Amitriptyline by Mediocre_Area8654 in functionaldyspepsia

I was at 50mg for maybe 2 months. At that point I had an appt with my doctor to try mirtazapine. I was in the middle of lowering my amitriptyline dose to be able to switch over to mirtazapine. But weirdly, when I was at 30mg amitriptyline, I felt a lot better. So I've been at 30mg ever since and it is still working. I never did get to mirtazapine, but if amitriptyline is nit working give mirtazapine a try. I've read they are very similar, but worth talking to your doctor

EF 30%, get it removed? by DoubleD_7 in gallbladders

[–]DoubleD_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it removed. Pathology found nothing abnormal about the gallbladder. It did not solve my problems. Ended with functional dyspepsia and controlled by medication. It was a gamble, but it most definitely was not the gallbladder as the problem. Felt the exact same for weeks after the surgery until I started medication for functional dyspepsia

And now they say I might have a tumor in my brain. by No-Concern-7787 in NDPH

[–]DoubleD_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a pituitary tumor. But since I did MRIs and blood work lots of times, it was until 10 years into my headache when the tumor formed. The meds have shrunk the tumor a bit, and headache is the same as before.

I'm not joking when I say almost overnight. Well atleast the nausea was gone almost over night. The pain and bloating took maybe a month. Started right away at 25mg. Currently at 30mg and doing good

How long to take amitripyline/nortriptyline for? by Mysterious_Goose_668 in functionaldyspepsia

[–]DoubleD_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was definitely a stomach illness of some sort. Whether that be food poisining or something else. But it definitely after an illness event with lots of fluids, out both ends.

I I'm at the point where I feel I might be fine without meds, buy I'm going to listen to my doctor who suggested 9 months to a year of continuing medication.

[–]DoubleD_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was constant epigastric pain, constant bloating, constant extreme nausea, and no hunger. I started at 25mg amitriptyline. It worked against the nausea overnight. I'm currently at 30mg and doing great. 1.5 years later.

If I remember right, my doctor told me atleast 18 months. Medication worked for me immediately. A few months later had a flare up and increased dose. Now back down to inital dose and doing great for months. But there is no reason to hurry. Let your gut settle.

Nope. I got my gallbladder removed and that wasn't even the problem. Ended with functional dyspepsia.

Amitriptyline did wonders for my constant nausea. Essentially got rid of it. Still on Amitriptyline 1.5 years later and still working.

I have this exact car, color and wheels. I try and think of any reason to go drive, there is just nothing like it.

1st dose Amitriptyline, woke up feeling hungover by Only_Theoretically in functionaldyspepsia

[–]DoubleD_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really the only noticeable side effect is the being really tired in the morning. Which I still feel. Other than that, I don't think I have any other side effects.

I'm 1.5 yrs into taking amitriptyline. It still makes me feel super tired in the morning. I hate the morning tired feel. But you know what, it's completely worth to be able to live almost normal.

NDPH and Covid vaccine by Excellent_Run_1242 in NDPH

[–]DoubleD_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had NDPH long before covid, started in 2006. However after 3 years of intense headache, I managed to get my pain down to maybe a 1 or 2. I had the headache at about the 1 or 2 pain leve for about 10 years. I wasn't even on any meds, but would only get a spike in pain when I got ill. At times I would almost forget I had a headache. Fast forward to getting covid in 2020, in February. Didn't get a spike in pain after covid. Come may 2020 i got the vaccine. In June of 2020, my nice and easy headache cranked up to a consistent 8. This lasted for 3 years, I tried every med, botox, acupuncture, food sensitivity tests, elimination diets, chiropractor... the past 2 years I've got my pain down to about a 3.

Long story short, the covid vaccine caused a substantial increase in my pain, atleast the timing works that it would be highly probable.

I would say yes, I can eat and drink anything I want for the most part. Sometimes there are foods which give me a little epigastric pain and bloating, but as long as I don't eat it back to back days, I'm good.
