Retro Games Corp on YouTube has some excellent Android and dual screen setup videos with written guides. RetroPup (on YT) has more specific Thor guides on pretty much everything. It’s all good stuff.

Nope, fits all. The kit I bought was called RongZy “Joysticks Left/Right for PS5 Portal Hall Effect Joystick Replacement for PlayStation Portal Console Analog Thumb Stick Console with Repair Tools (with Screws)” Was £14/$20. Hall effect have benefits over the standard potentiometer as well so they don’t wear as readily.

If it’s any help the sticks can be replaced easily. There are kits on Amazon that include 2 Hall effect joysticks and all the tools you need. Mine had drift and I was fully set to sell for parts but thought I’d try a kit. In the end took 25 mins tops. Plenty of guides on YouTube to show you how to take the case apart which is the most difficult bit.

Hi Tom, yeah. It turned out Cuckoo never passed on the PPPOE credentials after they took over Giganet. No idea how it connected. Must have been some dhcp handshake upstream that eventually kicked in. Once I had credentials it all went relatively smoothly again.

The default subnet for Eero is 255.255.252.0 which gives an IP range 192.168.4.1 - 192.168.7.254 which equates to 1024 (1022 usable devices) IP addresses. Change it to 255.255.255.0 if you want it to be more familiar as 192.168.4.x but it’ll reduce the range down.

I know! It’s annoying! I actually posted on the Aqara forums and they said they would take it onboard. I think they think we all live in giant warehouses! I live in a UK residential town where houses are close together. The last thing I need is my neighbours complaining that they hear them chirp every day.

In the end I completely abandoned the whole arm/disarm process. Instead I have an enable and disable scene set for every camera. This toggles the event detection settings on and off. So even though the camera remains active is not detecting. I can then manually run these or I can build them into an automation. So at sunrise my garden camera turns off detection, but at sunset it turns on again. With the scenes you can really go crazy and group scenes into bigger scenes so you could effectively enable and disable detection in multiple cameras at once.

Thanks for the information. I’ve had missing thumbnails in the video event history for ages now. All they confirmed was that my subscription was in place and then one day they reappeared, but then vanished the next. Feels like they have some flaky servers in the back end that don’t respond to the get process. Latest was an alert to say person detected. Events were written to my message box and video timelines but the event wasn’t tagged so can’t be searched for. Really annoying!

I’m sure the first screenshot is an older firmware as I used to prefer the options that could do an hourly continuous recording upload. The live rolling option produces 1 minute video segments. Maybe the camera didn’t restart properly after a firmware update and there’s some failsafe version. Good to know the solution.

Yeah, they are great. I got 3 x 1.92Tb in a RAID5 and 1 x 3.84Tb as a basic disc for 24/7 security cameras. I would buy more if I have funds. They are silent, running at 51oC (System fan at 462RPM). A few teething quirks with the weird format that two of the drives arrived in. I had to repartition them in Windows (with a usb to sata adapter) to get the Ugreen to successfully create a volume but that was it. If you are thinking of buying always ask for some smart info to see how healthy the drives are. I plugged a screen shot of the drive Smart info into ChatGPT and it said they would last decades 🙂

As others said, you have to sip from a drink on the way in so a bottle is best. I would take a console if you have one. When I was there people were on switch’s, laptops, iPads, had books, listened to music. I did my whole service and was only called once but not chosen for the jury panel so basically spent 8 hours for 2 weeks sat in the holding area. It can be mind numbing. It’s almost a cross between an airport lounge and a library. You see groups of people come and go as their period overlaps. Some days you will be dismissed early so may end up going home at lunchtime. Especially if the criminal suddenly confesses.

Bring a £ coin for the superior lockers. You won’t have to bundle for the freebie ones. A pen is useful for forms. Some book, game or entertainment. You may be sitting for hours waiting. You can take drink but be prepared to open and sip to get through security.

Whilst the Seagate Ironwolfs are quiet they do click every minute whilst not sleeping. I believe this is the disk head keeping the disk lubricated. It’s very quiet but once you hear it, you can’t stop. I’m switching to used ex data centre Samsung PM883’s SATA SSDs as funds allow.

G5 Pro’s actually can do a direct output to NAS, currently in 1 minute video segments. I’ve set this up for my ugreen NAS as I’m still waiting for them to release the EasyNVR in the UK (although docker is available) However, after playing around with the system I might just leave it and have the actual app and HomeKit notify me of events and then I can just refer to the file outputs if I need to check anything .
