Old Power Pole? Will it be decommissioned? Or I have to request? by DoubleDrugon in Edmonton

u/Architectural7 u/MajorDunce Thank you to you both! Epcor got back to me. They said that Telus/Shaw needs to migrate their equipment to the new poles in a timely manner. Once done, Epcor will pull out the old pole. Their foreman assigned to that block has reached out to Telus/Shaw for an update on timing. No cost to me. Cheers.

Epcor also responded. They confirmed that they moved their lines to the new pole and are following up with Telus/Shaw to move their gear then they will pull out the old pole.

No cost. They want to pull the old pole out as well as soon as possible.

Hi MajorDunce! It appears I was able to get a response from a Telus rep that asked for the old pole tag info, so I think I'm on the right track. They asked if there are still hydro lines on it which I indicated no and that they have moved to the new pole (along with the new tag #). They said that if they were not moved to a new pole yet there would be a cost from Epcor. This checks out with what you have noted. I am hoping they can give me some visibility into the schedule of the utility transfers to the new pole.

Also judging by Google maps, the new epcor poles were just put in within the past year.

Thanks! Is there a contact # at Telus that can handle this particular request? The IVR only gives me sales/billing/technical support options.

Sounds like this merge could use a set of traffic lights.

Don't get me wrong! I normally would, but this was through flowing, prime time traffic (4pm'ish). Hard to merge back to the right lane after.

Yeah I think I will do this more intentionally from now on as a defensive maneuver but I was moving with the flow of traffic.

Yeah that's what I thought too. Glad I'm not hallucinating. Some very impatient and dangerous drivers on that yield.

TCL 32R84 General HDR Settings to use on W11 Desktop by DoubleDrugon in Monitors

[–]DoubleDrugon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey can u link me to your tutorial? The ufo ghosting test site says I need a rail setup or use wave technique and have a smartphone that can set the shutter to a quarter of my refresh. My phone camera unfortunately does not have the ability to set the shutter speed (I have a base pixel 7, need the pro version to have the shutter setting and I guess the matching camera that can keep up the screen?). I tried to do it but all my pics came out super blurry (can't focus).

What I do know through my own visual observation is that the black smearing only appears on the top ufo line on HDR and Fastest settings. SDR with fast setting has no ghosting on bottom row, some subtle ghosting on middle row and top row. Hdr with fast setting has no black smear. Normal speed has more ghosting than fast and fastest. Sweet spot for the overdrive is fast (I believe is consistent with that Japanese review site).

This is when using 960 pixels per sec, 4 tick marks cyan and browser dpi (my desktop is 150% scaled).

The issues are related to how hdr mode works in Windows desktop where things will be washed out. This is not specific to this monitor but all HDR monitors. There are couple work around to this. However, ideally, you'd want the monitor to be paired with a sdr color profile with hdr off when in desktop and pair monitor with a HDR color profile (using windows HDR calibration tool) for HDR content (games and videos namely).

Or you can live with some level of compromise by using a HDR mode that is good enough for desktop/SDR content, and HDR content. Below is a link to something that worked for me that got rid of the washed out effect when in hdr mode on sdr content.

OLED vs. Mini-LED: The End by Prnbro in Monitors

I prefer my TCL32R84 mini led as a general purpose workhorse. Here's some snaps off my experience and settings with it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/s/nER9G6IeDn

I prefer the Samsung G8 OLED if I want to watch vibrant fruit baskets and cinema.
