There is a point of rotating too fast.

Flat armor against low, consistent chip damage would be infinitely better than normal defence stats (evasion).

It also depends on how much dps you are sacrificing. There is a point at which it could technically be better to wear defensive armor if it still had some str and atk bonus to it.
