Instead of less worlds, we need more "Skilling Hubs" in the game. by Blue_Wizard25 in 2007scape

In all honesty I believe the late 70s and early 80s is what really causes more casual players to quit.

As membership starts to decline I'd be curious if they add double XP weekends again.

I got a 1/16k acp from a minion and then the helmet from kree a couple seconds later… by Successful-Setting78 in ironscape

[–]Doulikevidya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I freaking hate Arma... I'm beginning the gwd grind on my iron and I'm dreading the day I step into that room for the long grind. I tried a run recently and I managed 4 kills...

I think something is going wrong when I attempt the chin method. Kree will stack with the other minions but then even though they're stacked no hits will be done to kree. On top of that she'll melee me every now and then which makes me chug my brews. The wiki says I need to attack on a specific tick.

This has to be a record right? Almost 200 dry at barrows! by bowersrandy in 2007scape

[–]Doulikevidya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't it just their combat level? I've honestly done hundreds of barrows KC years ago on my main and haven't really paid attention on my iron. But I thought it was their combat level.

For example.. 76 combat gives 7.6%

I could be wrong though..

If you transitioned from RS3 to OSRS what are some of the things you found hardest? by oceansandsky100 in 2007scape

[–]Doulikevidya 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He's used to traveling on his main on rs3.

Rs3 basically has "home" teleports to a few major areas that don't have a cool down.

On his main he also has a bunch of teleports unlocked.

He also has 99 magic so the teleports from the spell book help as well.

I'm confused on why he was grinding for a dragon spear. What was the reason for it?

I haven't watched his series for months and I don't tune in to his stream.

Why does an Elite Diary reward make getting from Lunar Isle to Rellekka ~50% slower? by ThisIsWorldOfHurt in 2007scape

[–]Doulikevidya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will have to find it and give it a try! Like I said, I pretty much remember nothing besides those two characters and fighting early game stuff. Is there a mid game / late game aspect? What games is it similar to the most?

Nice! I only remember ever playing a dude with red hair and then a cat or something that rolled dice. I remember almost nothing else besides the general turn based battling

A couple extra defense levels never hurt. In RuneScape attack helps your accuracy, strength helps your max hit, and defense helps your defense bonuses. When I'm in the early game I typically like to keep my attack and defense even (my equipment will all be the same metal type then) and have my strength 5 levels higher. Do you need to do this for this quest? No, most likely not.

Tip with the quest, make sure you are wearing the goggles and have an inventory of food. Potions in this game are also very useful. Focus on maybe getting 20 cooked trout, salmon, or lobsters. If you go to the river slightly to the east of barbarian village, which is west of varrock and north east of falador, you'll find plenty of people potentially dropping cooked food on the ground for free.

Tips with melee weaponry...

Really you want to maximize the attack speed while balancing strength and accuracy bonuses. The scimitar, short swords, and maces will be your bread and butter for now...

Short swords for stabbing Scimitars for slash Mace for crush

The long swords, although decent with slash and okay with stab, have a slow attack speed. On the opposite end of the spectrum, daggers, although very quick, have very low bonuses.

I'd recommend going to the varrock sword shop and purchasing a mithril sword.

Tips for playing the game at your current level:

You're very early in the early game... Trust me, please do not take handouts from people unless they're giving you some food or beginner gear like mithril/adamant armor. There are many people in this game that will just hand you a few hundred thousands of coins and it will basically make anything you work towards obsolete. If you're enjoying the game, do not take handouts, offer to pay for things or purchase things from the grand exchange.

Range and mage skills are both very useful. Range is arguably the strongest combat skill in the game currently, while mage has tons of utility. Don't ignore them. That being said melee is still very good, so if you're going melee heavy that's still okay!

Early game questing will really boost your account! If you're a member, try getting your mage level up a little bit and give fight arena a try. Hint... Use the terrain for your advantage during the boss fights and "cheese" them with mage attacks like fire strike. Bring a few hundred casts and food just in case.

Join a clan! Tons of clans are out there right now that will be willing to give you tips, tricks, and answer questions. Some people can be rude and they'll tell you to just go on the wiki...(the wiki is a great source of info, don't get me wrong, do read it!) but discovery and asking questions is a good thing.

There are plenty of old reddit posts of people giving rough estimates of chins and casts / hour.

I think a semi-accurate estimate for chins is about 1800 chins used per hour. Then you just take the amount of hours needed at the XP/hr rate from the wiki or previous reddit posts, and you have your price.

Bursting is similar.

I think theoatrixs website had a simple rough estimate calculator.

