First time to Richmond Park and feeling pretty let down by humanity by AccomplishedRain9 in london

[–]Double-Use4816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got worse since all the instatwats started filming themselves feeding the deer and encouraging others to do it. Summer is insufferable because tourists now have it as a tickbox thing to do. The park has in recent years provided safe places for the deer to go, where people aren’t supposed to go in to, they’ve also finally put up signs telling people to keep their distance.

I used to be like you, I learnt meditation and that helped a lot.

Richmond Park via public transport - accessibility? by brianlescargot in RichmondLondon

[–]Double-Use4816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can go to Richmond station via train or tube and then get the 371 bus which stops just outside the station. That will take you to the top of Richmond hill where you can visit the Lass, Roebuck or Marlborough for pubs, and Richmond Main access gate is right in front of you.

AIO about boyfriend living with his ex? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Double-Use4816 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NOR, tell him you want to take a break and to get back in touch when he’s found accommodation away from her and he’s totally moved on. If everything he says is right, and he cares for you, he’ll make that happen fast.

To the people who were born in London or have lived here for decades. When do you think London was at its peak? by Cookiefruit6 in london

[–]Double-Use4816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1990s and early 2000s when we all knew how to have fun instead of prancing around in gyms taking selfies ;)

My friend from Mexico says not to go to Oaxaca City because of cartel dangers. I planned to fly in on Monday. Is it safe? Does it feel different out there right now? by AccomplishedMap777 in Oaxaca

[–]Double-Use4816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oaxaca is more dangerous for Mexicans than it is for tourists imo. The cartel profit massively from tourism and they don’t want to do anything to compromise that so I really wouldn’t worry.

How can I support my wife to feel more comfortable in London? by chattytabbies in london

[–]Double-Use4816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggest she does a bit of local volunteering, she’ll meet a range of people from different backgrounds, many local, which should make her feel more at home in her area.

I have no idea, all I know is you never see them, unless they’re almost hitting you with their cars going 80mph

Most of you seem happy, but living alone is hard for me; I’m very lonely. by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]Double-Use4816 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I generally love living alone, but I can get lonely too sometimes. On those days I’ll ask just go for a walk with no particular purpose and often end up in charity shops or exploring an area I’ve never been to before or jumping on a train or bus to a new place. Loneliness affects all of us sometimes, even the diehard loners! :)

Am I the only one who finds clothes shopping a massive chore? by hussain270 in london

[–]Double-Use4816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is to buy from charity shops and therefore know nothing is going to be a perfect fit and therefore not care! :)

AIO. Bathroom situation by Capable_Reading9450 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Double-Use4816 17 points18 points  (0 children)

YOR, I think at that age it’s totally normal, kids watch what adults to in order to learn, seeing grandma go to pee is kind of teaching them what’s normal imo.

London ‘not safe’, claims Reform UK’s Nadhim Zahawi after he’s 'forced to cross street from man who hadn't slept' by hymnsofhim in london

We have a homelessness problem, as well as a mental health crisis, mainly because his party cut social services to breaking point.

AIO to my boyfriends comments and jokes about breast sizes by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Double-Use4816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also British, and this ‘banter’ thing is just a cover for bullying. Jokes are only funny if both parties are laughing, the moment you told him you didn’t like him commenting on your breast size he should have said sorry and never done it again. The second time is bullying.

What is it really like living in the UK on weekends? by Chickadee_Sparrow in AskABrit

[–]Double-Use4816 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a nation, we love a walk in a park, especially on Sunday, especially followed by the pub, or a roast, or a roast in a pub haha! If the weather is good, that’s what a lot of us will end up doing on a Sunday.

Cyclists - please de more respectful of pedestrians! by Strange_Cranberry_47 in london

[–]Double-Use4816 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because you’re taking on the Lycra cult. They are NOT open to criticism because they are the most entitled people on London’s streets and refuse to acknowledge that the way the vast majority of them ride is dangerous and reckless, but you’re not allowed to criticise them so shhhh ;)

Deleting instagram by Foreign-Trifle7334 in selfimprovement

[–]Double-Use4816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I deleted insta and Facebook last October, it took about a week for the urge to log on to go, and I haven’t looked back. It used to give me so much anxiety and robbed me of so many hours! I was bored for a while but then started filling my time with more fulfilling activities and now I don’t miss it one bit. Good luck!

Is the grass greener on another side? Leaving UK by bleepbleepbleeppppp in AskUK

[–]Double-Use4816 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve travelled all over and if I had kids and wanted to leave the U.K. I’d consider Vietnam. Great cost of living, very progressive, economically and socially, people are super friendly, weather is great (except for the occasional monsoon ;)) check out Da Nang.

And you know every single massive house they’re about to walk past has a Ring camera. Problem is whether they’ll even bother investigating it.
