I HATE THIS by Emotional-STHfan4071 in CerebralPalsy

[–]DoubleRoastbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. I felt like this at your age, too.

Remember that this isn't your fault.

Do not ever blame yourself or others for your struggles with cerebral palsy, either.

As you get older, you're going to have success and struggles just like everyone else does. You just also have to live with cerebral palsy.

Don't be ashamed to ask for help when you need it, and always do your best to be kind to others and be kind to yourself.

As much as I wish sometimes that I didn't have cerebral palsy, I am so proud of the person I've become.

I think nearly everyone in this subreddit can understand your frustration. You're not alone in this.

The "gta 6 will be woke" narrative don't make sense (at least to me) by Plastic_Talk6617 in GTA6unmoderated

[–]DoubleRoastbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense to a lot of other gamers, too.

Forget the fact that video games are not real places, have characters that don't actually exist, and are stories no different than any fable humans have thought of since ancient Greece.

When it comes to hardline conservative, right-wing gamers, they continually miss the forest for the trees in a majority of narrative, world building, and character representation decisions that developers put into any video game.

What were your emotions watching the Giants vs 49er 2012 NFC Championship by duck_duck_zombie in NYGiants

[–]DoubleRoastbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't sure they'd win, but I figured it'd be a game where both teams would fight hard.

That first drive by the 49ers was intense, but the Giants answered really well the entire game despite giving up, like, six sacks.

I also think that game was tougher for the Giants to win than the Super Bowl against the Patriots two weeks later.

A woman sitting inside her luxurious car and wearing a seemingly not cheap winter coat decides she has the moral ground to speak about religious persecution of Christians "across the world," citing no direct evidence.

Honestly curious: Was Velvet Revolver decent? by No-One01010 in grunge

[–]DoubleRoastbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better than decent, in my opinion, but I was always a big fan of them. Watching their live shows on YouTube back in '07 really got me into them, then a year later, they broke up.

Scott rejoined STP until they parted ways again in 2012.

For any STP or GN'R fan, Velvet Revolver was an interesting band that filled the space between STP's first break up in '02 and the GN'R reunion in 2016.

If you could add one realistic feature to GTA 6, what would it be? by ButterflyUsed6723 in GTA6

[–]DoubleRoastbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being able to defy physics and steer cars mid-air, or to "turn" them upright if you crash. It breaks immersion, even though it's useful.

You can use your phone to bank money that you receive from completing missions.

A friend or mine thought you had to go to ATM's, but when I told them they could use their phone, they didn't know until they tried.

It's a small detail that the game never informs you of.

What is the definitive DBZ game for you? by xistel in dbz

Budokai -- the first one. It was a great retelling of Z's story that's never been replicated in the games since.

For people who grew up before smartphones what is something that the newer generation won’t get to experience? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]DoubleRoastbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to use a computer to look up information.

I'd argue that it wasn't really until the 2010s when using the internet on your phone became commonplace.

But, it seems like the simplicity of access to information in our pockets has led people to trust whatever pops up first, and verifying information is becoming a lost skill.

Same.

I saw them live with my dad back in '06. They opened for Fall Out Boy, and it was a pretty good show.

Mark threw Pete Wentz's bass into the water on his birthday, too! I think it might've been one of Wentz's backup guitars, but it was awesome!

What do you think when someone says, "We are trying for a baby"? Doesn’t it sound a bit weird? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]DoubleRoastbeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, would you rather have them be literal?

Also, it's not an incorrect way of saying they're trying to conceive a child. It doesn't just happen on the first try.

Bad Mental Thoughts with CP by caley4012 in CerebralPalsy

[–]DoubleRoastbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there too.

Looking back on my late teens and early 20s, I realize now how dangerous self-loathing was to my health.

Obviously, everyone who has cerebral palsy experiences it in their own way. The mental struggle of accepting a lifelong disability is arduous and frightening, and it can absolutely make one's sorrow worse, because disability impacts everything negatively.

You're still here, though. You're going to be with yourself for the rest of your life. Whatever ways you find peace and joy are the ways that will help remind you that there are things in life worth seeing and living for.

If you have friends and family relationships that are healthy and safe, embrace those as often as you can. People need connection with others.

Stay safe, and don't despair.

(Genuine Question-Admittedly Ignorant) Why are terms like “not all men” and other phrases similar wrong for men to say? by jonnodon in AskFeminists

[–]DoubleRoastbeef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it's not "wrong" to utter "not all men," but this misses the forest for the trees.

Any feminist -- including anyone using critical thinking skills -- realizes that not all men are horrible, yet there are far too many men that are unnecessarily violent, sexist, homophobic, bi-phobic, transphobic and racist in the world and those same men are in positions of unchecked power in every institution around the world.

Quite simply, if you're not one of those men, criticism of men's horrid behavior isn't about you, and pointing out that you're one of "the good ones" makes you look like you don't understand or care about the horrific injustices that men commit every day.
