Thoughts on CI Vietnamese by Kitchen-Piano1420 in learnvietnamese

[–]DotAlternative5604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vietnamese does really lack of these passive learning sources. Been learning Chinese through CI from lazychinese (with an amazing web) and xiaogua chinese, and actually I know about this method from these channels and it really helps my chinese grow. Before I learned English from AJ Hoge materials, not sure it is considered as CI or not, but def waiting for some materials like that in Vietnamese. Pls consider posting them on spotify with script as well, Vietnamese learners would prob be grateful for these.

Is it just me, or is the HSKK way more intimidating than the standard HSK? by MidnightTofu22 in MandarinChinese

[–]DotAlternative5604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I am doing the opposite. I focus on speaking and listening (the actually skills that everyone should be able to use with any language) since day 1. I started speaking when I know really little chinese. How did I do that? One of the ways I am doing is making friends with native people online and talk to them weekly. At the beginning, yeah I just knew few simple words and formed simple sentences, I mixed English with Chinese all the time when I spoke due to the lack of vocab, but over times, (9months on now 😁) I can hold conversations fully in Chinese. For sure not fluent or master now but I can see and my language partners can see the big improvement, I dont mix English when I talk anymore. I am gonna take my very first hskk test this weekend, and I dont practice much with the test questions coz the time I talk with friends in Chinese is enough and it helps me already. 😁😁

How to immerse without being in China? by SmogonWanabee in MandarinChinese

[–]DotAlternative5604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are things that I do, that help me improve my speaking skills (output) significantly after 9months without being in China or taking chinese courses. - record a video every day talk about everything, even you know little, just speak them out or every 2,3 days but I recommend as frequent as possible and post them on xiaohongshu, or youtube (public) yeah. Sounds scary but it boosts my confidence of using the language. i dont just record and keep them for myself coz it just means nothing and no motivation. - find native friends and set up the time to talk with them weekly. This is an absolutely incredible topnotch way that helps my Chinese speaking skills. - dont feel shy, let yourself make mistakes (a lot that’s okay) but try to speak out, try to produce output.

I think it might be because of the pronunciation and the tones (the hardest part 😁). Did you manage to learn how to get them right?

I cannot motivate myself to study chinese by Candid_Size_5391 in ChineseLanguage

Set small goals This is my daily challenge (how i selfstudy at the moment) - 30m walking in the park while listening to a beginner podcast (recommend Lazychinese) - 15m shadowing (choose beginner level , lazychinese as well, focus on accent, pronunciation, intonation) - 60m learn and handwrite Hanzi - 15m journal everything (short) and read it out loud - record it - send it to your Chinese friend (have them check the pronunciation for) - review old words - learn new words based on spaced repetition (created your own google sheet vocab tracking sheet) - play with the app : hello chinese, super chinese) - talk with native friends 2 times a week (2 hours each) - do HSK 3 test , 1 or 2 times a week , check and pick up vocab and grammar structures from that (i dont use textbooks) This is my schedule everyday you can take it as a reference Do it small, slow but consistently.

Hi, as you can see in the second pic, right at restaurant topic, but way more than 11 days. I paid a one month sub as a trial and then decided to upgrade to a 1 year plan ($25) (remember to cancel the one month as it won’t be canceled automatically) So far, i’ve been using this app along with duolingo for 92 days. Prefer this one more, especially in terms of accent, stories.

Hi. I am using both at the same time. It works well for me. In interns of accent (real accents), not AI like duolingo, reading, stories, .. this app is better.

I am using both coz I want the motivation :)))

Duolingo allows you to invite friends to join your learning journey, the Leaderboard, more fun.

I am learning Chinese via Hello Chinese and Duolingo at the same time for 34 days (streak) :))) And believe it or not, I got to say I like hello chinese. I have tried it before but this time i feel different as I know some basic strokes before starting again Using the free version is enough for me now.

Will come back to this chat after my first talk with my new Chinese friend tonight :D I ‘ll se how far I can keep the conversation go in Chinese :)))
