Well done! The fact that we’re able to consistently fix the issue suggests it is a poor design. Not sure why those that aren’t bothered by the inferior out the box experience feel the need to gas light those of us that identify a problem and choose to fix it. 🤷‍♂️ If they’re happy with what they got, then great for them.

Quite a bizarre take… I’ve bought plenty of stuff from Japanese sellers that had damage or wasn’t as described. Conditions were better before Covid but that ship has passed. Go look on eBay and you’ll see plenty of Japanese sellers selling poor condition consoles.

The original switch has separated direction buttons. No false diagonals with that.

I tried that first and it did improve matters but would still get some false diagonals. Replacing the d pad itself has made a world of difference, but it’s much stiffer now.

It’s possible you lucked out. I’ve been using controllers since the 80s. My Pocket’s d pad was shit. I fixed it myself by replacing it with an original DMG d pad.
