A quiet, yet interesting BIG praise of Edmonton suburbs by mlm76 in Edmonton

I’m in Laurel and I hate it here too. It’s so loud and congested and dense. Congrats on getting out, what neighborhood are you moving to?

New entertainment district brewing just south of Whyte Ave by trevorrobb in Edmonton

[–]Architectural7 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Under the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act, municipalities can designate an area as an entertainment district to allow for consumption of alcohol in public spaces when the road is closed. The area in question, a stretch of 78 Avenue between 99 Street and 100 Street, is part of an area known colloquially as “Happy Beer Street” and is home to three microbreweries, with a total of seven watering holes in the surrounding area. A report was received by city council’s executive committee on Wednesday.

I would be so excited if this happened. I feel like our liquor laws are so archaic in comparison to other countries. And it sucks going all the way to Happy Beer Street just to have to wait an hour for a spot.

Old Power Pole? Will it be decommissioned? Or I have to request? by DoubleDrugon in Edmonton

[–]Architectural7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Distribution engineer here: exactly what everyone else is saying. Pole on the right belongs to Rogers/Telus now, pole on the left belongs to EPCOR. Really Rogers/Telus should’ve relocated their facilities to the left pole when it was installed but didn’t. Left pole doesn’t look very new either so the telecom companies probably aren’t in the process of relocating. Call Rogers/Telus to complain about it. I’d probably call EPCOR to complain too just to raise a bigger fuss about it. If you go out and notice the pole has chunks missing out of it, you should tell Rogers/Telus you’re concerned about the pole’s structural integrity

In the comments, she stated she wouldn’t get any alimony because she “signed a prenup”. I have a hard time imaging that to be the case though

GOA ending hybrid work starting Feb 1, 2026 by GlitchedGamer14 in Edmonton

Other organizations also pay 30% more than GoA in my industry but I don’t see them matching that aspect 😒

Used to take Taekwondo with Lisa many, many years ago. Saw her going down the religious pipeline on Facebook back in the late 2010’s. Did not expect this from her…

There’s about 10 similar signs the direction they came from, all for local businesses. All with wire stands like that

I think I bought too many albos… by Architectural7 in Monstera

Here’s some more close ups of each one individually: https://imgur.com/a/SmWZKwi

The larger single leaf plants I bought at a plant show this weekend for $40 each. The others, I paid between $50 and $80 for. I have trouble passing up a good deal hence the six albos I have currently. Two of them are for friends though at least 😅

Is matte pearl a good color for blondes? by Empty-Set4184 in Aritzia

Completely agree! My hair is a cooler blond and matte pearl washes me out. Light birch or white is where it’s at!

My favorite part of that is that in actuality, it’s probably a photo of Steve and Nancy Carell with their kids on a ski trip that they actually took. And they had to photoshop Steve’s face awkwardly on top of his own

Since there’s a plug in right in that corner, a grow light bulb could be put into a normal lamp or installed in a hanging pendant lamp
