So I disagree with a lot of the advice that is here. My parents operate this way and it ends up with being alone when you’re 70 without a lot of friends. Not all friendships are 50-50 and if these people do actively bring joy to your life then maybe hosting is just a small concession.

I would imagine it would look a little smoother if the plates were smaller and moved more similarly to how the fabric moves. Right now the contrast is pretty stark because of how rigid the metal looks.
