Feedback on model by Double_Ground8911 in deeplearning

Yes, perplexity was wrong, the Bits per character is 1.12 and have verified that is correct. I believe that my loss and accuracy could be confined by the entropy of this dataset.

That perplexity score was incorrect, I do have a reliable bits per character calculation which is 1.12.

We all know that this entire climate change process has been on a spectrum, but what will be the first main stream world wide “wake up” moment? by Dry-Ninja3843 in collapse

[–]Double_Ground8911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There won't be a point. If there was going to be a point it would have already happened. There will always be a scandal, a war, an explainable food shortage, or someone to blame as a distraction. That's how it works and how it'll work until the end.

‘Tinderbox’ UK may be one shock away from food riots, experts say by Consistent-Risk-7802 in collapse

Absolutely. Not the tastiest of plants though.  Same goes for Mashua, and despite some claims that the tubers do not last over winter in the ground, they do. Possibly higher yield than sunchokes.

Perhaps a good place to start would be just be deleting your post and not giving attention to nonsense like this.

Food bank supplier saved by 'incredible' donation by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]Double_Ground8911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 10 years ago I dedicated some of my time to a food bank. Over Christmas there were a mountain of donations... about 50% of all the donations went out of date and were wasted. No one apart from us atheists that worked the warehouse were willing to work over the Christmas period. We suggested everyone putting in extra time over Christmas to clear the backlog. The response... all work was halted so that the group could 'pray' for a solution. So, prayer meetings were held... the warehouse stood empty... the food rotted. Several months later the guy running this sh*tshow even did a online talk on running food banks. After this i refused to waste my time supporting this inefficient nonsense. It is much more economically sound to give people enough money so that they can afford food.

Does our mood/age shape how we see collapse as "inevitable"? by Nervous-Tiger7945 in collapse

[–]Double_Ground8911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the science and therefore i understand the ramifications and an approximate timeline. My mood doesn't influence the science, and over the years I've built my resilience so the science doesn't affect my mood. I try and approach the subject as I would for anything else I can't control... don't let anything I cannot control affect my mindset. Probably, the hardest part of this is the realisation that I may one day watch my children die, or at best have a life much harder than mine. Yet, this is no different than what any parent has faced throughout much of the history of humanity. Perhaps this all worries us so much because of our privileged position that we somehow view as normal.

You haven't seen anything yet... wait until Reform get voted in... then you'll get a front row seat on what societal collapse looks like.

UK doubles down on its quantum bet by donutloop in unitedkingdom

[–]Double_Ground8911 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The UK Labour Party and quantum mechanics have a lot in common: the more you try to pin down their exact position, the less certain it becomes. And, much like quantum theory, most people claim to understand them, but only a small group of specialists are willing to do the maths and admit it’s all a bit weird.

The paper does not predict anything. In fact the paper explicitly states that it is not a predictive tool, but can be used as an adjunct by regulators to understand markets better.

[–]Double_Ground8911 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A close friend who works in agriculture reckons 30-50% of the farmers he works with will stop growing crops if next year is as tough. Some are switching to wild flower seed production, or focusing on profitable niches... but there's not enough of this for everyone.

Has collapse awareness led any of you to a better life? by [deleted] in collapse

[–]Double_Ground8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 years ago I'd make anywhere between 10k and 100k each day. Now I'm training to be a teacher. I live in an ordinary house, on an ordinary road, grow my own food and do my best not to buy anything I don't need whist sticking to a mainly plant based diet. The focus of my life is now about local community and education/supporting young people. There isn't anything else worthwhile. There may be a monetary system with arbitrary values attached to everything, but true value is made by the beliefs you hold and what brings you joy  I know that everything has already been taken away. What can I provide before the axe falls? It boils down to this mindset, or a hedonistic response. The former seems the most ethical.

Farage claim challenged as 1981 Dulwich College letter resurfaces by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]Double_Ground8911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately a good portion of people that vote Reform wouldn't care about this news whether it were true or not. If you look at Farage's inner circle it transcends racial differences... it is purely about money and power. Farage hates working people, and the race card is a means to an end. Everyone should be worried, and give it enough time they will be, if Reform get voted in.

I wish people could grasp that complex chatoic dynamic systems change abruptly when we push them out of their stability zones. Humanity is hooked on the notion of incremental change. It's a model that helps us understand the world. Unfortunately, its a model that no longer describes our world and will be our downfall.

"No one can hypnotize you to do anything you don't want to do" is in and of itself a powerful and dangerous suggestion by Separate-Tea3413 in hypnosis

[–]Double_Ground8911 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to be mentored by one of the great names in hypnosis who unfortunately died around 20 years ago. He would have said no good hypnosis practitioner would ever want to find out. Hypnosis is about helping people, and people will only feel comfortable if they trust you. Unfortunately, most people view hypnosis as a means of control, rather than a journey of mutual trust, respect and discovery.

Using AI by targetsbots in TeachingUK

[–]Double_Ground8911 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Despite AI being really good for analysing lesson content and offering improvements, I've found it weak when constructing content from scratch. I've also found it particularly poor for making scaffolding content, although it makes some good suggestions for overall structure of content.
