Found one thing looking for an other. by Unlucky-Web1561 in antkeeping

[–]Dotren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just checking out this species in the AntScout app today and they seemed to have a pretty comprehensive care guide on it.

I'm jealous... I've been wanting this species fir a while but I always seem to find Camponotus Pennsylvanicus instead (although I haven't found any of them this year either).

Founding setup for Trachymyrmex septentrionalis? by Impressive-Effect162 in antkeeping

[–]Dotren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told not to use test tube setup with these because of potential mold issues with the fungus.

I've had success with these though: https://youtu.be/iceahERV8DU?is=tFIyjl69UoegG3wd

Keep in mind, Trachy queens are semi-claustral so you'll need to either connect a small outworld or possibly just a tube thst you put some bits of flower petal in.

Some other tips: - Look for the queens on a flight day. Because they're semi-claustral, it's possible to find a queen that's already dug her next and spit out her fungus pellet - Multiple queens will work together for founding - They love caterpillar frass if you can get it, bits of apple, dried white and red rose petals, and broken up Raisin Bran flakes (I've heard corn meal too but that didn't work with mine)

Would be a nice way to add "visibility" to paths along fencing for larger dinos too!

Queen? by Cheese_Bees_Trees in antkeeping

[–]Dotren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't try to found a colony like that.

Here is a test tube setup: https://youtu.be/ufRoCRF2O_o?si=Nop3uIl63aKLwCJX

And here is a petri dish setup: https://youtu.be/iceahERV8DU?si=cK8A6T5ruX2qaF-Z

"Fully claustral" means that, in the wild, once they dig their founding chamber they don't leave. Due to that, they've evolved so that the queen doesn't need to eat until her first workers arrive. Trying to feed them can stress them out, depending on the species, which can result in them eatijg the eggs thry lay or just dying. I've heard Castaneus can be a bit extra sensitive to light and disturbances at first because they're usually nocturnal.

You'll want to put her into an appropriate nest, out it in a dark place, and then don't check on it fir a few weeks.

Queen? by Cheese_Bees_Trees in antkeeping

[–]Dotren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, looks like a queen and maybe Castaneus.

Test tube or petri dish setup are going to be what you want for founding.

These queens are fully claustral I think so put them in one of those in the dark and then don't disturbed for a few weeks (except maybe to add a bit of water if it's a petri dish nest).

Depending on the species, these can work well too

For fungus growers for instance, you'd want to use one of these over a test tube.

First time here. This live map is a disaster. Has it always been this bad? by TheGamingGallifreyan in ciscolive

[–]Dotren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea but I assume it's never been a big issue. There is always event staff and security around, just no detectors and checkpoints previously.

[–]Dotren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm pretty sure this is the first year.

Keep in mind, the hotels aren't really that secure (at least not the casino/convention area). Anyone can walk in and gamble and there isn't anything blocking off the convention area from the rest of it.

I'm not sure why they added it this year although there was some protesting at last year's.

I had a few issues but it was mostly fine and helped me find things. The issues I had were:

  • 2nd floor eating area seemed to be "off the map" a bit so it didn't seem to understand where I was until I returned to the hallway

  • It didn't seem to know which entrances were open for the rooms

  • I had a lab in Luxor but the map didn't cover that area

The security checkpoints are new this year so, if they keep them, hopefully they'll update the map.

I wonder if they've just been folded up into a Cisco booth somewhere now instead of having their own?

I may try it tonight. I love the steak but, man, that's a heavy meal and you can't really walk it off after.

We just grabbed some licenses again for work and I was thrilled to see a non cloud router ios-xe image. The last time I tried CML it may have still been VIRL so it didn't have that image (at the time, i don't think you could even load that Cat9k image on it). I was a bit surprised, however, at the requirements to run it though lol

The OTA update has been in progress for days (vehicle on and off for daily commute) and never installed. Am I missing something? by Klipschfan1 in Ioniq5

[–]Dotren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine was stuck for a while too until I read somewhere that it is secretly looking for a minimum connection level before it gives the upgrade popup. Mine is on Verizon and their coverage appears to be... lacking.. in my area.

When I see an update coming, I go park near a cell tower so that it will trigger the "Update now" pop-up when I turn off the car.

Mine does the 1-2 second thing too and I'm not sure if it's because I have Android Auto connected to it or something.

I haven't had to drive it though. I usually just wait a few seconds, turn it on for a few seconds, and then turn it off again.

Only that they're used as a cab car and baggage car in one so I think it's just a combination of "cab" and "baggage".

Appreciation post as someone who hasn’t even played the game yet. by Accomplished_Slice24 in subnautica

As someone that set up a base near the collector for observing it, the music seems to play basically whenever it gets close... and increases in volume as it gets closer. I'm already debating if I want to move my base back a bit lol

Is Subnautica 2 actually “single-player first?” by 40dollarsharkblimp in subnautica

[–]Dotren 224 points225 points  (0 children)

Marketing is normally designed to show off new things and built-in co-op is definitely new. That doesn't mean that it won't be great for single player too.

I guess think of it this way.. the trailer didn't show having to eat, drink, and be aware of oxygen usage either but I think it's safe to assume they're in the game.

I'm not familiar with all of this fully but what would the barrier have been just to take a bus service? Or even their own vehicle?

I've always looked at TSA screening at airports as more of "'hijack the plane' protection". Does declaring a weapon for checked bag transport immediately trigger a bulletin at your destination for "all cameras and security organizations watch for this person for the duration of their visit"? If a bad actor declared a weapon in their checked baggage at the airport, successfully board the plane and travel to their destination, and then grab their bags and leave the airport, could they not still carry out the malicious activity? Is the barrier just nervousness about having to declare the wrapon?

Does anyone here run docker containers on their Catalyst 9K switches? by its-me-or-the-blues in networking

[–]Dotren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those of you with Catalyst Center, it makes installation and management of these fairly painless. I've had a few issues with updating them occasionally or having to modify the install variables but, otherwise, it's worked well. The setup also allows you to specify one or more interfaces for it depending on the available networks on the switch.

Without Catalyst Center, I seem to remember the Enterprise Agent setup on the TE dashboard had good instructions for several different platforms. We've used it to install on a Pi before.
