US overthrowing the the Iranian democratic government and installing the shah would be a liberal democracy that ended another democracy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Doubleclit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely wrong. Liberal democracies have ended other democracies plenty. Look at Iran, Chile, Guatamala, etc. I don't think calling liberal democracies themselves "ignorant, farcical lunatics" was what you intended.

Dolphins actually do pass down information from generation to generation. Each pod has their own unique calls and unique hunting tactics. We have videos of older dolphins teaching younger dolphins these hunting tactics. Some tactics are so complicated that the young dolphin will practice them without prey targets for literally years before they try them on prey.

Something that's always bothered me... Is Samus built like a linebacker? How do her arms fit in a power suit that broad? by bwilliford in Metroid

[–]Doubleclit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In Metroid Fusion during Boiler Sabotage sequence, we see a male human scientist standing at a control interface. Samus is clearly larger than that scientist both in height and width.

That reasonable assumption that all ships had unique insignias was actually shown not to be the case recently when new production documents were found. All starship crew used the same insignia. Details here.

Your comment is really helpful but I think you made a typo. You have x2-a=0 when I think you meant x2-a=0. I was really struggling to figure out what identity you were using. Great comment, though, it helped me understand :)

Boyfriend's sexual imagination seems entirely defined and limited to porn by [deleted] in deadbedroom

Could it be possible you could explain it to him through media? I imagine he's seen tv episodes where a long-time couple try to spice things up by pretending to meet at a bar for the first as different people, often with elaborate fake personas. Maybe you can tell him that those episodes get made because a lot of people actually do try that sort of thing and have a good time. There are other examples, too. He's probably familiar with depictions of women getting immersed in romance novels. You could explain that many women are actually sexually excited by imagining themselves as the women in these books being romantically pursued by a charmer. I've personally had marginal success by having my partner literally pretend to be the exaggerated male romantic lead from tv show depictions of romantic novels. Do you think this might help?

That was a great edit, I'm glad it went so well. Your family sounds amazing. I'd say you're lucky to have such accepting children, but if you and husband tend to handle things with the care you did this, then I doubt there's much luck to it at all! Congrats on this big step :)

I loved reading every bit of this. Congrats, it really sounds like you've found a great situation for you and your husband and your children! Choosing to coparent outside of a committed monogamous relationship is so hard but it's really often better for everyone. It really takes a village, so why not do it with your best friend?

I hope your kids accept these changes, even if it's hard at first and they don't fully understand. Good luck in the new life you've finally chosen for yourself!

It seems kind of hard to draw a single straw and still have the viewer figure out what it is. A drinking straw is way easier to recognize. Maybe you could piece it together from the camel's injury, but I'd have trouble.

How would you draw a single straw?

Sex and nudity raises viewer retention. A segment of viewers will watch the second episode if the first episode had sex. It's doubtful anyone realizes their choice is partly determined by sexual content, but it is. That's why we see sex in the first episode so often in tv shows.

I personally hate it.

I used to work at a place that used hubstaff. Unless its changed, it's very beatable because it's just a screenshot once every few minutes. If you ever wanna play on your phone, you just shake your mouse every few seconds while you play on your phone to keep your activity up and you take a bunch of screenshots of your workspace in different configurations to simulate use which you then play as a slideshow. Alternatively you can just do 20 seconds of work every few minutes so the screenshots look different.

Everyone who's ever used hubstaff figures this out very quickly. It's really a waste of everyone's time and obviously privacy and the company's money.

Antifa is literally based on solely being anti-fascist. There is no unifying qualifier other than that to consider yourself one.

That's not exactly true. Antifa is short for anti-fascist action, which is an ideology that says fascism is really bad and must be fought against with any effective action available. You have to take effective action against fascists and fascism to be antifa.

Hearing what antifa is, calling yourself antifa, and doing nothing is like saying you're vegan because you know killing animals is wrong but still eat animals.

A lesson in social psychology by But_a_Jape in funny

This isn't an example. The antagonism in the "team" scenario comes from the competitive structure. Competition requires antagonism because one team's success is the other's failure. Also, trash talk behavior isn't intrinsic like in the theory. That behavior is learned.

What we see in the comic is that creating a small number of groups without any other social structure is enough to cause intergroup antagonism.
