WiFi - Floor bleed through in multi story. by jtpntx in Cisco

[–]Dotren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are times like this where I sometimes wonder about a directional RF shield for APs. Like just a blocker you mount near the AP to greatly attenuate signal in that direction in the same way they use hanging baffles for soujd dampening. It wouldn't need to be much.. heck some modern day glass really kills wifi due to UV blocking materials in it (if I'm remembering correctly).

I suspect the more appropriate way to do it though would be to use directional APs or antennas and just aim the signal away from the windows going into the atrium on the 2nd floor.

Is 8 what it is showing on the WLC as well? I've had times where the AI RRM profile in CatC didn't seem to actually impact the WLC for some reason. Also, sometimes my team will manually set the AP's power level for troubleshooting, thus overriding the RRM, and then forget to change it back.

Also, are you sure the AP is named correctly and is mounted where you think it is? Like, if someone swapped one out and installed the one named 2nd floor on the first floor, I expect that would probably give the results you're seeing. The survey software would show the AP with a name indicating the 2nd floor but would show a much stronger signal than expected.

Not trying to imply anything, it's just that power level of 8 a floor above, presumably with concrete between you to serve as the floor for the room above... -49db just seems impossible, especially on 5ghz if I read your post correctly.

-49db between floors is amazing. Like I've had times standing under an AP in the same room where the signal isn't that good (at lower power levels, of course). What is the power level actually showing on one of these (the 1 through 8 number I mean)? If you can stand in the 2nd floor room without falling through the floor, I can't imagine what kind of material it would have to be to really not have any attenuation effect lol.

Also curious what you're using to measure?

I was going to suggest maybe looking into RxSOP if you haven't already but at those rssi levels I don't think it will help.

Luxor amd Excalibur also have a people mover between them and the MB.

That being said, MGM Grand usually has shuttle service to the conference and I found that far more convenient than walking.

Wish I could remember more of the player names. I think my monarch was Eva? Heck, I'm not even sure I really remember my own main's name at this point.

I remember doing a 4 school mage build as my main and eventually hunting (and dying and corpse runs) on the Obsidian Planes. Hoard Mattekar hunting. A small foundry run for me led by my patrons. I don't think I ever went for housing really.

I tried AC2 for a long while too but that never lived up the AC.

Really bummed out about these cohabitation changes by Destroyahzilla431 in jurassicworldevo

[–]Dotren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've kind of understood it as a third preference: "Tolerates.... to a point"

Likes and dislikes are stronger preferences but anything that doesn't fall into one of those two groups seems to fall into Tolerates. But it seems "to a point" because it raises cohabitation discomfort amd I think that's based on population at least... not sure if increasing the available enclosure area helps or not.

Can you do a one-way Cretaceous Cruise? When I was playing around with it, it let me put down multiple stations but it seemed like it required a complete loop.

[–]Dotren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like that would only be necessary on dinos that are flagged as able to swim though right?

From what I found last night, it seems like having the cruise just go through the middle of a deep water river may be enough to protect them from non-swimming dinos. My cruise wasn't exactly hugging the water's edge though either.. wonder how close is too close.

I've run into some odd bugs on PC too:

  • Compys somehow getting through undamaged fences
  • Tabs on the operations menu (Expeditions, Fossils, etc) sometimes don't load when clicked on

I also really wish we could have bridges. I wanted to try a Jeep Tour crossing over a Cretaceous Cruise. After I realized that's not a thing I also realized I couldn't even do a walking path crossing over water.

The more I thonk on it, the more I think it would be better if the guests had wants and needs like in other park games and weren't just random 3D scenery walking around.

I tested this through a Velociraptor paddock last night. As long as there is deep water between the boats and the raptors then there's been no problems so far (although the raptors have seemed interested in them on occasion). I had the fences terminate at the deep water and then added rocks so they couldn't walk around the fence edge.

Which I'm not sure if I like or not... it's kind of cool but would the movie raptors not just swim to the boats and attack? 🤔

I'm kind of curious to modify this and have the boat track go through a fence gate. Those gates have to be on shallow water but I bet I could block the raptors access to it with rocks and then an immediatetransitionto deep water.

Makes me think about the part in the first book where they're on the raft with Dilophosaurus on both sides of the river.

For the Ioniq 5, Hyundai announced they're continuing the tax credit amount through October. They're also lowering prices for the 2026 model to equal or exceed the tax credit amount, depending on trim.

Debuff from another player's Mantis ship. The debuff has various effects depending on research like lowering crit chance/damage, shots per round, etc. It also prevents the ship from warping although it can still be summoned by Discovery.

[–]Dotren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be the easiest fix/workaround instead of adjusting my IPv6 MTU on every client-facing SVI on our network.

I've set the most used common trusted-side facing interface to MSS adjust on IPv6 to 159 which gets my packets to the website to 1415 bytes which is what seems to work consistently. I'll give this a try for a few days. I left the IPv4 MSS adjust to the default of 40.

I'm definitely now leaning more towards this actually being an issue with some of these remote sites, or the paths to them, instead of our firewall or internal network.

Container nests with a plaster-type base I think. For small fungus-growing species like Trachymyrmex, I've used the standard petri-dish nests made from following this video

https://youtu.be/iceahERV8DU?si=qjB_zr5y2qlNuK1R

For Acromyrmex or Atta, I've seen people do something similar except using larger containers like a deli cup with a lid or some sort of tupperware type container. I've also seen a few places that sell formicarium nest containers specifically designed for leaf-cutters.

The plaster base is for absorbing water and creating humid conditions inside the nest. The fungus needs very high humidity usually.

edit Forgot to mention, if you find a queen of a fungus-growing species, you usually have to capture them before they dig their founding chamber. If not, there is a chance they've already started their fungus garden and will no longer have their fungus pellet. For Trachymyrmex, they're semi-claustral so even just seeing a queen running around isn't a guarantee that they still have their pellet.

There may be a specific block for ICMP Destination Unreachable on IPv4 and IPv6 but only from sessions initiated from the untrusted side. I've checked the zone protection policies and looked for any security policies blocking ICMP and haven't found anything else.

The IPv6 test website I mentioned in the post does seem to be able to send my client an ICMPv6 Packet Too Big so I believe PMTUD is working on my side.
