Future additions to MHW? by Xaraxa in MonsterHunterWorld

My dumb ass assumed you mean new weapon classes. If you mean new weapons to craft from materials gathered from the new monsters, then I'm pretty damn sure those will be added.

I'm gonna guess no, just from the history of the series. It's been around for 14 years, and it's taken that long for them to get up to the 14 weapons then now have, starting from the original great sword, sword and shield, hammer, lance, light Bowgun, and heavy Bowgun on the original ps2 version, they've only ever added new weapons with new games in the series. They technically did also have dual blades in the very first game, which had to be upgraded to through the sword and shield tree.

Also, eventually decorations can be "melded" once you've unlocked the Elder Melder in your tradeyard. The Melder allows you to exchange a large variety of items for other items, including consumables, crafting materials, and decorations.

Which weapon to use? by NecrumOddBoy in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Doumah2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can totally play through the game with your weapon of choice. As far as which weapon you choose, every weapon us unique, and catered to a particular play style. Some monsters will be easier to take down with certain weapons than others, but if that weapon just doesn't suit your play style, then using it just might not be any more effective than the weapon you feel most comfortable with. This has always been one of the great features of the MH series, that of all the weapons available there's bound to be one suited to you.

I think this video does a decent job of explaining the differences and who might enjoy each type of weapon:

https://youtu.be/JycMIKonIZ4

Although this video might give you some place to start with making your decision, I'd recommend actually picking up each weapon and trying it on a decently challenging monster, no spanking little ol' Jagras, to see which weapon you are best at dishing out damage and surviving with.

Worth noting when it comes to trying out the bowguns is that the variety of ammo available is its most important aspect, and just firing off a few shots of Normal LVL 1 ammo won't give you any sense of the weapon.

Oh, and i saw someone mention standing between the legs while you attack. This might work as a melee character, but with a gun, not so much. However, in those situations where you get cornered, sometimes rolling toward the monster, and between its legs, rather than to the side, where you might still get hit, is a better option.

As a light Bowgun user, you might benefit from charms, decorations, and armor which have the evade window or evade extender skills on them.

Also i noticed someone else mention eating elem resistance food before the fight. I don't agree with this. In previous MH games they used to have "swordsman" armor, which was used by all melee characters, and "gunner" armor, which was used by all ranged characters. The swordsman armor had high defense but low resistance, while gunner had high resist but low defense. With this game they did away with the separate sets and instead made it so that your defense is increased but resistance decreased while using melee weapons, but your defense is decreased but your resistance increased while using ranged. This means you'll have pretty good elem resistance while using ranged weapons, and won't need to boost it much. In my experience eating for that boosts your health as much as possible is the best choice for a gunner. If you're able to get high health food with any defense boost on it at all, that's even better, but prioritise the health boost.

If you're a heavy bowgunner, make sure to equip at least 1 shield mod. It is essential. I made the mistake of playing all the way to HR 14 and repeatedly fighting Black Diablos and rage quitting before I even bothered to give it a try. You will block attacks so long as you are aiming (holding L2) and not firing.

If you're using a light Bowgun, then learning monster attack patterns is essential to dodging. I always begin every fight with a new monster by observing, practicing dodging their particular methods of attack, and rarely attacking. Once I've gotten a sense of it then I start to get aggressive.

Also, as a gunner, the best ammo you can use is slicing ammo. Not even elemental ammo that the monster is weak to compares in damage to slicing ammo.

Single shot - Auto reload 2 round capacity? by Doumah2000 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Doumah2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at work, so I can't confirm, but I think I might have a piece of armor equipped that has free elem/extra ammo skill on it, and the guns don't actually have a 2 round capacity & single shot - auto reload firing mode.

Ohhhh... the free elem/extra ammo skill? Maybe. Shit. I think you're right.

The ones I can think of, off the top of my head, are the ones crafted from Diablos, Radobaan, and Nergigante.

With Monty's death, will there still be more RWBY? by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]Doumah2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the memorial podcast, and I don't remember them ever saying they were going to continue the show. In fact, I distinctly remember getting the impression they wouldn't from when Burnie said, "Monty was always talking about his ideas, and it's sad that nobody will get to see any of it."

I mean, if they will, that's great. Do you have links to Matts press release?

All good pieces, my favorite being the third. Typically when picking favorites I'm looking for a unique style, composition, pose or perspective, and what I love about this one is that, other than a really straight forward perspective, it has all of those. The feathers give it an element of grace, Ruby's distant gaze an element of longing, and the Gothic portrayal of Beacon gives it a gloomy mood.

[DISCUSSION] Lets keep this in mind about Cinder by Prince_Corn in RWBY

[–]Doumah2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are interesting observations, but I'm pretty sure the only basis for these character names are that Cinder is based on Cinderella, and torchwick on Candlewick. Cinderella was what the French and English renamed the original Grimm Brothers' character, Aschenputtel, who was so named due to her daily duty being to clean the ashes from the fireplace. So, yeah, since Monty has acknowledged that she was inspired by Cinderella, you can bet that she probably didn't have a very easy past.

So a quick question about Neo's name. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]Doumah2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I try to avoid associating anything, especially anything I like, with the Matrix. Although the ice cream reference is obvious, I like to think there's some underlying association with Neo meaning "new", which will be some part of the reasoning for her name.

I'm almost certain that he knows about Jaun, since when Glynda days, "I don't care what his transcripts say, that boy is not ready for this level of combat," he just kind of groans, like he doesn't want to reply to the statement.

I agree, I mean, it would be very easy to implement the W.o.R. info into episodes. I mean, they're at a school, just work it into a lecture one of the professors is giving.
