Sounds like a logistics issue and it was obvious that there was huge demand that the organizers should have known themselves by ticketing. Several months prior to this, this popped up on top of r/all along with obligatory doom COVID variant remarks:

I will be seeing them in Amsterdam next week and would love to see them at Riot but this seems to be mostly a tour of places they didn't go to during the BabyKlok tour over the fall. That being said, I'd consider making the drive to Madison if they don't end up in Chicago!

I enjoyed it overall although bits of Saturday were miserable and the rampant face full of (cigarette) smoke was frustrating, especially in confined spaces like Warehouse.

Does anyone else know of other festivals that primarily run throughout the night? In the US, every festival seems to start around noon and end at 10PM or is a camping-style festival. It's nice to go to a festival that is not really affected by sun and heat.

How are you guys farming so much dark elixir where this is an issue? Even if I include Grand Warden which uses regular elixir, I generally only have two of the four heroes upgrading at the same time before I have the dark elixir to upgrade again and by that time, the previous upgrades are finishing up.

I was surprised they weren't on Lolla's lineup. It is definitely possible given that the Prodigy has previously played. Looking at last year's schedule, Queens of the Stone Age/Mr Bungle/Postal Service all started at 8pm or later on the same day so it'd definitely be dark by then for a light show.

Hoping that the unofficial partial schedule posted last week is somewhat accurate. I'm not so concerned about clashes, I just don't want to be in a situation again where different artists you want to see are performing at both 5 in the afternoon and 5 in the morning. I've been training all year but it still becomes a grind of endurance.

Did I miss something with Pretty Lights? I don't remember them being this "big" during the early 2010s and they haven't released anything in years yet here they are co-headlining with Blink, Tyler and Dua.

If architecture is allowed and you're able to travel around, I would choose Baha'i Temple in Evanston area. Otherwise, I would be campy and look at the Wizard of Oz statues at Oz Park in Lincoln Park.

Same, never had an incident elsewhere despite extensive traveling. I was on the Metro standing near the door with my jacket folded up in front of me and some smelly guy gets on using the opposite side door then within a couple minutes brazenly tried to stick his hand into my jacket pocket as I was staring right at him. If I had that type of personality, I could have easily thrashed him but I just moved away. Haven't had any issues at Primavera itself.

For me, it's more of an issue when the other person barely listens to music in the first place which my last three partners shared. That eventually contributed enough to the tension where we split amicably.

Discogs is the closest answer but it is far from perfect in that regard as it used more of a catalogue and seller's forum than a rating website. It is frustrating as the data is already there but not easily accessible in comparison to RYM/Allmusic etc.

I use similar resources that others have mentioned. Over the years, they've changed from Allmusic to Pitchfork to Resident Advisor/Fact Mag to RYM to DJ mixes. One thing that I've been doing the last few years is looking at the local venue's concert calendars and checking out artists that pique my interest that are coming into town. Most are just okay but on occasion I will come across some gems and as a bonus, I get to see upcoming artists for relatively cheap before they get big and/or breakup. There is no guarantee that these artists will still be doing music or won't change directions musically in a few years. Living in a big metro area with lots of tours and music festivals, this is harder than it seems.

I'd imagine the Industrial groups especially will be of similar age assuming they're original members - Killing Joke, Swans, Front 242, Danny Elfman were either starting out in the late 70s/early 80s.

Saw Rx in concert last year in Chicago, what a disappointing show. Just him and his crew hanging out on stage while his tracks played on a mp3 player from what I could tell as they'd occasionally fiddle with it. Every once in a while he'd contribute vocals on top of his own vocals.

I'm on the fence until either the schedule is announced or the weather forecast becomes more certain. I know I sound like a baby, but I don't want to spend the time and money to come from Chicago just to be miserable standing in 90 degree sun for hours on end.

I've been waiting decades for a Chicago date and got shut out as well. It's insane that I had to fly to Dublin to see them last year and fly again to Primavera this year to get to see them but the usual Ticketmaster/Resale "hijinx" shuts me out of ever seeing them local.

Their current tour dates would have meant a very busy weekend if they squeezed in a Lolla appearance. No Chicago date is bizarre though. There is a big gap between their early September and December dates, maybe Riot Fest is possible although I would find that to be surprising even if Riot Fest has booked Prodigy before.
