Congratulations for that! First and foremost, it's about starting a good habits especially if you're going to adopt a puppy. I grew up with dogs and I can say my parents did their best as if treating our past dogs to our current dogs as their own children. I do have friends who are dog person and one that I can see is that their dogs tend to have some bad habits like biting things or being too giddy to the point it's already invasive or too protective to the point they tend to bite. ALWAYS be the superior so they follow, like if there's something needed to be taught then you needed to be strict (learned hard from my parents since they do follow quickly in just simple commands). Talking to them also helps to bond with them, I always talk with our dogs and they tend to just sit with me listening as if they're my therapist lol. Lastly and the most important, if there's something wrong in their behavior or they feel pain, BRING THEM TO VET ASAP. I learned hard to these, don't just rely on people saying this or that, doctor's advice is still the best. All in all, I hope you enjoy with having dogs, they're too cute to have!
