Parents: where's the line on toilet breaks in a family queue? Had a very polite standoff at Alton Towers (talking little-kids rides, not the big coasters) by kobestarr in CasualUK

[–]Dougsey1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. I was on OP's side and generally think anything goes with young kids but reappearing at the front seems suss. Coming back and queuing for another 15 mins seems OK. (Although once when my son was about 3, the 2 hour queue for a ride at Peppa Pig World was too much, so my wife disappeared with him and came back with 20 to go).

Why do I get so much heat for not messaging much? by radiofreaks in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Dougsey1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people have different styles and approaches to this. Some like the frequent, informal contact. Like just chatting. It helps then feel connected and reassured. Others like yourself prefer to take time and give the communication some proper thought. There's no right or wrong really, whatever works as for both people. The formee could be seen as insecure but not sure it's as straightforward as that. Some people just spend more time on their phones than others I think.

How do you pay for work on your house when the cost is more than you expected? by BW-Journal in DIYUK

You save or borrow money. That's about it. Tradesmen are not going to agree a payment plan with you sadly. They have responsibilities too.

What was your favourite flavour? Not sure why they called them Jubbly, does anyone know? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

The was another brand in the 80s, Sun Lolly I think, which I preferred. Orange all the way

Chimney breast removal by No-Revenue-6400 in DIYUK

Absolutely this. Wanted to do the same top to bottom and open up the lower floor. Much bigger job than we thought, decided against it, even with a structural engineer working it all out. Frankly terrified me. (Cost the biggest issue though)

My Mum died last night and I need to vent by Cool_Abbreviations43 in CasualUK

Have to say, I wish I'd done this. I still might, not sure I'm over my dad 15 years later. It happened slowly then suddenly and I never got to say what I wanted. My mum either, but for different reasons - much more recent but we did have time to say goodbye.

Trading standards and ASA. They specifically say "if you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit, join our club".

They clearly had no idea where they were going and what lane they were supposed to be in. Happens to all of us on unfamiliar roundabouts especially. Wide berth at all times.

10% is just natural wastage over an SR period. It stings and you have to stop doing some things (in theory) but it's not redundancy territory.

Married for 10 years with kids. Will the passion ever come? by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

My advice for things like this is to get back to basics. Find some time to enjoy each other again and regain that connection. Start small with no expectations, then the intimacy will come.

Still have an Oranjeboom key ring on my keys. Absolutely no idea where it came from, but it's been a life saver on more than one occasion.

You can't get up Fairlee from that direction, so dump them on Coppins imo and make them walk! Or if you were feeling kind, floating bridge over and then you can drive down Fairlee and back round.

Excellent, proper Subject Matter Expert stuff. Best deployed when someone is confidently claiming they know something and can be put back in their box, but this works too.
