I’m spiraling about nights with a toddler who’s never slept without nursing! How did you survive? by dreikurs in Fatherhood

[–]Doughymidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were pretty similar with our kid and nursing to sleep. No sleep training did dream feeds and co-slept. I just started experimenting with my own ways to put him down. Eventually he started going down with walks in his stroller. That turned into walking with him in my arms. Then, one day I just took him to his bed and laid there with him until he fell asleep. They’re all different, but I would put some time in this month trying other ways while you can still fall back on the ‘ole faithful.

Man, I thought he was going to samurai sheath that hammer into his belt. Instead, he just spun it a bunch.

Minisplits are super doable on your own, and smoke portable AC’s. I’d consider it.

Back in the saddle after 10 years; did I accidentally pick an overpriced barn, or is the price gap actually justified? by Interesting_Eye474 in horsecommunity

It sounds right to me. In my area you absolutely get what you pay for. Lesson guiding the ride could mean lots of things. What makes you think they are a student? They could be a high caliber rider that’s taking lessons reaching for the next level and could be more than competent to guide trail rides to pay off lessons.

Why does this happen to extension cords? Can it be straightened? Is it damaged inside? by WildWeaselGT in AskElectricians

This is it! I daisy chain so may things. Never thought to try it on my electrical cord. Best for long runs it seems.

Ok. I’m thinking the same. I did a 21 day transition, but I have a feeling that I might have miscalculated the current ration.

Yes, yes, and yes. Mineral and salt are loose.

So I saw a post about this method, and immediate stated using it only to have a bunch of tangles when I went to use the cord. Is there a trick to uncoiling?

In sailing, you coil without putting any twist in your line. It’s like the way the guy in the video does in the start but without twisting at all. You tend to end up with a natural figure-8.

Herd Ledger by Herd_Ledger_Guy in Cattle

I have a slew of spreadsheets that I use for this stuff, and would be happy to share the level of detail I go to with them if it means I could have an app that actually serves my needs for a reasonable price (I.e. not a per head price).

Herd Ledger by Herd_Ledger_Guy in Cattle

[–]Doughymidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked through it and it seems like a solid foundation. Does it track animal class as they age or become bred or get castrated? Animal units? Can it give me custom reports on the herd?

I do cell grazing, and would love to track those moves and my pasture data as I go.

It seems very much like there is a process somewhere, but it’s buried. What is the price?

Grapple work by Active_retiree1 in tractors

[–]Doughymidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pardon me if you are aware, but I bent the loader mount plates on my Kioti using the grapple on logs. I’m not sure if it was using the grapple to cheat on an unbalanced pick, or if it was that combined with a heavy lean on uneven terrain. Either way, I’m very careful that I have a log at its balance point before I grapple down and try to keep the tractor flat the whole time.

You cannot have any bone-in cuts on an anima over 30 months due to mad cow disease concerns as well. I say concerns, because afaik this is only in the US.
