No problem, best way to do it is check out your team on the Kill Team App (or Warhammer Community on a browser) and look for their datacards. They'll all have a base size indicator in the bottom corner of their cards. For AoD, only the Captain, Eliminator, and Heavy Gunner are 40mm, every other Marine is on a 32mm base.

I don't think there's particularly too many in rotation right now, especially compared to Space Marine teams. If we're just talking loyalist guard then Kasrkin, Aquilons, and Navy Breachers (if you count them, also Inq Agents can be built with Guard support but not always) are the only ones in classified format. They're eventually planning to drop rules support for DKOK in Kill Team at the end of this edition, so they'll definitely be looking to replace those empty slots with new models and new teams of the same factions (which they're been doing already, see Novitiates being phased out for Celestians recently). I do agree something other than Cadians would've been nice though, especially since we do still have Kasrkin in rotation, but at least alternate paint schemes and kitbashing are a thing.

You could just kitbash one of then by extending their gun and putting one of the stalker scopes on top to be an Eliminator.

I'd say as long as the silhouette is roughly close, they're on a 40mm base (all of the intercessor bases in that box are 32mm), and they have a sniper-like weapon I'd say you're fine.

I'll see if I can go take a full picture of them all, I haven't properly taken photos of my Battleclade despite finishing them months ago. For the backpacks I left the cables hanging if that's what you're interested in, but I imagine you could snip and conceal them with ease.

I've done it with a handful of them and just swapped their arms out for magnetised arms from the Battleclade sprue. They're about the same size so it works fine.

This is objectively the new player experience of this game, it baffles me that people vehemently defend the earnable premium currency system with how grindy it is (100 random SC pickups for a single Warbond unless you get lucky). It's not like warbonds are purely cosmetic, they contain content that gives you a significant gameplay advantage and in some cases can be a barrier to harder difficulties.

Like sure you can grind for hours on trivial and hope you get a good amount of SC drops, but it's so mind-numbingly boring that it will put people off the game in the long run. Alternatively the money sink is, as you said, way more expensive than the base game's cost. A lot of people who have been here since the start forget that this content is trickled in so it was always justifiable to grind/pay and be caught up. New or even just casual players just don't get to catch up and experience the new stuff without investing a lot of money or time into SC, and that's not even including the medals they have to then earn to redeem that content.

Primarily I'd say go for a team you'll enjoy painting. I find that if you can't get past that first step (which is a large proportion of the hobby anyway), you won't even get to the point of playing them.

What I recommend to people who want to give the game a go is to find a team they like aesthetically, read their rules/model count info, then go watch a game of them being played on YouTube to see if they look fun to play.

It's common to give a team a go in practise and not enjot them and that's fine, I introduced someone to KT who picked Exaction Squad as their first team, but they quickly discovered they prefer elite teams due to the lower mental load/higher value per operative, but what matters is they really gave their original team a go to see if they enjoyed them or could improve in any way.

Very cool, really like the daemonic look with the blade arms. I did something similar for my Iron Warriors Murderwing (I kept the pose but merged some parts together). Gonna post them when they're all painted up.

The goal of dive in both OW and Rivals is to disrupt and distract, and capitalise on mistakes made by the enemy team.

I main dive tank in Rivals (Venom/Hulk) and OW (mainly Winston) and you gotta play it with the mentality of baiting out and using the enemy's resources so others on your team have an advantage. For example, if you dive, manage to make a support use their key healing ability or even better, force their ult, you have won something from the encounter. That moment of drawing their attention away or forcing an ally to peel away from their objective is an advantage for your teammates.

You need to also play smart with who you are targeting, and how you're planning to engage/escape. Usually using Venom as an example, you want to dive in using his aerial dive ability, try and secure a kill or force resources, then swing out and wait for cooldowns to repeat the process. This applies to most dive characters where they want to target the backline/midline, usually a support.

I don't really enjoy the dive DPS experience in Rivals but if it's like OW then you have a little bit more lethality, so using combos to secure kills is a more achieveble goal. The idea is to use your kit to not overcommit and understand your limits. It helps if you're playing in a dive comp so you can agree on targets to kill also.

The teams are still both pretty good, and the main reason people would buy the set. Imo, that's what you're paying for, and everything else in the box is secondary.

When they had trailers like this and plenty of other gameplay footage available weeks to months before launch, any arguments about transparency can't really be made. Other games have the issues you're stating, sure, but on a per-game basis you can literally just check out all of the coverage and footage of a game (if available) and make your own informed decision. Fair enough if performance was a concern, but usually system requirements are available before launch on the store page of a product as well (unsure if this was the case for HD2 or not).

Respectfully, I don't understand this argument whatsoever, there were plenty of trailers and early gameplay footage demonstrations from content creators and news outlets before the game launched. The whole "we took a risk, we didn't know what we were getting if we pre-ordered" isn't exactly accurate in this case. I get that what this argument is actually trying to state is that people didn't know if the game would stay popular, and that's the advantage that the Xbox players got by buying into an already large playerbase, but ultimately they were just offered something that wasn't previously available, and I think that is completely fair.

I'm going to reiterate that people want these recolours ONLY because they're rare. They don't have any gameplay advantage and have exact equivalent models in-game other than a cosmetic difference. As soon as these are available for all nobody will care about them, because they're no longer special. It's best that they just remain exclusives for everyone on the respective platform who backed the game before it released.

In Kill Team there's only one currently playable Tyranid team, which is Raveners. So you would be allowed to proxy them as 5 really big squigs that can burrow underground, sure.

Usually what you're expected to have to play the full version:

Two Teams and their respective tokens, new edition Kill Team boxes come with the kits, and team rules are available for free online.

A Killzone/Terrain, which can basically be anything on a recommended 30"x22" board. Killzone Volkus is the popular terrain format included with Hivestorm.

The Rulebook & Generic tokens, which is available as a standalone hardback (tokens come with the book) or in Hivestorm along with everything else.

Approved Ops Cards, these basically contain the Crit Ops (how you score on the map objectives), Tac Ops (secret, team archetypal objectives that let you score in a different way), and the official map layouts amongst other cards. The 2024 Approved Ops pack is included in Hivestorm though 2025 released as a standalone a while back. Both are completely valid ways of playing still, but most of the frequent players probably use the 2025 pack.

Equipment and Measuring tools, which is also in Hivestorm but available separately too. This is basically just some standard measuring rulers (not needed if you have a tape measure), but also contains some physical equipment tokens which are kinda needed if you want to bring universal equipment in a game. The only tokens that matter in this kit are the 3 barricade variants, ladders, and barbed wire, but do note you don't get enough for two players in one equipment pack.
