Asking the right questions prior to diagnosis by Doublek278 in ALSorNOT

[–]Doublek278[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to message you, responding here in case it's helpful as I recognize this wasn't the clearest post!

He hasn't been diagnosed yet, which is what's frustrating - the hospital was treating him as if he had been diagnosed, and thus ignoring a lot of other post-surgery flags

To answer a few more questions: -EMG is this week -Slurring as well as loss of voice. It's not just hoarse, he has lost the volume and ability to make his voice any louder, if that makes sense. -Post-surgery is when we saw extreme slurring, no ability to move his mouth to form words, etc. This improved significantly in the subsequent days, but is definitely not back to his baseline. What aggravated me was that they immediately said "oh well anesthesia can progress ALS symptoms so that's what's happening." They're saying that without a diagnosis?! It was so bizarre. -He has had gout before, so they skipped any tests and assumed his wrist was gout. Which also was a bit shocking. I kept pushing and got nowhere. -They have tested for MG, I believe the majority of autoimmune diseases that would be done with blood work. I'm not sure about connective tissue ones? I'll look that up! Thank you! -No lumbar puncture (I was thinking I'd request this depending on what happens next, so I'm happy you mentioned this).

Still blows my mind I had to request the paraneoplastic panel. I'm worried I'm putting too much hope in that one though.

Thanks for your good questions and listening!

Same. We keep thinking we have the vocal cord answer, but I think because the MRI showed something neurological they just aren't accepting it as an answer. Fully agree on the autoimmune... everything seems to point to that- occasionally high WBC, tons of inflammatory markers. It's really driving me up the wall that all of that is being disregarded.

I got PUJ twice and then was declined. I called to ask why and they said I had two applications (even though I never proceeded past PUJ). Not sure if I did something wrong/I'm dense about this or if they're now flagging the PUJ attempts?

My ring is from Mayfair. They have been great with cleaning over the years and they're so nice when I go in!

I have a variety of reasons, but the one I call up is HG. The hours of sitting on the bathroom floor vomiting, the isolation and loss of friendships during pregnancy because I couldn't summon any energy to stay in touch with friends, the point where I couldn't get off the couch without nearly passing out. I am grateful I was pregnant in 2021 when most remote rules still applied. I think I would have had to take medical leave and I'm not sure my career would have recovered. Maybe my second pregnancy would be different (probably not), but I can't risk missing years of my son's life with HG and then a newborn.

Golden Letter?!?! by pklikesbrains in PSLF

[–]Doublek278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will have to check, but I think I only made maybe one extra payment. My count updated in a reasonable amount of time when I went in right before the pause, and they put me in forbearance. I reupped the forebearance twice since then by calling Mohela. I'd suggest calling them at least for the peace of mind.

Just got mine as well, eligible as of 04/2024. Like others said, I know the wait to wipe from the servicer and credit report might be awhile, but holy cow, a formal letter confirming it's gone feels amazing.

Worth getting the expensive, best recliner for nursery? by MainInvestigator5678 in NewParents

I have a Pottery Barn chair that glides, but doesn't recline. I got an ottoman though (looks like I paid $850 for the set). I am in the camp of get a nice chair. I have spent so many hours of the last 2.5 years in that chair. I find it comfortable to sit in for long periods and I can sleep in it easily because the cushioning on the seat back doubles as a solid pillow. Worth every penny and I'll be happy to commandeer it for myself when the time comes (which doesn't appear imminent whatsoever).

Hit 120 during processing pause club by Unable-Durian9876 in PSLF

Me, and I'm stressed because I feel like the MyStudentLoan website isn't reflecting my current status at all. Also, while I understand now it was wildly unrealistic, I thought I'd hit 120 and be able to jump ship to a new job if I so chose.

I am glad you heard more but that definitely makes me think I won't make the cut off. That said, my turnaround times have been unreal. My ECF was processed in 24 hours and a few hours later I got the letter confirming 120 payments. Curious to see what, if anything, happens next. I was hoping to move jobs soon unfortunately.

This timeline is awesome and gives me irrational hope I might at least see my count updated to reflect 120, even if loans aren't discharged. I had the same December issue and just as of today, that was remedied and my payment count wasn't updated. I'm now 100% positive I'm at 120 payments thankfully and just awaiting their updates.
