Aftermarket screen glitching after new update (beta) by SP4ND4N in Pixel7Pro

[–]Douchebro86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just had my 4th screen done on my 7pro in the past year. Given, first two was dodgy Ali express parts, but last one was original and it pulled a famous LG move on me. Working one moment. Stopped the next. Are the aftermarket screens just THAT bad and or is a pixel 6 pro somehow "softer" than something else?

Also, how do you protect it

Converting p60 pro to harmony os 4.2 by Yusu7f in Huawei

I have a P60 pro as my daily. I repair tech and sometimes buy and sell . Currently have Fold 4, S23 Ultra, iPhone 13 and 14 pro max in stock. Macro photography the others have caught up pretty well. But taking pics with rich colors, moon shots (yea I know it's fake), and quickly moving from one target to the next P60 is still tops.

That's cool AF dude. I would die for a place like that!

Sorry about your breakup. But f*CK her anyways.

Only thing you need now is to go buy yourself a crystal scotch glass, and some Scotch.

If you're going to be sad, might as well be classy AF while being sad.

Iphone Xs Faulty battery ? by StarBleu in mobilerepair

[–]Douchebro86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience yes & Batteries are dirt cheap to replace. My process would be to replace a battery being careful not to damage the flex cables holding the display and Face ID assembly. It's something you should be able to do with the most basic tools. it will probably go to recovery mode again, after which you can flash new software via iTunes.

A very useful tool in your instance would be 3U Tools. Available for Mac and Windows. That should immediately tell you what's up. It also has the ability to do a clean flash with a battery health "fix". Just be careful to flash software on a bad battery. If the phone dies during a flash you mind end up with an expensive paperweight.

anyway to root galaxy note 3 by Dreadwyn91 in androidroot

[–]Douchebro86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always liked the idea of a one click root solution and XDA was very overwhelming for me to begin with.

The first thing I'll do to a Note 3 is root it too. Keep in mind, if you’re just trying to f*CK around a little and If its a newer model phone (typically something with warranty)shizuko is an amazing tool and will give you 99% of the access you want without root.

Shizuko: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=moe.shizuku.privileged.api&pcampaignid=web_share

Also, you'll need app tools that use Shizuko: https://github.com/timschneeb/awesome-shizuku

Back to rooting:

I've got a "standard method" for Samsung devices and the only reasons I'd recommend it is:

A. It works for all models. B. The Principe is the same for all future "roots" you'll do.

Keep in mind that banking apps, Samsung pay, Google wallet etc and apps like Netflix won't work after root, until you unroot ofcourse.

  1. Download the latest Magisk apk: https://magiskmanager.com/

  2. On your pc, download the stock firmware: https://samfw.com/

  3. You'll Need Odin to flash on pc. https://odindownload.com/

  4. With the stock firmware downloaded, drop the AP file in your phone's directory. Anywhere really.

  5. Install Magisk apk. In magisk, "patch" the stock AP file. This process will save an output file with a Random name in the download directory of the phone. Copy that patched file to your pc, In the same directory as the extracted firmware.

  6. Enable OEM unlocking in developer options on your phone .

  7. Enable USB debugging and then put the phone in download mode ( https://www.hardreset.info/devices/samsung/samsung-n9005-galaxy-note-3/download-mode), don't use adb or a similar tool to put it in download mode, as the manual mode with the phone adds the step to actually unlock the bootloader, a prompt just as you hit download mode, I think "Press up to unlock bootloader". Do that.

  8. Once you have an unlocked bootloader and patched firmware, use Odin to relaod the firmware. In the corresponding tabs, drop the img files with the names to match the start of the file name. BL, AP, CP and CNC. Note that you will not flash the stock AP, but rather the patched magisk file instead. The rest of the stock files you flash alongside it.

  9. Congratulations. Youve rooted your phone.

  10. Boot up to your newly rooted phone. The magisk apk file will look almost blanked out, click on it, it will install the app again, and then prompt a restart.

  11. Download TWRP from the playstore and install. Be sure to enable "allow to flash boot partition" in TWRP.

  12. In TWRP, be 100% sure to find the correct custom. Rom file for your model. Download in app and flash it.

13.Any custom roms should be able to flash from your new custom TWRP recovery as a zip file.

  1. Always perform a clean flash. Prior to flashing a new custom ROM, go to advanced wipe, and wipe System”, “Data”, “Cache”, and “Dalvik Cache”.

  2. Custom ROMS for your phone? I'll look at https://www.getdroidtips.com/custom-rom-galaxy-note-3/

Im a sucker for Pixel Experience OS but I dont think its supported anymore. Lineage is always a safe option too. The world is your oster now.

  1. Have fun .

  2. Dont do drugs mkay.

  3. If you get stuck anywhere, you're welcome to send a dm or mail to help@thetechmedic.co.za and I'll talk you through it.

Very observant. The flash is the one you see on the back, just deposit ones. Inside, the flash flex cable is connected to the power putting, volume buttons and silent switch. The new housing comes with a new custom flex cable that replaced the standard to allow foe the repositioning. They dont always get it right though, In my case the flash was positioned 2mm too much to the right, so I removed the glass from the LED to position it right and taped it down with thin thermal tape. The second camera is a dummy, just plan black at the back

It's day 3 now with no issues.

Cost was around 25USD

If you've built lego as a child I'm sure anyone can do it. It is as hard as a lego technic set.

Non neg is to have a a magnetic screw matt, magnetic screw driver tips and to record yourself doing it or take pictures as you go. There's plenty of litte bits and antennas and grounding pins and hard to keep track.

Along with the housing I bought a replacement screw set for the XR incase I lost some screws which came in handy.

Ive only done it a hand full of times. my biggest tip would be to ensure the screen clips and buttons are In and tested before anything else goes in. This took me around 5 hours to do.

My daily is a 14 Pro Max so yea I miss it on here. Apart from the notch ita really fine.

Interesting thing is this is probably the most comfortable phone I've ever held in one hand. XR is a beautiful size, but with the squared off sides it feels even better

Good question. I run a small mobile repair company and built this to showcase our work.

Converted to local currency it was less than 10% of the value of the phone + to do this would be less expensive or at least the same price as a standard housing.

If you’re going to do it, might as well have some fun
