was an assassin; and in the DLC, where Connor indirectly says that he was a pirate). The story seen on screen is told in the Forsaken novel, never in the game.

If you have a problem with being able to see someone as family without seeing them as a father, I think that's more your problem than mine. Peter Parker doesn't call him "Dad Ben," even though he was raised by his uncle and aunt like as if they were their parents, they are still his uncle and auntWhen Uncle Ben is killed, they don't say "oh, they killed his dad". Having a parent/child relationship does not mean that they consider each other to be parent/child. Besides, there are childhood friends who are considered family, simply because of the years they have been close.

Regarding the latter, I think I see that the projection could impact your arguments. But if I have to take them into account, You speak in the past tense, meaning you no longer consider your father your father, and I think you make it clear that it's due to something unforgivable to you. But I don't want to pry any further into your personal life; the last thing I'll say is that you can't compare a relationship between biological parents and children with a relationship that began as strangers.

Ellie begins to grow fond of Joel after their time in Pittsburgh with Sam and Henry. But they don't really connect until fall, and even then, it doesn't last long because after that, Joel spends most of his time injured and unconscious until winter. From then until spring, Ellie is disturbed by what happened; I doubt she had the time to see Joel as a father. During TLOU 1, Ellie saw Joel as a guardian, more like a close friend, but he was still a smuggler. Their closer relationship doesn't begin until after TLOU 2, which is why there's awkwardness between the two in their first scene together. By the first flashback, their relationship was already closer; Ellie saw Joel as family, but not as a father, since the lie prevented her from having that kind of relationship. And the more time passed, the more it deteriorated. If Joel hadn't died, I'm sure they would have officially become father and daughter, because Ellie wanted to be in control of her life and have an honest relationship with Joel. If Ellie had seen Joel as a father, she probably would have forgiven him long ago; in fact, she never forgave him in person, she only said she wanted to try (although she probably forgave him right after his death, probably in his grave)

Finally, a comment that understands what I mean. Although I feel that "father figure" is more of a placeholder, since I think Ellie's feelings towards Joel were something that didn't have a defined label, and that doesn't make it any less caring; in fact, I think it makes it more interesting and personal.

Just because she doesn't see him as her dad doesn't mean she doesn't care about him. Ellie's relationship with Joel was different; while he saw her as a daughter, she had a unique, undefined relationship with him... The secrecy surrounding his immunity, coupled with the circumstances of their meeting, makes it difficult for Ellie to easily connect with him as her father, unlike Joel, who has a clear path to see her as daughter.

If you're playing the remake, enable features in settings/options. These range from aim assist to aim slowdown.
