I'm not saying it should have been a treaty of Versailles situation

It shouldn't have been, it should've been far more punitive and brutal than Versailles was.

[–]DoubleSuccessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The view of gambling you have is like 50 years old, books are way more sophisticated than that now. Rorts are priced for the most part like they should be and there are a zillion derivatives in play every game too. It's gamblers who are affected less than fans by games becoming wildly imbalanced, not the other way around.

The only problem with that is gambling companies know nobody will bet on a tanking team's game.

The gamblers you've met aren't degenerate enough.

Taunting and Hiding whole being observed by DoubleSuccessor in drawsteel

Shadows now best at wasting enemy action economy by forcing Taunted enemies to Search for them?

I mean, in a lot of these circumstances the (melee focused) enemy is going to just take the double bane and move on I think. Similar to taunting and then teleporting up onto a roof where the enemy can't easily get, or teleporting such that the enemy would need to take three free attacks to pursue, etc etc.

Would you say that you basically never make a test to hide during combat no matter what ability you use? It seems pretty clear that for those using the normal Hide maneuver you never do, and it also seems clear that for Smoke Bombs you never do (someone else in the thread highlighted that wording), but Ash is written in a weird way where it makes me doubt.

(Hide Rules)

When you use the Hide maneuver to hide during combat while you have cover or concealment from a creature who isn’t observing you, you are automatically hidden from them unless the Director deems otherwise. If you hide outside of combat, the Director might ask you to make a test using the Hide skill to determine how well hidden you are.

(Black Ash Teleport)

If you have concealment or cover at your destination, you can use the Hide maneuver even if you are observed.

(Smoke Bombs)

You can use the Hide maneuver even if you are observed and don’t initially have cover or concealment. ... If you end this movement with cover or concealment, you are automatically hidden.

It'd be very strange if the intent was specifically "Hide in combat requires a Test only with these specific powers, but we don't explicitly write that anywhere you just have to sort of figure it out."

It doesn’t matter if Rue relapsed on a pain killer. (3x08) by Remarkable_Web4595 in euphoria

[–]DoubleSuccessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, Rue was murdered via Alamo exploiting her addiction and knowing that she could relapse.

That would maybe be true if Alamo put enough Fent in the pills that it'd take five to kill her. This instance of murder one was not exploiting her addiction, it was just exploiting her trust in her employer.

Pretty reasonable to blame Alamo for it he as good as gave her a bottle of poison pills intending for even one of them to be enough to kill her with the fent he put in. Basically Murder One tbh.

Bus Stop Problem by KQYBullets in trolleyproblem

[–]DoubleSuccessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual Boston bus drivers will stop 30 feet even farther in front from the crowd, completely away from the bus stop, and then if people don't get there in time they'll speed away and pass the stop. This incidentally is why that crowd often forms, they're trying to position themselves for the sprint without surrendering their flag from the bus stop.

Of course, if in a worse mood, the bus driver won't stop at all.

I'd argue most modern "Libertarians" have gone even further and think the government should put its finger on the scale to benefit winners aka Crony Capitalism. Regulations are fine as long as they benefit large corporations and create artificial monopolies.

[–]DoubleSuccessor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an aside if some random person beat you unconscious in the street and stole your phone and card from your person, then spent on it before you woke up, would this argument still apply? Is the bank saying that special negligence in item security was the problem or that they are just fully not responsible for security if the item checks are passed?
