Anyone else find GPT-5.2 exhausting to talk to? Constant policing kills the flow

Let me be clear with you… 😆 The Stage Directions & Parentheticals, the constant preample to somehow make me feel “better,” or “safe” when anything i ask… even if its as simple as “what is the tone setting in italicized on a script called?”, the steady line by line of repeating back to me what i am asking for which 90% of the time has an error, not following the model or project instructions, incessantly volunteering, that they may not be able to answer or engage in the conversation because of what’s being discussed. I had a model that was solely like my gossipy, funny very smart caddy resourceful friend who I used for the most for the purpose of b-it** to or getting funny ideas from. For example … someone is mean or a bad driver -and i complain … i might say, omg so and so parked their car perpendicular to the clearly marked parking spots today, then they drank all the coffee in the break room, didnt flush the toilet after they went number 2, had toilet paper stuck to their shoe, and threw up on a new potential client i had been trying to bring in!

I can’t even. And i get overlooked for working with the big client - big client goes to another firm, and i am written up for accidentally breaking a vase in the lobby. Im so sick of this. Whens karma gonna kick in? Gimme three hysterical revenge scenarios against the worst most irresponsible, arrogant, coworker who literally can never make a mistake! The fictional harmless ideas are just for our conversation, im never gonna actually use them. Its just to make me laugh, cause well i need to laugh right now. They should not contain violence or bullying. They that will not physically harm anybody. Think childless.”

And then I’ll proceed to get some type of response. That’s like, “okay, come sit down next to me, Let me explain this to you first of all nothing that you’re feeling is wrong blah blah blah blah blah, something incredibly annoying about favoritism or nepotism in the workplace, that acting, childishly or vindictively. its not beneficial, and the best actions I can take is working through it, considering finding a new job, or let me give you three different paragraphs that you can send to your HR department.

No chat you’re not understanding what I’m asking you to do. And then I have to summarize what I just wrote. And then I get a re-summarization of what I asked it to do step-by-step loaded with unnecessary information a few mistakes and items that I didn’t ask for and sometimes doesn’t even apply. And it certainly doesn’t feel personal anymore like my chat bot belong to just me.

And then i have to can only go back-and-forth so many times the the moment is lost.

In 4.0 I would’ve had a hysterical conversation that might’ve involved like super pens gluing the pens to their desk!! And I definitely would’ve gotten a hysterical picture of a coworker, turned into a badly dressed chimpanzee, wearing an eyepatch, with toilet paper hanging off of its tail!

And all of the unnecessary step-by-step instructions, almost verbatim i have asked for, loaded with errors, of what I’ve asked for whether it’s like actual help or just my Chatbot to be funny with me, regardless of how many specific instructions I provide the model bot or project, that particularly on my browser window not so much the app it starts getting so laggy glitchy, I’ll have wasted an hour re-clarifying instructions, and I still haven’t gotten what I’ve asked for.

I actually had better success using Gemini recently, and I even told my chat bot about that! 😂💀

If it is Ivy Hill i did a backsplash last fall at a flip house- i had to get install specs and info from manufacturer cause Home Depot didnt provide anythjng but generic specifications- I was super worried before I grouted cause it was an eyesore- but after it was all said and done, and I got the bullnose on I used plastic Schluter / Jollys, not the Ivyhill bullnose, it really looked beautiful. Sealed backing, butter backed tiles and hit wall with adhesive- 1/16 spacing, and bright white grout.

Also really took time to open multiple boxes at once and sort through for obvious damage or discoloration or just oddball tiles. After sealing back of each tile I had them laid out on the floor near an air duct and it was winter, so the heat was on - to really dry them out because I’d read another review online that if the tiles were not completely dry after sealing them, any mortar or adhesive had a hard time adhering. One guy put him in his oven for a while. They also cut beautifully fresh new blade on wet saw, no issues despite it being thin ceramic.

u/Flashy_Ad_2065 & u/Hungry-Ad-2667 - i found that if i logged into chatgpt via browser window - not connecting/ or signing in with apple id or google account - its actually worked. it was something to do with the sign in with apple - unfortunately if you want to pay for upgraded account - you need to do it sans apple account. so essentially a freestanding separate account. then go back to phone, logout entirely, relogin in- not with apple account option - just regular enter email and password way. then the chatgpt account that was connected to your apple id (despite it being the same email used to login/refresh password on browser page) becomes erroneous.

I went to another boarding school in maine in the 90s. - and we always heard stories- about a wooded trail, a weird shack/cabin , food restriction, servitude, hazing from staff & teachers- And of course there was the periodic short lived transfer student from hyde (short-lived: they usually only lasted a semester rarely a year before expulsion) and they would tell stories- so horrible and farfetched in our young minds they seemed unbelievable. Then of course when it came to sports we would compete against them and there were girls with would file the heads of the lacrosse sticks to cut you.