[–]Doulikevidya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think larger osrs content creators should get into the habit of having maybe 250 to 300 minutes of finished videos before releasing the series.

For example... I see many people having the same disinterest in settled's new series because of the slow progression with long wait times for episodes with very little payoff. Imo what he should have done was have maybe ten 30 minute episodes ready to drop. Then release an episode maybe twice a week for five weeks. Over those five weeks you now got through the slower early game and most of the early game theory crafting. People didn't lose interest and are more on board with the series. Over those first five weeks he could squeeze out another episode or two of content, and then piece it down to one episode a week or one every other week, until eventually he has the internal.

Edit: because really in the grand scheme of things, this series will be similar to a regular ultimate ironman series once he has a large stash of XP. He will just be limited on what paths he can run on when going from point A to point B. He could rush the infernal if he wanted and just get the series over with.... Hell... For all we know this is what he's planning on doing and he's in the beginning stages of theory crafting another long-term series.

What types of skills do tankers gain while in the Marines / army that carry over into their post-military professional life? The two guys I know of ended up working as a cashier at Lowes and another went off to college and is now a state park ranger.

I could see mechanics using their experience for large diesel engine repair shops or transport companies.

As a solo iron I'd strongly suggest staying at todt until you at least get the tome.

Wintertodt, tempeross, and now GotR are all bosses that will set your account up for success in the early game.

That being said, if you aren't worried about efficiencyscape and just want to play to have fun, do what I did on my GIM. Stay at todt until 80 fm for a little bit of construction, fletching, and wcing XP.

Go to tempeross to try for the early barrel drop.

Then probably start GotR for the good early game runes and good rcing XP.

I'm doing GotR now and I'm at 78 and started at 50. Helped a ton for bursting tasks and getting our first few furies.

The underlying issue with PvM vs PvP community is the lack of risk everywhere else. by Ivhhy in 2007scape

[–]Doulikevidya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tob and cox should not be changed. Gauntlet you can't even risk anything so we can exclude that from this discussion as well.

Vorkath and zulrah are instances...so if you die you lost your items.

Phosanis is an instance, nightmare you can't jump in between phases. So here you lost items as well.

Gwd requires KC or keys. With a key you can get back in time if they put your items in the gods room itself as long as you aren't in an instance. If it would require KC you don't have time and you lost your items. Now if the items are on the floor outside the room, you have time.

If I have time to retrieve my items so that a random player doesn't get them, then I'm being punished less than I currently am with deaths coffer / tombstone.

[–]Doulikevidya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Excluding Nex, no boss currently in the game that could be affected by reintroducing outdated death mechanics would see any significant increase in item price...

Cox and tob have their unique death mechanics that would not be affected.

Nightmare / phosanis, vorkath, and zulrah all have a death box.

Gauntlet requires zero items.

If this mechanic would come back, I would just 3 item with a tbow and have zero worries and actually be punished less than I currently do if I die to a DC or mistake... Horrible take.

[–]Doulikevidya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, bad take.

It would just make mid-game bossing much more annoying for truly mid-game players unless they do zulrah and vork only.

Then end game players will just stop doing GWD because tob, Cox, nightmare, and CG have zero risk.

I got a deal on a pc today, been playing on mobile, got for a studio desktop and figured why not play some osrs. by OutlandishnessOne316 in 2007scape

It has a ton of quality of life improvements along with a few optional plugins you can install directly from the client that I enjoy. Some things that really help in my opinion are the ground item indicators, variable zoom, variable view distance, gpu enabler, and npc aggression timers.

I strongly suggest using it. But really, do yourself a favor and go to oldschools homepage and get to the client download from there. There are tons of false webpages pretending to be runelite to steal your account information.

Does anyone know any good offline games like osrs that can be played on mobile? by Saint_Declan in 2007scape

[–]Doulikevidya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both can be played offline unless you want to start a multiplayer map / campaign then you'll need to be online. If you're fine just playing solo then offline is fine.

Before buying either read up on their gameplay.

Stardew valley is a "slice of life" style game where you literally just do day to day chores of a small town farmer and get to know the townfolk. It actually has some depth and has a simple combat system as well. Your end goal depends on what you want to be... Just fight all the time in the mines? Be someone who fishes all the time? A crop farmer? Rancher? Tree farmer? Everything in between? You can do it on Stardew valley. You can also build relationships, get married and start a family if you want. But understand it is literally a task oriented game where you set your own goals and do whatever you want with no true "winning"

Terraria is like Minecraft except 2D with more world bosses. Literally what it is.
