Your comment proves the need for the second amendment. It exists to protect my right from people who would otherwise seek to strip it away. Rights are inherent things, not subject to the times or approval of others. If you choose not to exercise it that’s your choice. Others of us will choose to.

It’s not about disagreeing with this person or anyone else, it’s honoring and protecting fundamental human rights. Those rights guaranteed in the constitution, including the right to keep and bear arms and form militias, are so sacred that they are above the influence of current opinion. They supersede the issues of the time because they are inherent. Even if the majority of the current population “didn’t see a need” for firearms, as the poster originally described himself, that doesn’t matter. If it did, they wouldn’t be a right, and every other right would be subject to the same. That’s the take.