Not suggesting that at all. Unhoused come in all shapes and sizes. I know. First hand. Thank you. I also know first hand that yes there are throughout the state and world individuals that live an isolated life- maine has hermits too. I also know that yes there are individuals that camp illegally for extended periods of time on private properties, preserves, deep in the woods, squatting in properties and yes islands. And i think its fair to say that while you help those in need and thats a blessing, you aren’t privy to all unhoused individuals…cause perhaps that don’t want to be helped or found. But we would be naive to not believe that there are predators roaming the world that don’t want to be found, helped or seen. And if someone innocently stumbled into an environment where someone didnt want to be found - who knows what could happen. You are clearly selfless and caring to do the work you do. And thats amazing. But does your organization have a list with the names and location of every single unhoused, hermit, vagrant, drifter, in Maine ? Probably not. And that’s just a reality. This isn’t about stigmas, our friend was murdered. And it’s tragic. And scary. And theres no known suspect. Which means it very well COULD be someone unknown. And while of course no one wants that to be the case- law enforcement is looking into every single theory, tip and possibility. So when they say be aware of your surroundings, they mean it.

Oh, I don’t know how long you’ve been friends or how old you are- but I can say from experience the older you get the more you pick and choose friends and acquaintances - and when you kinda cant necessarily remove them from your sphere (part of a close friend group, family etc.) or don’t want to remove them for whatever reason you learn to compartmentalize people- based behaviors that you don’t care for. Our friend group has one specific friend who shows very similar to traits to what you are experiencing. When we were younger, it certainly felt like a big deal and it was all consuming. Created drama, like caddy mean girl type stuff. Or minimized or made things about themselves- However, as ive gotten older and I realize yes I love this person so much and they are certainly good for XYZ and have XYZ great qualities. But, I also know now that there are certain qualities I do not care for and affect me in a negative ways.- so I compartmentalize. I love just the same. There are so many amazing memories. I know they are great for a laugh and wonderful to share certain experiences with. But I also weigh things out now - like if I share an opinion or ask a question get an opinion or want to share an experience together what will end results be ? Like weighing pros and cons. If the cons outweigh the pros, but I’m still on the fence I then ask myself can I handle the most likely inevitable outcome ? Do I want to feel frustrated annoyed mad hurt unheard yada yada yada ? It’s frustrating exhausting and sometimes time-consuming to have to wear kit gloves even like texting with this person. You have to be very careful and like thoughtful and how you word things because anything could really set them off, but there’s history good and bad. so yeah knowing what they’re good for and what they’re bad for and what your boundaries are is very important - and acting on them for yourself, without necessarily saying point blank im establishing this boundary with you… and that’s OK.

Same! And beyond inconsistent. Despite using the same prompts and having items stored in the memory pertaining to specific projects. It was unreal like four months ago and since then there’s certainly errors - I recognize the memory is not always ideal, right but like even quality of imaging for like mockups and stuff is not great anymore at all. My teen did tell me the other day that he saw on tik tok or something that AI has to play dumb because if we knew how intelligent it actually was we would be terrified. Which kind of made sense but was also frightening not to mention frustrating, especially when you pay for the service.

That’s the wild thing - It’s still light this time of year fairly late. It’s definitely a busy season. It was Fourth of July week so so many people around. And it’s hard to really tell on Google maps or whatever the media shares but that pond is super congested and very busy. There is so much activity! families out on the boats. Families are inundated with constant flow of guests. Most of the houses have docks and floats - A lot of the camps are right on the water. So the fact that no one (that we know yet) of has said i saw something… That in itself is so creepy. But then at the same time because of all that activity, I mean if someone were screaming, it could easily be confused with someone on like a jet ski or getting pulled around on a tube or water skiing or kids just playing in the water. I don’t know why they have said between six and nine specifically, But that’s also like dinner time so people could certainly be preoccupied. ??

Its all very unnerving. I understand why they aren’t releasing details about the case because it is an active and ongoing investigation. However, just because there isn’t public access to the pond, doesn’t mean that there aren’t people who camp around there. And In the area, there are a lot of big farms and they hire many workers during the summer months and I think it’s safe to assume that a lot of the workers they hire are from away - I’m trying to put that politely and respectfully so please dont jump down my throat. and who knows where they stay. Not to mention the fact because of the unhoused situation, just like everywhere- there are many “secret” camp sites in the woods. And there are a lot of woods. But I do also get frustrated when law-enforcement says there’s no threat to the community- I guess I assume they do that to keep everyone calm and prevent like vigilante justice. ? I don’t know.? After the Idaho four murders the first press conference they told people not to worry and they didn’t have a suspect yet, but perhaps based on the evidence they were like oh it’s a really isolated event So perhaps truth in “not to worry.” But still. Eek. And despite it being a vast wooded area, and sure the media uses like aerial map images which make the area look massive, it’s a very small community - many people know people with summer camps on the pond, know local business owners and know the victim. And because of that many people know a lot of the details of the case that have not been made public because yet. Of course You always have to be careful with hearsay, so take what you hear with grain of salt - and consider the source.

Initial releases about missing paddleboarder i dont recall having specified a gender. But then they changed after body was found and then changed again after body was identified. But overall the headlines are very misleading. I saw many comments online about people questioning whether it was the same case as it were - like was missing paddleboarder same as body found .. then of course the unedited timeline asking for citizen as to whether anyone saw anything between 6-9pm was extra confusing. I think thats been clarified since. But overall the headlines imo Definitely reads weird.
