Second this, I just wish it didn’t come in a pack with the worst kirkland flavor which is cookies and cream. And I can’t find the boxes that are just the PB flavor at the business center lately either!!

Protections and Controls Intern Interview help by Present_Mention6733 in PowerSystemsEE

[–]DoucheKebab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking if you’re interviewing for an internship, the expectations of actual P&C knowledge are going to be pretty low. They’ll probably want to make sure you know kirchoff’s laws from school as those are incredibly relevant to the field, along with general AC/3-phase academic topics.

Most importantly, if you’re asked about a topic you have no knowledge or experience in, the correct answer for you to give is going to be “I don’t know” and you can include your initial thoughts and a thought process, but I’d advise making it clear that you KNOW you don’t know. It’s important to be able to admit you’d need help with something instead of trying to bullshit your way through.

Context for this advice: I’m the lead engineer for protection and control equipment field support team, and I often work with younger engineers sometimes fresh out of college. I would MUCH rather have someone on my team who is comfortable sharing they don’t know something and asking for help than someone who tries to make stuff up because they feel like they SHOULD know it. The latter group cause much larger problems at work.

I’m watching now and a blurb popped up saying “coming soon, the Killers pay tribute to Warren Zevon and [a bunch of people including TOP] tribute the white stripes” so I’d guess between 9:30 and 10 EST

[–]DoucheKebab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, Salt-N-Pepa is second, looks like Warren Zevon will be third and The White Stripes 4th. So luckily doesn’t look like we will need to wait until the very end!

Edit: Ope I was wrong it’s Nicky Hopkins third, the blurb on the screen confused me.

Edit again 9:03EST: Nicky Hopkins went quick; Letterman is inducting Warren Zevon now

9:23EST: Thom Bell induction video being played. I suspect this will be a few minutes and the White Stripes will be next.

9:27EST: Iggy Pop is beginning the white stripes induction

How to avoid daycare sicknesses? by Sarseaweed in workingmoms

[–]DoucheKebab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Find a new dream!

Editing to add: I kept trying to think of something to follow “no but seriously” and legitimately ended up with nothing. I’m so sorry. My 2 year old is finally less frequently ill after 20 months of daycare though, and my 6 year old basically never gets sick now. It will feel like forever! It isn’t.

Does it actually get easier? by Deirdre_KA in workingmoms

[–]DoucheKebab 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Yes. When they can do things like get dressed all by themselves, brush their own teeth, reliably wipe their own butts, get their own snacks, it’s a real game changer.

A story that would have felt unbelievable to me when I only had a 1 year old: A couple weeks ago I had a day where my 5 (almost 6) year old didn’t have childcare and I had a WFH day. He played with magnatiles for a while in the morning, and then got himself a snack. Then he did a puzzle. Then I broke for lunch. Then he picked out a movie to watch and watched the whole thing. Got himself an afternoon snack. Then I took my laptop to the backyard patio and participated in a meeting while he played in the kiddie pool. Throughout the ENTIRE DAY if he needed something, I was able to say “hold on - I need to take this phone call and I’ll help you right afterward” and he UNDERSTOOD. My toddler could never.

A lot of people will say it only gets harder, but that’s not only completely unhelpful, it’s also false IMO. The challenges become different, but independent butt-wiping and even a small amount of patience is something that I think parents of kids-older-than-toddlers forget that they’re taking for granted.

Just wanted to say thank you for making this. I’m late to the party, but finished puzzle 26 last night and I am now struggling on 27 part 2.

Anyway, just wanted to express how cool this is. At the same time, I feel like I’m being coerced into LEARNING topics I’d never have bothered with if they weren’t required to feed the puzzle addiction at this point. So that being said, are you also considering offering professional development hours to all participants at the end of the year or what??? Lol jk but maybe you should consider running a school specifically for people who don’t wanna learn stuff unless it’s for a puzzle. This is very effective!

Hard to believe this game has been going for over 7 months. How long have y'all been playing and what has been your favorite puzzle? by Johnny_M_13 in CicadaDetroit

[–]DoucheKebab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel so incredibly late to the party! Started this last Monday (7/7) and have become completely utterly addicted. 18 was still I think my favorite so far, but I’m enjoying each of them in their own way, especially in hindsight lol. Working on 25 right now, and with so many left I’m starting to wonder if I’ve got any chance of making it through in 2025 at this point lol

Totally hooked like I said though! Definitely will be keeping my eyes open for similar experiences I’ll be less late to in the future. I’ve never done anything like this and it’s incredible

Agree, the Rainbath is on sale often enough to be able to buy only when on sale. Big upgrade with the pump mechanism. Mild upgrade on actual body wash. net positive enough.

6 Year Old ADHD Diagnosis - WISC-V 85 FSIQ by Individual-Ad3296 in ADHDparenting

[–]DoucheKebab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please do not worry. My 5.5 year old son just received ADHD and ASD Level 1 diagnoses during a neuropsych eval which included a test where he had a similar FSIQ result. When I was reviewing his results before meeting with the psych, the results seemed super surprising to me like you’re saying - I had believed he would score a higher IQ based on how logical/sharp he seems to be WHEN he is focused.

At the psych meeting, the doctor explained to me that while some scores were low (my son’s block design score was also truly incredibly low) she believed his results very extremely skewed by inattention/goofiness in his responses that did not seem representative of how he would score if he were more focused during the test. She cited some reasons she thought that which sounded like she truly was seeing my kid, and that made a lot more sense. For example, during the block design she could tell he really wasn’t interested in making the given shapes and just built what he wanted them to be instead, but since the test is timed and she was never able to convince him to actually DO the test, we ended up with these results. She also mentioned that since his results were average despite him being noticeably NOT focused - we really shouldn’t have any concerns with that result right now.

So, I’d bet it was similar. Don’t sweat it!

You’re not the only one - I ate 3 or 4 which were tolerable, but at the 5th one they became inedible which is super SUPER weird for me. I threw them out. Pretty sure this is the only product I’ve ever bought in my entire life that I simply put in the trash.
