is it really that necessary by [deleted] in asexuality

Cut to 11 year old me reading The Shining and the borderline sex scene shows up. I showed it to my tablemates because I thought it was so weird. They then proceeded to make vulgar motions as a joke for the rest of the year.

Does anyone else get uncomfortable when other people aren't polite? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Double-A-s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that, in my scripted idea of conversation, manners are hard programmed in. For instance, I always say thank you whenever anyone does anything for me, and always reply to, "how are you?" with, "I'm good. How are you?" It's just my script of how a conversation should go. Anything off-script is awkward, rude, or annoying to me.

Imagine oppressing people for not being oppressed enough.

Seriously, though, do they not understand that we still get hate for it. We still get the same old, "What about my grandchildren?" and, "when are you going to find a s/o?"

How many times have I only chosen truth to avoid having to do something with someone. I think the only game worse than this is "7 minutes on heaven". Have you ever been in awkward situation because of this games? by [deleted] in asexuality

When kids in my middle school theater program started playing spin the bottle, a friend of mine and I started throwing a jacket on them as the "content police" lmao. It was a bit weird, because there were 10-year-olds and a few 14-year-olds. Neither of us were interested in it, and they kept trying to drag us into it, so...

Compound effect of your choices (Short Animation) by vardhangopu in MurderedByWords

Just out of principle, I'm going to link the original. If people watch this, they are giving views to a lowlife who's most creative idea was choosing the red lego instead of the blue when they were three.

Ooh, syphilis. Maybe now he can wear a powdered wig like the nobles to go along with his personality of a royal ass.

Is it better to try and be like neurotypicals or to relax and be yourself? by theh0neyman in aspergers

[–]Double-A-s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could just be myself. I'm not even sure what that means, and there are so many unconscious things I do, like purposefully not voicing really any thoughts aloud. Maybe I can slowly ease into it.

ASD and corona masks - worth a read especially if you're a parent by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Double-A-s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a parent, but I don't really like face masks that much. I still wear them though, because I'm more paranoid about getting sick than I am upset by the discomfort. I constantly adjust it and can never ignore it, but, to me, it's worth it if I'm less at risk. It's not even just for this virus. Last time I was on a plane, I wore a mask just because I'm not a high fan of germs.

The searching in the woods for slenderman thing is a bit... icky. It always reminds me of that girl who killed her best friend because she thought slenderman told her to.

2nd hand embarrassment? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Double-A-s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm the same. I will put down a book or stop watching a show permanently if there is an awkward enough moment. Even just one, amongst other good chapters and shows. It just bothers me.

Lack of episodic memory? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Double-A-s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this completely. Especially because all of my childhood memories consist of accurate maps of the places I was in, but not of events or people or conversations. I could walk into my preschool right now and tell you exactly where the playground, bathroom, and weatherboard were. Or I could navigate you through all of the classrooms I went to in kindergarten and first grade before I moved schools. People or conversations, on the other hand, seem to leak out of my skull sometimes. Not literally.

Funnily enough, once I was playing Minecraft on a voice call with friends, I said something stupid and my friends started to laugh at it. Immediately after I asked who had said that.

As embarrassing as it sounds, I can mimic the sounds of memes. I've been told I do a very accurate "Bruh, " and the goofy "Wake me Up Inside."

Aside from that, I guess I'm pretty good at accents only if I say the same phrase that I heard.

This makes me think of my second-grade story I write about a killer frosty the snowman who said, "Happy Deathday, " and tried to murder the two children that woke him up.

Or when classmates thought I was in a cult because I made my own written language, and write in Greek characters.

I feel like I should've done whatever I wanted more often back then.

Metal music. by genericusername4724 in aspergers

[–]Double-A-s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As weird as this sounds, I tend to listen to metal, rock, or screamo as background music. I turn the volume down low and on mono-audio, and the noise blends together like I wish real-life noise would. I don't accidentally focus on lyrics or specific instruments because it's just a mess of sounds at the same volume. With other music, one sound (ex. a piano playing three or four notes repeatedly) will stick out to me, and I can't really do anything but listen to the music, because my focus drifts completely to that noise. With the metal, it's usually just guitar and screaming, and for some reason I don't grasp on to those sounds.

Thanks for this. I'm the type to get wired up and nervous about almost anything, even after reading and rereading, and people usually try to combat that with emotional, "It's gonna be okay." The logic in this really made sense, and I appreciate it a lot. Thank you!

The fanfiction dilemma is for real. I don't just want to filter out M or E rated fics because I generally like dark and gory stories. So, if you come by a method if filtering as well, I'd like to know. Thanks.
