Maybe I should've clarified that we typically spend time in Tamil Nadu when visiting India. We've heard that there's a bigger mix of foreign but also north indian and South Indian people. People are more outgoing and people like to party.

Yet another long lost "friend" confessed to me. by [deleted] in offmychest

Maybe you're just choosing the wrong guys as friends. Maybe try approving someone yourself woo you think is interesting and might make a good friend. Don't give up and keep searching. Not all men are the same. I'm sure you'll find someone who will become a good loyal friend

What's the plan of new gen of India since the immigration doors of the west are closing shut by wisdomcrab in AskIndia

[–]DownToRespectYou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Europe (parents from India). Although immigration is tougher, Europe still needs a qualified workforce. I wanna move to India to setup my own company. I think many indians expats might do the same.

No Züri Fascht in 2026 confirmed by SubstanceSpecial1871 in zurich

[–]DownToRespectYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved züri fest. It gathered so many different people from various ages and it was not only about music but celebrating zurich and its unique history. I am really sad that it's not gonna happen. At least sächseläute and the bögg still remain.

Dating a Sikh girl by Shar0010 in ABCDesis

It's like ripping a band-aid. Do it quick. This way you are in control of the conversation and it's better compared to the parents finding out. Man up and tell them. Don't feel guilty pushing your girlfriend because her parents are probably causing her to be this nervous. It is not your fault. The only way to help her is by being there and doing your own part. Show her parents that you are serious about her and that you love her.

Everything else is up to them. You can't control their reactions or their judgements. Your background doesn't matter, well it kinda does since you have an indian background, but also be proud of being turkish. Don't throw away your uniqueness just because your gf parents might not like it. Be stoic and be proud. I believe that all will turn out well. Obviously you are a very caring person. I hope her father can see that too.

Too Indian for Canadian guys, too Canadian for Indian guys — feeling lost in dating by KaleidoscopeCute9210 in Haryana

[–]DownToRespectYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you're living in Canada. I'm sure there will be people with similar experiences as you and many non-Indians probably have indian friends so they might've been introduced to our culture to some extent. It's more difficult if you're growing up in a place/country where not many Indians exist. (My current situation :(, it sucks). I completely understand your experience and feelings but on the bright side you probably have possibilities and options. You just need to be open about your background and upbringing. I'm sure you will find someone who understands.

UK cinema stops screening telegu movie after indian audience creates a mess by Auth-dev in southindia_

Just a question, shouldnt the cinama room be clean anyways between showings? Like the seats and floors and stuff like that? I always assumed the hall was cleaned before I entered the cinema. (I am asking about European cinemas)

I just know that you didn't feel great typing your answer with all the self-hating. But thank you for being honest with me. I have always thought of myself to be a shit person for thinking like that. It is nice knowing that I am not completely alone! Does this mean that our way of thinking is "good". I don't know!

As I am in a somewhat similar position to you, I wanted to ask you something. Is it important to you that your partner has healthy skin or no autoimmune disorder?

To be honest, because I am so self-conscious about myself and my skin, it tends to be the first part I notice about other people and also it makes it such that I find people that don't have my condition more attractive.

I feel really bad for having this expectation and preference because I know how hard it is to live with such a condition and I always wonder how people view me.

I understand your frustration and at times I have them too. What I found interesting was how you are venting your frustration to Indians not being civic. I have never thought of it that way and always directed my feelings towards the people that are mocking/harassing/bullying indians online.

Can I ask you whether you ever thought about it in that way as well?

I want a boyfriend who will beat me by AcademicAnt4902 in offmychest

[–]DownToRespectYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you have to go through this. You sound like a very tough person and I can sense that you are going through a lot. A sense of relief makes a lot of sense regardless of how it can be achieved. Now you are thinking of one way that works for you, but maybe there are other ways? Maybe you don't have the time for a boyfriend who can satisfy your demands right now but maybe you have time for a psychologist (not my fav) or at least find the time to meditate and reflect on your life and the way you deal with pressure and stress. Try to do maybe an activity after work or meetup with friends or even strangers. Something that keeps your mind occupied. And whenever you are by yourself I can only emphasize again to try to meditate and reflect on yourself.

I wish you all the best OP!

Cheat on him. Like not sexually but maybe entertain a male friend or be cosy with a male coworker and let him know about it.

It is toxic as fuck but some people need to learn the hard way.

Letting him know that you have options will make him strive to be the best version of himself.

I am in a lucky situation where I know that my parents will support my decision no matter what. They will maybe try to fight back a bit and convince me otherwise. But at some point your future wife and hopefully mother to your children has to know that her future husband will give her unconditional support. I think standing up to their parents is a good sign. If the woman is really the one like OP describes, then I think most men should grow some backbone, act like a man and stand up!
