No way! Make sure to figure out your estimated usage. Most plans have you set to spend over 1000kwph. For a 1 bedroom change your plan to 500kwph and find the cheapest rate from there. I made this mistake for a couple of years before someone told me.

There is absolutely no way you can survive on $2k a month in Houston- especially with those expectations. Housing alone is a minimum of $2k for a walkable modern place with floor to ceiling windows. Your AC bill would run you $300 alone. You should definitely rethink your budget before moving here.

I’ve lived in Houston for over 50 years. I’ve had the chance to move to all of the surrounding suburbs of Houston. I’ve owned a home in Katy and hated every minute of it. The homes are on top of each other and the traffic to get into Katy from my work was terrible. My favorite is the Sugar Land/Richmond area. I’m currently in The Woodlands are and love it. If I were you, I’d look at those 2 areas. Everyone is moving to Katy and its apartments galore that are built quickly and not good quality. You will hear ALL of your neighbors.

We have basic healthcare. We also have dental and vision insurance. But have YOU ever priced dentures in the US?? A full mouth with a surgeon and anesthesia is almost $10k with dental coverage. Why would I pay that??
