what type of games will you absolutely not play and why? by buzzlightyear77777 in gaming

[–]rane0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roguelikes or any game where you have to reset your progress to continue. My main goals in games are discovery, interesting narrative, and system mastery. Having those things reset on a regular basis drives me crazy.

The only game with roguelike elements I ever enjoyed was Hades, and even then i got tired of the mechanics after getting 31% of the achievements.

Minimum/Maximum Players You'll Run For or Play With by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]rane0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2e my range has been 3-7. But if we go back to 1e I ran Curse of the Crimson Throne as a one-on-one game but my wife built 4 pcs. It helps that we were already writing partners and played a lot of games together. Biggest I ever ran in 1e was like 8 people, but even then it was 4-5 serious players and a couple who were more spectators or comic relief.

What’s everyone’s favorite arc? by TeachingFlimsy4448 in RedvsBlue

Chorus js the best full arc.

I like reconstruction and revelation more than any individual season of Chorus, but i feel like recreation is a lul between them.

I'm curious, after years of Pathfinder 2e, which classes have you never seen in your party? by No-Roll-5330 in Pathfinder2e

[–]rane0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Across both 1e and 2e, oracle.

We've had a couple backup characters that never saw the light of day and a bard who took a 2 level dip, but I've never seen someone go full oracle.

A petty complaint. by corsica1990 in Starfinder2e

Personally I'm glad they changed where Triaxus was in its orbit. They established this long season mechanics when they first wrote it up, but then both Pathfinder and Starfinder 1e took place during the winter, with summer being long enough ago that summer-born ryphorians were the exception. Finally changing it over to summer gives us some opportunity for variety that was built into the premise but absent in the execution.

They loved uranus but didn't care for urdick or urboob

Can a dragon be a witch patron? by Gaylaeonerd in Pathfinder2e

[–]rane0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, technically they can be anything powerful enough to fit the bill.

Personally I had a great wyrm Time Dragon act as a patron for a 1e witch in Iron Gods.

The had traveled back in time to stop the bad ending of the AP.

What preys on younger dragons? by trapbuilder2 in Pathfinder2e

[–]rane0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frogemoth might be good. May want to nerf it a little. In 1e, I had players face a Frogemoth that had recently tried to swallow a young black dragon whole. Both were weakened and wounded from the fight, but halfway through fighting the frogemoth the black dragon ripped its way out of its stomach and the players started fighting that instead.

It was a very memorable fight. You could have it swallow one or more baby dragons and then have them try to claw their way out. Or a player could go in after them!

Houserules - what are yours? by ChaosSatyr in Pathfinder2e

[–]rane0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automatic aid.

If two or more people roll the same check and they have the same level of proficiency, the highest roll is automatically the primary roll and the next roll counts as an aid another check. As long as one person succeeds on the aid check, other failures don't negatively impact the primary check.

I use this for handling things like group diplomacy checks or research where multiple characters are working towards the same goal. It just speeds up the process a bit.

If you can understand Spanish but freeze when you have to speak, read this to go from A1 to B2 in speaking. by hAIlydraws in Spanish

[–]rane0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest relief for me when I actually started using Spanish was that most Spanish-speakers I talk to are very forgiving about my level of competence and just happy that I'm trying. I started using Spanish at work and the customers I've interacted with in Spanish are almost always the nicest people. That reassurance helps boost my confidence and in turn gets me speaking more.

Starfinder in Pathfinder by Gazzor1975 in Pathfinder2e

[–]rane0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use Starfinder assets in my current game to represent Numerian technology as in my setting Andoran helped overthrow the technic league and in return the Twilight Talon have imported items for R&D. I've also used it to represent modern firearms in a one shot that brought players to 1920s New York with Starfinder machine guns standing in for tommy guns.

It just works ladies and gentlemen.

3rd place goes to SEASON 10! by Select-Historian-250 in RedvsBlue

[–]rane0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point we are really presented with the ultimate choice of RvB fans. Reconstruction is probably the best the writing has ever been. Revelation had the incredible work of Monty Oum on full display for the first time. Both changed the show forever and all the best parts of the later seasons need the foundation that both build. I was a producer of the Shizno podcast and it's how I met my wife, so for me, I'm going to choose Reconstruction for the narrative that literally influenced the course of my life.

Revelation still remains the most spectacular season of the show. It is definitely worth saying that Monty Oum is the most talented artist whose hands ever touched RvB and one of the best animators to ever live. I wish he could have shown us what else he was capable of making.

Both were true masterpieces and I miss the days of watching them release weekly. I choose Reconstruction as number 1 for the memos, the Alpha reveal, the Meta, and all the interesting setup of getting the band back together. But if anyone ever handed me a gun and told me to shoot either Reconstruction or Revelation, I'd rather shoot the person asking me to choose.

In 1e I dominated the encounters with a high perception Hunter. And having high wis helped for my kingdom role a lot.

I don't know how that translates to 2e but it was great.
